  1. Hi Everyone, I'm working on a concept/RP character and am looking for help to perhaps further optimize my build. Because this is a RP toon, most of the power choices are set and am okay with this not being a "top performer."

My Goals for this build are:

    1. Have as high regen as possible (currently at 778%)

    2. Have nearly capped S/L or melee defense (currently at 39.5% S/L)

    3. Have permanent dull pain (currently permanent)

    4. Keep all of the power choices I have in place with the exceptions below

    5. Have as many hit points as possible (currently at 2409 w/ DP)

I am open to changing the following powers and am fine not having a travel power:

    - Mystic flight

    - Arcane Bolt

    - Stealth

    - Moonbeam

    - Am open to making this toon a stalker instead if you think it would work better at meeting goals (just am generally unfamiliar with stalkers)

Are there any slotting optimizations you all would suggest? And thank you in advance for any feedback

Build below & attached as image if link doesn't work:

  2. I think this is major quality of life win and hope this change goes live! I really think this will add much improved enjoyment for those of us who level lock characters at times--there's so much fun content pre-level 30 that can feel like a slog with limited powers and I think this will make running Ouro arcs a lot more enjoyable too for the same reason.

    p.s.

while i know this is off topic, would love to see contacts level range expanded beyond 4levels before you out level them someday!

  3. This is such an exciting and welcome addition, thanks for adding this ! Just flagging that the "retro rifle" seems to float above the character whereas all of the other versions i tried looked perfectly flush. Just flagging since iirc this was an issue that was fixed with the melee weapons in the previous patch. Screenshot attached for reference and I tested this on both Blaster and Mastermind archetypes both with and without a "backpack" costume piece added.

  4. Overall he new FF set plays fine. I love the bomb animation speed up, changes to force bolt, and while I don't think it thematically makes sense, don't mind the -res added to some of the powers. However I think the loss of Force Bubble is pretty terrible. Dampening field is cool in that it provides debuff resistance, but replacing repulsion field with this power is a better choice than replacing Force Bubble which provided absolute safety to melee attacks as well as positioning and soft control. Even thematically, Force Bubble feels like a great and powerful t9 power (though i may be in the minority). Repulsion field is such a small area of effect and a poor replacement for Force Bubble (not to mention the distracting and nauseating animation), you can no longer use it to the same degree you could Force bubble to protect teammates/pets.

If nothing else, is it not possible to give Force Bubble and Dampening field the same treatment as Master and Practiced Brawler that sentinels have where you can only choose on or the other?

I mean, let's compare the MM set upgrades -

Mercs - Overall net positive gain, lost nothing. Cooldowns reduced and even a stackable damage buff.

Ninjas - Overall gain as well. No real loss. A similar stackable damage buff.

Necro - Can now summon many more temp pets, and some enhancement type adjustments.

Robots - You now have to pick other powers to keep the same debuffs, which is less optional powers in a build. And the Maintenance drone.

Robots are the only one that had this "lateral promotion" if we want to call it that. In effect the set made the easy things easier, and the hard things harder. It increased pet DPS, at the cost of END, EPA, and pet END cost.

I think @Neiska really summed up the issues well with the Bots changes here. Playing bots has become extremely endurance intensive and tight on power slots. I understand and agree with other posts that yes you can still solo AVs/GMs with these Bots changes but it is undoubtedly more difficult to do so with the loss of (what I consider) a premier element of the Assault Bot (the -regen) and the greatly increased endurance costs of attacks, compounded by the player needing to now use more personal attacks to apply -regen. Lastly, I'd add that I don't agree with the AVs/GMs being such a small part of the game considering what a larger part they are in TFs, at lvl 50, and on Redside especially. Sure most AVs can be downgraded to EBs, but for many of us they are a core feature throughout leveling a character.

  6. I did some initial testing with my bots/time MM and I have to echo what @gameboy1234 and @Mr. Apocalypse said, the Protector Bots and Assault Bot use significantly more endurance when compared to live and ran out of it quickly causing them to idle and do nothing. I also disagree with removing -regen from the Assault Bot and adding it to the blasts, it forces the player to select powers which are low on damage and heavy on endurance just to keep -regen in the build. I could understand dropping the Assault Bot's -regn to 300-400% but outright removing it seems overly punitive simply for the fact it forces the player to select subpar powers to maintain the -regen in the primary. While /Time and many other secondaries offer -regen not all of them do, this accompanied by the changes to repair (now maintenance drone) seem like far to many changes to a set that was already performing more than fine.

The changes made to necro, mercs, and ninjas all seem like nice added perks that can only help existing builds, these changes to bots do not entirely follow that theme.

  7. Has anyone had success silencing the explosion sound effects of Force Field Generator when it expires?

I created the appropriate folders listed in this thread (Weapons and V_Explo) I renamed the corresponding files listed with my silenced .ogg and it still makes the loud explosion noise. I tested modding other sounds to ensure it wasn't a setup issue (i.e. hasten, dog barks) and silenced all of those without issue, but the Force Field Generator still explodes loudly.

Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated!

  8. I'd recommend dark miasma or radiation if you want to be useful on teams and effective solo (though I'm a firm believer anything can solo if built for it!) Those two sets can use the same build for both team and solo play though (depending on power pics).

Dark Miasma offers: -regen, -dmg, -to hit, and -resistance, along with aoe heals for the team and a good amount of control powers (aoe fear, aoe stun, ST hold), and a pet that debuffs

Rad offers: -regen, -dmg, -to hit, -def, -resistance, +end recovery, +rech, +dmg, along with heals, and a holding toggle power.

I am probably missing quite a few things in both sets, additional options are Cold Domination, Time Manipulation, & Storm; though I personally found time boring on a defender and think it's more fun on trollers/mms and storm has a good amount of "non-team friendly" powers with the KB but is insanely fun to play. Cold Domination is incredibly powerful and gives lots of -def, -res, slow, and def buffs to teams, just be mindful that the shields layer ice on top of players, so it may be best to recolor them to make them look as invisible as possible to avoid any complaints.

As far as secondaries go, I like dark blast & rad blast since they have a good amount of opportunities to add procs for more dmg in your attacks.

I really don't think you can go wrong though as long as you have fun, hope this helped a bit!

That's why I'd like to get us to those 10 powers and then activate some limitation set where you can only have active 6 of those 10 powers.  They'll all have quite a range of choices within each power so you'd likely be hard pressed to find a team full of all the same incarnates.

As some others have said, I really like this idea. I think i'd say 5/10 or 4/10 would be better, but I think this would add a lot of diversity to end game content and builds. I'd even be okay with some type of diminishing returns for incarnates i.e. first two T4 powers will work at 100%, 3rd T4 power at 80%, 4th at 60% or something like that.

Overall I think Alpha slots work well and don't push many toons grossly over the edge (no more so than a high end IO build) and I think some Destiny powers work well (like Clarion) while others could have the scale of their buffs reduced a bit so it's more even overall and not as high on initial activation.

I've had similar issues. I just thought they were my speakers. Sometimes the sound would crack, but the bg sound of a youtube track would not.  And other times the sound will just quit until a restart of the client.

Hey Six Six, did my solution above work for you?

  11. Hey SuperDan, it was my pleasure I love making builds! And that is correct w/r/t the hasten slotting, keep in mind it only makes about 1sec difference, but it frees up another slot for you to use! Another option is to go with the agility alpha for more rech, def, and end mod instead of musculature, which (for this build) really only offers you more dmg (the defense debuff is wasted given your already incredibly high acc). I don't have my comp with mids on it on me right now, but if you do opt to go for agility for more def/rech, you could go degenerative in your interface slot which will help you shred through enemies even more quickly.

  12. Hey Super Dan, I have two builds for you to look at below. The first is a build that I think respects your original, it has all of the same powers except for one--I got rid of fly since that seemed like a throw away and you can buy a temp power for flying in the game. It seemed like a waste to have the jumping, speed, and fly sets. I've summarized my feedback on your original build and my changes below.

LMK your thoughts, happy to help further

    Original Build

    - overslotted in some areas i.e. you don't need the tier 6 set bonus on golden dragon fly since you can cap s/l without that and hasten can have a slot removed, boosting the recharge enhancements in them gets the recharge down to 135sec (mine) vs 136sec (yours)

    - can swap out unbreakable guard sets for cheaper IOs that offer more defense

    - little to no psi resistance at all

    - over indexed on accuracy/accuracy bonuses

    - key IOs (steadfast and gladiators armor) come too late

    - a bit more recharge can be squeezed in

    Revised Build

    - has slightly more recharge, better defenses (43.9% s/l/fire/cold and 40% energy/neg)

    - 40% psi resistance

    - Loses some resistance in all all dmg types but s/l/psi

    - Overall should be quite survivable  but is a bit more streamlined than your original

    - added force feedback proc for more recharge

    - added preventive medicine proc for absorb

    - added panacea proc for passive heal and more +end

My Build for my Katana/Invuln Toon

This is the build I'm going to use for my Katana Invuln once I finish getting some other toons to 50, It has capped  defense to all dmg types except psi, 5sec recharge on hasten, 41.5% psi resist. I realize the epic power pool may break your toon's theme, but I think it's worth considering (works for my toon)

  13. I can do 9pm EST as well for a couple of hours @oedipus_texi can spin up an in-game global channel to help coordiante this if you like, just let me know how i can help!

@Rhaethe i think we can be any secondary for controller or dominator as long as primary is ice control

  14. I am SO down for this, I have a ice/rad troller (50) ice/traps troller (lvl 40) and many other ice alts (it's my favorite controller set). Also, more than happy to roll a new toon if you all wanted to start from lvl 1 together! I also play on Everlasting Oedipus Tex

  15. Hi friends, posting about an issue I've had a couple of times on Mac where the audio is broken and begins crackling. In the past I've ridden this out and subsequent updates eventually resolved it; however it is currently still broken for me. For fellow mac users, I figured we can use this thread to provide more debugging information to help devs create a fix for this.

    System Details:

    macOS Mojave 10.14.6

    2.4GHz Intel COre i7

    16 GB RAM

    Audio Format: 48,000 Hz

My strong suspicion is that this may be a wine issue, specifically the file "winecoreaudio.drv" which is the driver for wine. Beyond this I am a bit out of my depth.

However, I found a solution that works for the time being for me:

    1. Open "Audio Midi Setup" app on your Mac (this should be in utilities, but you can also just use finder)

    2. Select "Built-in Input/Output" from the menu on the left in the app

    3. Change the Output from 48,000 Hz to 44,100 Hz (48,000 Hz appears to be the Mac default--I checked 3 different Macs)

    image.thumb.png.6737b033557190dfc240b7eca543a70c.png

So far I haven't noticed any audio degradation from doing this in game or other applications, but again if anyone else has these issues let me/devs know please!
