I always try to slot an Achilles' Heel: Chance for -Res in Soldiers. They have so many powers that can trigger it, you're almost guaranteed to always have the -20% Resist on your target.

Hey all! I admit, I haven't really given Doms a try. So, I figured it's time to change that. I'm looking at Earth/Sonic and was wondering if there's any tips into playing it? I like the idea of locking down opponents, then moving in with Disruption Aura (reducing their Resistance) and then laying some smack down. Any one play either of these sets and can give advice/what to expect? Appreciate it! - X

So, your 2 ways are the only ways to slot a power? Keep in mind that many people chase set bonuses, which may be why they slot powers the way they do. The beauty of this game is that 2 people can have the same powers, slot them differently, and practically be totally different.

Yep. You're right. I didn't look past the S/L values. My bad. But I still think the + To Hit or +Accuracy would thematically fit the power.

Greetings, After playing and respeccing my WP Tank (numerous times), something dawned on me. Why is it that I can delve into the Fighting Pool and pick up Weave, and get MORE defense (to all btw), than a PRIMARY POWER (Heightened Senses) gives? This makes no sense. While I appreciate the fact that Heightened Senses also gives +Perception, the Defense it gives is approximately 2.7% LESS than Weave. Slotted with the EXACT same IOs, Heightened Senses give 5.2% Defense (S/L/F/C/E/N.E) while Weave gives 7.9% Defense to ALL. Is the extra 500' of Perception worth it? If your Perception is increased that much, shouldn't it affect your Accuracy or To Hit? I propose that Heightened Senses stay as is, with the exception of offering +4% (or +6%) to To Hit or +8% (or +10%) to Accuracy. OR, bump up the base Defense values of Heightened Senses from 3.3% to 5% to match Weave's numbers (after all, shouldn't a PRIMARY power have better values than a Power Pool?). Personally, I like the added To Hit or Accuracy myself. Thoughts? - X

If you loved Mercs before, then you'll be enamored with them now. Take Serum and slot it, Equip takes Resistance IOs now, and Upgrade takes Defense. I have respecced my Mercs/FF and /Pain. It's amazing how much better they are. I also have Mercs/Nature, /Storm, /TA, /Nature, and /EA. I haven't respecced those yet. Perhaps in the future. -
Hey all. So, looking around this forum, and the other ATs", I see a recurring theme...people coming on here and asking the same question. " What is THE BEST sets?" While at one point in time, I, too, wanted to only play THE BEST. The most damaging, the most OP'd, the most UBER, etc etc. And then came along MY best. Willpower/ Staff Yes, you read that right. MY best is my WP/Staff tank. 🤔🤨 Oh, you're still reading? Great. I'm sure you're wondering why on God's green earth do I believe that WP/Staff is the best. Well, it's not. BUT to me, it's MY best. See....I can picture myself as this character. Practically all natural. I can see myself AS this toon. Especially once you understand his Bio... My toon's name is Rastus. As a kid, my dad would call me that. Unfortunately, I lost my Dad back in 2014 to cancer. I lost my Mom in 2019 (she had/beat cancer, but it was her heart that gave out). And here's where my character's bio develops. Brian "Rastus" Fury watched as his parents were slowly succumbing to cancer while he was in his prime. He volunteered to be a guinea pig for Dr. Vaz,who promised his experimental drugs could help. These drugs were meant to boost one person's immune system to the point that a blood transfusion from the subject could seek out and destroy cancerous cells in another. The side effect was that Brian's body was able to regenerate so quickly at the molecular level, that wounds were almost healed instantly. Brian KNEW he could save his parents! However ,Dr. Vaz couldn't keep an IV in Brian long enough before his cells repaired themselves. Unfortunately, Brian's parents ended up losing their battle because of this. Although he couldn't save his parents, he knew he could save others. Brian is now a hero for those that can't fight for themselves, even as he fights his own personal demons and deals with his loss. There ya go. THAT is what makes MY WP/Staff Tank MY BEST. It's personal. An extension of me. So, go ahead and calculate, to the .0001 how fast your attacks are, how much damage each attack does, how long that power takes to execute, how many Procs you can fit into each power, what the absolute "best" slotting is, etc etc. Your toon will never be as "good" as mine. And when the day comes that I, too, pass on, I hope that my fellow Heroes in game will /em torch , and tell stories/remember the advice/builds I've attempted to give (mainly in the Tanker forums), and perhaps say "He was a good man". I agree...it's hard to say there's a "bad" primary. I guess "sub par" would be better? Haha I actually like WP. One of my favorite tanks is my wp/staff. Oh, and I refuse to play Kinetic Melee or TW. As slow as they are, I hate em. I hardly ever see DB on a tanker, so I thought about that.

I wanna try something different... What do you think are the "worst 3" primary and secondary powers? I want to roll a new tank, but with a twist. Everyone always wants to know what the "best" is. Well, I wanna know the worst. I plan on trying take what most people don't play/don't like and turn it into something "good". Maybe as a challenge I guess? So...lay it on me! -X

All good. I have 1 ice tanker. I focused on making sure I had capped S/l/f/c/e/ne defense. Then tried to squeeze in resists. Oh , and recharge to get hoarfrost back quicker.

I'm not saying that you said "I have capped defenses/resists". Perhaps you misunderstood me. My gripe is that a lot of folks will post a build claiming it's the best thing since sliced bread. Only to find out when you open their build, they have every "slider" (Invulnerability, RttC, etc) turned all the way up, have BU/Gaussian's Proc activated, every incarnate power turned on, etc etc. And continue to claim that it's the best build. As I said, when I build mine, I have "sliders" turned to 1, no BU/Gaussian's proc enabled, no temp/incarnate powers turned on, etc etc. In my opinion, this is more accurate to how the toon will perform....because you can't ALWAYS have all your temp powers/incarnate powers activated, etc etc. Now...I'll get off that high horse.... If you truly have a regen rate of over 600% (with no temp/incarnate/etc), then I am genuinely intrigued. My WP/Staff tank (which I focused on max HP/+Regen), only regens 799% with just 1 mob in range of RttC. I'd like to see that build. -X

Has to be. My Wp/Staff tank only regens 799% with just 1 mob fueling RttC, with NO incarnate powers. This has always been a gripe of mine....someone will post a build and be all like "I finally got capped Defenses AND resists!" When come to find out, they've got an Accolade power (or 2) turned on, along with Rune of Protection and lord knows what else. When I build my tanks, I build them with all "sliders" set to 1, and with no Incarnate powers turned on, or any "gimmick" powers turned on. Way I see it, you can't ALWAYS have your Incarnate powers on, RoP always on, etc etc. I want to see what my baseline is. THEN I can try to improve with slotting/IO set bonuses. And finally look at Incarnates and whatnot, just as icing on the cake or for an "oh $#@! moment".
