Focused Feedback: Travel Power Updates (Build 1)
arthurh35353 replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
So... it's more niche combat power that doesn't give you a buff to defense for reasons so that people can't stack it on top of existing defense buffs (because people would abuse it that way.) This is (my opinion) a mostly useless change. I'm sure they data mined that Afterburner wasn't being picked very often, but now they changed it to give benefits (but not the defense!) for anti-KB and rooting... which no one was actually asking for. Oh, and a bit of a +fly max speed buff, instead of the old always max speed ability it had. There is nothing compelling that would make me want to invest in another power choice here. -

I'm not totally understanding the change of Afterburner into Evasive Maneuvers. The old afterburner was a pure out of combat power to hit the max flight speed and had some buffs/negatives so that you could travel in relative safety. The full flight speed buff was dumped into a sub-power of Flight and now there's a whole bug of combat powers with some out of combat buffs, with the thought you could keep from being rooted while you tanker stealth or something? The buffs seem aimed at PvP... which means they changed it from a niche out of combat power to a niche combat power, as PvP is not a large population. -

This does seem to be a problem for me too. I couldn't tell when momentum was up. I just kind of had to hope it had been 4ish seconds. There needs to be a pretty significant sound/flash or something so you can tell it's ready. -

He dismissed it because he didn't find it important and without it the disparity doesn't seem as bad. But you have to consider it compared to all the travel powers. -

You do realize people like teleport and not just because it's fast, but because they've been using it since the first TP binds came out and enjoyed the way it goes. The fact, there are lots of people that use TP and more are finding it fun with some of the updates. So it actually can make that big of a difference. Dismissing it because it's not what powergarmers use is... odd. -

Hmm. Speaking of Swift and Hurdle, they are one of the things that allows Flight, Speed and Jump to actually catch up a bit to Teleport. It would be nice if Hudle could actually take a range bonus or something so that it got the same perk as the other three travel powers. And hey, it would give a little benny to the range ATs. -

I wish Citadel would remember that. -

It is a pretty important point. If the teleporter is going to be getting there 15-20 seconds faster on just a quick 2 mile trip and they are going to be waiting for the flyers for another 20-25 seconds. I specifically did not pick EM as it is not actually a travel power. I probably won't ever pick it as it seems geared towards PVP bonuses. I had picked Afterburner before because it was specifically to go faster. Faster is just something EM does on top of its protections and flight control. -

No, it was in fact about 45 seconds difference going from slowest (Fly + Swift +AB) to Teleport that was heavily slotted. So almost twice as fast. I did not reach the speed cap (I think 76mph for just flight) and SJ+SS (swift/hurdle) was only 111mph. I know I could hit the caps with Flight+AB (old) but it appears I'll have to get at least one more slot for that. I respecced the superspeeder to 50 IOs. -

Speedo test! Flight + swift, 1 slot in each. 2.2 miles (in Talos) 1m 46s Flight + swift + AB (only remembered to use it once, but that's actually likely to happen in real life) 1m 40s Teleport (with some range global bonuses and slotted a little better). 1 minute going to 2.2 miles. SS+SJ = 1m 20s to go about 2.2ish miles. Got caught in some bushes, but that's the vagaries of SS for you. -

Yes, actually. The Ferry is not the only way to travel to PI. You can swim in and out if you want. -

So you picked a distance that is only roughly 30 seconds away with flight's flaws maximize at 90s... That's unbiased. -

The actual copies of travel powers in the Kheld sets got the boosts. The forms baked in powers did not, as they aren't supposed to be as good. -

You were the one stating it is 100% safe. That is not actually a true fact. -

I can't remember if you can get the recipes for the non-superior version to craft them. Are they all Winter types that you just get the enhancement, no crafting required? I might be too stupid and not feeling well. -

Has there been any consideration on Boosters being changed so they give a flat +5 buff rather than you have to buy five times as many of them as compared to Catalysts? Catalysts seem to be considered the more rare and powerful (as it can turn some regular IOs into superior versions) but in effect, Boosters actually end up being more rare as you need 5 of them to boost one IO. So for full set of IOs, you need 30 boosters vs. 12 Catalysts to superior an IO set. And 6 if it isn't a superior set. (more than 30 million more for boosters vs. less than 6 million for non-superior IOs to catalyze.) -

Huh. Since they want to do silly popup so you have to click another power, how about we leave Afterburner there with its full 100% fly cap increase for 33% of the time and just do a second power of +33% fly cap increase for 100% of the time and call it Supercruise mode. Make them mutually exclusive. I know I'll only ever use Supercruise myself, but someone loves their pet project power and wants to force it on us. -
Focused Feedback: Travel Power Updates (Build 1)
arthurh35353 replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I had a power I picked for travel that allowed me to travel at the top end for as long as I want (no number). Now, that power has been removed for a combat power, so I will have to respec. My ability to go as fast as I possibly want all the time is now a finangly toggle that detoggles and only puts me at top speed sometimes. "But complicated engineering feature is better!" "I want my super cruise mode back." "No, you'll take our numbers or die!" "I want my easy to use out of combat power max flight speed back. You can take your combat power back that you turned my NON-COMBAT power into." "Well, we'd have to knock about 2/3rds of the speed bump off afterburner-" "SOLD!" -

And you just proved you can cherry pick and not respond to that it is now functionally different and all you care about is numbers. To *REMOVE* evasive (because I got it for the 'speed boots' I now need to respec my level 50s with heavy IO builds and change power choices. And I no longer have a speed boost that is on all the time for long distance travel. Nowhere did I mention a single number. -

arthurh35353 replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I'm actually still not very impressed with the changes, especially ones that make you need to respec (change slots, power picks) to do so. I'm very much not thrilled with Afterburner being a stupid toggle that turns itself off (instead of suppressing). Yeah, I get that numbers are better. And I'll say it slowly again. Numbers aren't how you use the power. -
Focused Feedback: Travel Power Updates (Build 1)
arthurh35353 replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
It looks like most of the Teleport Changes this time (longer range) is still pretty good. On a heavily slotted Teleport (with range bonuses even) I'm still nearly out of endurance teleporting all the way across shadow shard zones with decently slotted stamina and IOs. So suboptimally slotted teleport will probably run out 1/2 of the way, which would really suck. A small adjustment to the base End Cost might be within a look to make TP viable compared to flight/SJ and such, which have you at full END when you get there and they aren't that much slower. Oh, and I love that I can finally break free and land/run from teleport. It no longer sucks that way! So thank you Devs! -

Oh, and /thumbtack without any arguments should just drop a thumbtack where you are at instead of an error. And weird. /thumbtack with 4584.7 2458.6 930.4 doesn't work in the Storm Palace either. Over the edge of what is considered the zone before I actually hit the wall?
