  1. Haley and Aphellion will try anything once, and are always trying out new experiences. In Haley's case, the more demented-looking the better. Gold Meteor charts new universes and stays up to date on TV in addition to always having time for family time because linear time is for squares. Sparkz watches bad movies weekly with friends, and at least once a month she sunbathes on foreign beaches because airports and passports are for squares. Becky loves reading history books, and has a monthly dnd game with her friends at DAMAC. Yoctosecond, Undine Princess, and Wallflower are all-round geeks. Stormcrow is a foodie. Blazing Dragon is big into free-running and and beauty routines. Prowling Ocelot watches TV, and windows, because cat. Jaguar Moth loves customizing her bike and hanging out at biker bars. Virtua Fighter is terminally online and monetizes it. And Mink actually doesn't have time for hobbies per se, but part of her work as my Bat-expy is being at least proficient/reasonably documented in sort of everything for infiltration purposes (also, polymath).
  2. Short version: Yes, you can. Long version: This is how you do it following canon so your character's story doesn't clash with everyone else's and then things escalate to bruised egos and drama. (Also, perhaps the thread could be made sticky? I think it would help people) DIVINITY: CoX STYLE All power comes from the Well of Furies, which for all purposes, is the universe itself. Every so so often, the universe connects with people showing unusual amounts of both power and will, and gives them a "direct line" and with this line comes power. These people with a direct line to the well are called incarnates. INCARNATES ARE CoX's GODS. THIS WAS STATED EXPLICITLY BY LEAD DESIGNER AFTER THE GAME's SUNSET. Gods/Incarnates are ageless but not immortal. They can be killed, and they have been several times in the past. When an incarnate dies, their power moves on and eventually finds a new vessel (just like Merulina spawned the Leviathan, or Zeus' power passed on to Statesman). The first incarnates were a stand-in for the Akkadian/Sumerian pantheon (oldest documented), that's where you find Tielekku (goddess of magic, and oldest CoX deity) and the banished pantheon. After them came the Greek pantheon, which is the one the game leans on the heaviest. Statesman did not just have "the power of Zeus"... he WAS Zeus for all purposes that matter (there WAS a reason why he didn't show his full power, feel free to play Mender Ramiel's and Pandora's Box' arcs to find out). Yes, there are exceptions to gods who can't be killed (Mot is entropy and oblivion, and "killing it" only empowers him, and Hamidon is life incarnate, so he simply cannot be killed). ANGELS AND THE CoX DIVINE HIERARCHY Incarnates are the gods. HOWEVER, in this cosmogony, "angels" serve the well, not the gods. The game shut down before we could reach that part, but "angels" in CoX are called Dimensionless, and are sort of "internal affairs" for the well. Christian angel-themed characters are probably incarnates but not exactly Dimensionless (there is no Yaweh incarnate, let's not open that can of worms). Yes, your angel character probably "hears the voice of god"... and that is the well of furies talking to them. The well of furies does many things for many reasons, some benevolent and some less so (the well started the Praetorian War). The well, however, does have an actual body and persona, they are called Ascended. An ascended is someone whose power and awareness' level has grown large enough to no longer need a well because they are a well of their own. DREAM DOCTOR IS AN ASCENDED, SO ARE RULARUU AND DJ ZERO (again, as per the game's Lead Designer). Ascended can create universes if they so want (or eat them, in Rularuu's case). The devs' plan for the game before shutdow was actually ending the world by losing a big war with well-devouring entities and push the player character into becoming an ascended, pull a Zero Hour, and end with the debut of City of Heroes 2. So, the hierarchy goes Ascended > Dimensionless > Incarnates > Metahumans > Everyone else. PS: KHELDIANS, THE "ODD GUYS OUT" Also, while I'm on that. As per the Blue King's CoH's graphic novel, Kheldians were originally intended to be CoH's "Kryptonians," and by Kryptonians I mean weirdos with more power than they have any right to and that only get even more powerful with each additional reincarnation: as per the graphic novel, killing a Kheldian only means their astral squiddy body moves on to find a new person to merge with (or possess, if nictus), thus adding the host's strength and powers to their repertoire. Statesman couldn't get rid of Requiem back in WW-II because he is literally like unto the gods. It is unclear if Kheldians are part of the well of furies or come from a different universe. TRIVIA: As a reminder, Lord Recluse is not Hades, he is -Tartarus-. Tartarus is the embodiment of hell. For decades Etoile was impregnable because it was an eugenicist hellscape thus, every time Etoile citizens curse living in Hell, Recluse wakes up to a hearty breakfast... however, since the Red Widow's return (provided the HC team doesn't eschew it from canon), it is to be assumed Recluse may grow soft and uplift Etoile, effectively surrendering his power (which is why you see his echo in Mender Ramiel's arc, thus, Batallion kills him, and since we also saw Ghost Widow's echo in that same mission, Arachnos as an organization will also be obliterated).
  3. First and foremost. Again, thanks for all your hard work and giving us new content, I do appreciate it. Also, the rogue arc was incredible (granted, it would have fitted blue side better, any hero would help an investigative reporter with such a case). The vigilante arc shows considerable improvement in your blue-side writing (previous ones were kinda like you hated heroes and there was no way to do the right thing without the dialog punishing you for it and calling you a stooge). I have pointers on how it could be improved, and hey all boil down to one question: WWBD? "WHAT WOULD BATMAN DO/SAY?" When the Longbow squad tries to push their weight around, "Batman" would have shut them down reminding them that Longbow is, for all purposes that matter, a rogue PMC: An "armed branch" of an NGO (the Freedom Corps) with no legal authority at all and that the UN only allows to exist because Miss Liberty formed them specifically to siege Etoile (which is the only reason why NATO bankrolls them, they're outsourcing their Forever War). In fact, you can validly argue that they cross the Rubicon every time they operate within U.S borders. When the hero finds the child, "Batman" would have found a way to convince him to do the right thing (which he already did once, with a reality warper), brought the doctor to Justice, and hopefully arrange a happy ending for the child by finding a solution with GIFT (no, the government wouldn't have hired the doctor since CoH is not an iron age comic or a Snyder movie, otherwise Malta would be invincible forever and ever and and Crimson's arc would end up in you disappearing to never be seen again). Mind you, it actually surprised me it wasn't a Malta plot in the end, when it started, the whole thing had "Malta" written all over its face since they're the main interested parties in a "cure" for metahumans (with all abhorrent implications). Anyway. Again, thanks for the arcs (again, I loved the rogue arc) and I trust future arcs will be even better.

  4. I heard the bug was potentially harmful, case in which I understand why it was removed but... can it be implemented as a costume like the chibi costume? The Spanking Machine is a staple of Everlasting's Pocket D! We want it back! (as well as the possibilities brought by big hands in costumes).
  5. I didn't know you could just assign zero powers. Thanks!
  6. "Non combat bosses"? How do you do that??
  7. There's no "Person" category in the editor anymore it seems, so I can't even SEE which Person NPCs I have in a group, let alone edit them or move them to a different group. And yes, I know I can edit individual characters in the "my characters" tab, but direct edit lacks options like the "do not autospawn" toggle. Is there something I'm missing?
  8. The "mind blast" power animation is right there, and Scott Summers is a thing. Granted, I'm aware that, even with an existing animation, you'd have to move the blasts' point of origin from place... but it would still be nice to have. 🙂
  9. Incline is not compel. I've had days to notice the difference, both as tank and as team support. None of which over aggro cap. The changes are there.
  10. TL;DR: The fear of fire farms is more detrimental to the game than fire farms themselves Long version: So, now as long as a mob has a ranged attack, taunt no longer compels it towards melee, so they stay put and fire from afar for at least the first 20 seconds, denying tankers their bonuses-by-surrounding-mobs, so now teams need either a healer or Wormhole to stack all mobs around tank so they don't die by firing squad. Also, taunts don't hold for long at range, so tank is no longer protecting the team against at least half the mobs every encounter. Can you see where this is going? This is called Triniy Gaming. It predicts that all teams in every game ever must be "tank/heal/DPS or GTFO" and tryhards everywhere love to force it everywhere (they forced it on Champions Online and where is that game now?). Trinity Gaming is how default Asian fantasy MMOs work... not superheroes. The simplicity in gaming is what made CoH great and unique, let's not take that from it, especially since fire farmers will ALWAYS find a way to game the system anyway. Draconian security only harms honest users, never the actual criminals, this has always been the way since the 90s and one would imagine people would have learned by now. Thanks for your attention.
  11. Oh yes, that'd be the dream, but it's unfair to put that much extra load on the devs' sholders when there's still so much we need first (like new hairpieces). That's why I went with the path of less resistance of using already-existent assets. :)
  12. First things first: Thanks for the new power, I love it. 🙂 Having said this... I understand if rendering guitars is unreasonable, but Air Guitar, Zombie Drum, and Boombox animations are right there. Why not add them to Symphony Control's power animation options?
  13. Also... please please please remove lvl lock from Giant Monsters? The Kraken is such a versatile little abomination and it's a drag to lock a group at lvl 15 to use it.
  14. I only have one Bat-archetype so she's the only one that does the "tacticool" thing (not out of "realism," mind you, more out of love for Batman's Arkham games' assault armor). I also have an archer, but just like Frank Castle, her quiver works on Hollywood/comicbook logic). The rest? Well, like regular superheroes, they get by on spandex, their powers, and keeping their phone in a boot or glove. Those few that make use of props usually have means to procure them either ex-nihilo or faster than my screen's refresh rate.
  15. Swirling portal Wall collectable objects would be great to have, some of us need our dimensional rift clickables. Also, Market Crash gives us lvl 50 Sky Raiders, LGTF gave us lvl 50 Clockwork, ASF gave us lvl 50 Gold Brickers... we need those in AE too!
  16. Bump, for visibility.
  17. Name: The Galactic Federation (organization) Status: Active Location: Raoz, in Sagitarius A-2, the closest star to the supermassive black hole in the milky way. We can't make out the existence of A-2 with Earth instruments since A-2's emmissions are blocked by a Dyson Sphere. Physical Description: Constituted by 50 species, each with unique physiology. Affiliation: An organization in itself. Idiosyncracies and way of life: As varied as species in the federation. The federation establishes contact with civilizations once they have implemented FTL travel successfully. Those budding star-faring civilizations that are proven not to be a danger to themselves and others are invited to become signatoires. Having said that, not all signatoire species are exemplars of virtue. Furthermore, alien mindsets wildly differ in what is right, but when 2 signatoire civilizations come into conflict, the federation does it best to reach a conciliatory solution. When push comes to shove, the federation deploys agents from their Peace Keeper force to pacify conflicts. Most remarkable tech hallmark: The Peace Keeper force are the federation's first army 100% armed with meta-technology in order to deal with high caliber threats and its creation was approved after the uncontrolled surge of incarnate power observed on Earth over a decade ago. Their meta-technology power armor suits grant them FTL capabilities better than those of large starships, and their advanced gravity technology enable them to perform a wide array of phenomena, from force screens and telekinesis to limited control over the space-time fabric. Other than that, all signatoire civilizations in the federation are Type II civilizations in the Kardashev scale. and at least 2 signatoires are in possession of Matrioshka Brains. Cultural Progress Level: Signatoire civilizations are either One-World governments or have grown past tribalisms as to be able to present a unified front to the federation. History: The galactic federation is actually a relatively new phenomenon, with most of its signatoire civilizations having barely hit the limited window of oportunity planets provide a sentient species to reach the stars before the next Extinction-Level Event. Current Agenda: After confirmation of the Well of Furies having taken residence on Earth, the federation forbid all contact with Earth. While the federation keeps a Peace Keeper outpost right outside the Oort cloud, their job is make sure whatever dangers come out of Earth remain confined within the Sol system. In addition to the day-to-day intergalactic politics, the federation is currently investigating the rumors of a Type III civilization from another universe attempting to make contact, particularly the distressing rumors of this Type III civilization being an cannibalistic empire.
  18. The AE Functions menu in the compass window keeps randomly disappearing. AE contacts randomly revert to basic form. Mission objectives become corrupted and show as "invalid" for the editor for no reason (you need to either delete the objective of the whole mission). There are other quirks, but these 3 are critical functions that need attention so... please?
  19. Why was this never discussed in-game? So, propose one!
  20. The superhero genre is a power fantasy by definition, a "grounded superhero" is an oxymoron. You're supposed to be out there being larger than life and having everyone stare at you in awe at what you do. Even Squirrel Girl is famous for beating Thanos and Doctor Doom and Galactus.
  21. Name: Pleiadeans Status: Active Location: The Pleiades. Physical Description: They look exactly as humans, if overall looking healthier. Affiliation: The Galactic Federation. Idiosyncracies and way of life: Pleiadeans are (mostly) what humanity could become if they got over tribalism and prejudice... if not as virtuous as one would hope. Pleiadeans are scheming and manipulative in the pursuit of their goals, also "my species outgrew warring among ourselves" doesn't mean they don't do war with others. Pleiadeans are perhaps the most ancient species in the Federation (over three million years), but they're only active for decades at a time followed by hybernation periods lasting for centuries to millennia, during which the whole species is dormant. Most remarkable tech hallmark: Pleiadeans are master terraformers and can seed life on any planet within a star's Goldilocks Zone. They apply their fourth-dimensional math and awareness to keep tabs on existing School Planets and predict the location of future ones. (School Planet: A "School Planet" is the cosmic equivalent of a Nexus Point. They're called that way because their privileged location is conductive to birthing species that will transcend three-dimensional limitations given time and the proper guidance. Also, a universe's Well's embodiment is always within a School Planet, which means a disproportionate amount of metahumans). Cultural Progress Level: Pleiadeans are one of the main pillar species of the federation, which implies they long grew past their worst aspects to become a key player of a "Galactic Village." Being masterful team players and most excelent statesmen, however, doesn't preclude them from pursuing their own agenda. History: Pleiadeans are responsible for the panspermia in at least three thousand planets (including our own). Whenever a "humanoid" alien species is found, chances are, Pleiadeans are behind their birth. Most of their panspermic experiments, however, end in failure, with species either self-destructing or failing to reach the stars before being wiped out in the next ELE. They took a special interest in Earth after accurately predicing it would become home to the Well of Furies and seeded life on a large number of Earths across the multiverse, but abandoned that approach after war with the True Rikti. Current Agenda: Pleiadeans keep their panspermia plan going in order to create species worth elevating and assimilaing in order to self-actualize. After finding the Well of Furies, they decided Terrans were destined to carry their torch. For that, they need Terrans to get their act together, but the Federation prohibits them from directly intervening. Nevertheless, they have high hopes Terrans may be the ones to stop Pleiadeans' greatest failure: Batallion. (Loving your entries, everyone!)
  22. I think by now there are enough characters of different ET origins around. How about pouring all that lore out of your head and share it with everyone else? Make the setting bigger, give us more stuff to work with for our arpees. (hopefully this may become popular enough to warrant a sticky eventually? Or perhaps a Player Content entry at the FBSA wiki) Template: Name: Status: (active? extinct?) Location: (planet, star, galaxy, cluster). Physical Description: (include any extra-human traits like psionics, etc). Affiliation: (galactic organizations are the new economic blocks). Idiosyncracies and way of life: Most remarkable tech hallmark: (the Rikti's all-pervasive gravity technology, Batallion's biotech, Praetoria was fully rebuilt on metatechnology for metas by metas, Kheldians not needing tech at all, etc). Cultural Progress Level: (in an ideal universe, societies reaching intergalactic travel would first reach post-scarcity... but it's comicbooks and it would be boring if they were all like that). History: Current Agenda: Example: Name: Annunaki. Status: Active. Location: The Crab Nebula, but can be found anywhere. Physical Description: A humanoid insect species resembling locusts. Their average height is 3 meters tall for males, and 3.8 for females. During their time on Earth, however, they adopted the guise of gigantic humanoids. Affiliation: The Galactic Federation (currently under several sanctions and barred from approaching planets under development). Idiosyncracies and way of life: From all the member species in the federation, the Annunaki are perhaps the ones sharing more things in common with humanity. Given both species' shared history, it's highly likely humanity learned its selfish, irresponsible, and exploitative ways from the Annunaki. Most Remarkable Tech Hallmark: Like the Pleiadeans and other more advanced species of the federation, Annunaki evolved into 5th dimensional awareness, and are capable of advanced psionics not unlike magic. Unlike Pleiadeans and the other more advanced species, however, they forced their evolution with technology before being ready for such responsibility. Cultural Progress Level: While they share most idyosincracies with humans, Annunaki are (mostly) past self-destructive impulses, slightly leaning towards enlightened self-interest more than they do towards slavering colonialism. History: Back during the dawn of man on Earth, the Annunaki meddled with them and domesticated humans by posing as gods and ruling them like kings until finally overthrown by Tielekku and Merulina, who sent them packing back home. The Annunaki meddled with humanity in following occasions until the federation barred them from approaching Earth. While humans beneffited technologically from Annunaki presence every time, such advancements only caused humanity to progress faster than they were ready to, leading to their current state. Current Agenda: Annunaki are intergalactic grifters rather than planetary conquerors (conduct largely frowned on by the federation), the Crey of space, stealing or conning as much as they can get away with whenever the federation isn't looking. So, your turn.
  23. Cryptic owns the Cryptic Engine, which means any software that makes use of it needs to license it from them.
  24. Before you celebrate how CO may finally be axed, let's remember that it is for this same reason we should start looking behind our backs, since Gearbox is the new steward of the Cryptic Engine, and the Embracer Group is for all purposes an evil empire. China could care less about private servers of an all-too-American game, but Gearbox might. Should the HC team start devising contingency measures just in case? Perhaps be ready to grab the database and go dark then contact us when it's time to re-surface?
