  1. Why requiring a redsider then? Wouldn't it have been easier to place the contact in Kalisti for a neutral alignment?
  2. My turn! The "A-Counting 101 Trilogy" (56284, 56746, 57558): Someone in your silly villain team wants to become a count? (or royalty). Here's a silly way how. Bela Lugosi is Dumb (55039): The Center wants a horror flick like in the days of yore, and has put Maestro in charge of directing it... and Maestro has made it YOUR problem. Bela Lugosi is Dumb II (55116): Blue-side sequel, so heroes react to the consequences of part I. How and Sweaty (55478, 55829): It's a VERY hot summer, and your villain base needs new AC. Heroic Brick vs. The Muscle Wizard (58201): Your super team's super strong member has received a challenge from the Muscle Wizard. Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice (54671): The disgruntled lieutenant of a non-descript supernatural army needs help of your villain team in dismantling a magical girl alliance. Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice (54738): Blue-side sequel to Sugar-Spice and Everything nice for heroes to react to the consequences. Nightmare Eaters (57654): Yet another sequel to Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice, but Halloween-seasonal. Attack of the Invisible Kittens (54000): Exactly what it says on the tin. A War on Christmas (53423): Hate Christmas? Let's go burn Paragon's Christmas Tree farm down to the ground! The Soul Train (57817): In case your villains ever need to collect souls, here's the dumbest way to go around it. Medical Despair (60160): Increase your villain streetcred by helping a mad scientist collapse Paragon's health system. The Hissing Link (58598): Have you ever tried to turn the whole world into cats? Knock yourself out. Splitting Headache (54110): Does your villain or mage have a killer headache modern medicine can't cure? Try a pain shaman! Dead Man's Party (56833): An off-season zombie horde is on the way to Paragon, a different kind of horde. Terror of the HaMEWdon: Save the world from an invasion of walking catnip plants.
  3. Disclaimer: I apologize beforehand if I sound rude. Alexander Pavlidis' elections arc? Villains wouldn't have cared, or would have sought profit from it. It's HEROES who cared and did something about it (or vigilantes, but honestly? Nothing in that arc would have made Statesman break your bow and kick you out of the Phalanx). And now Piecemeal's end arc? Bile didn't show the portents of the coming storm to someone who'd either profit from it or say "yeah, none of my business, this." He showed this to someone who'll hopefully do something about it (the mission even has heroic dialogue options). Is there a reason why the devs didn't mark this as blue side content? Once again, I'm nothing if not thankful for the new content and I'm thrilled at the prospect of you people giving it a try at the (maybe!) coming storm, I'm just baffled.
  4. My requests: 1) "Invincible" toggle for AVs: There are many missions where what we really want is for an NPC to be invincible and to be avoided rather than fought a-la Invincible Reichsman. 2) Night Maps: We have the Night Ward, we have (both new and old) Dark Astoria maps, we have the vortex of doom, we have Dr. Kane's Mansion... but we don't have nearly enough "night specifically" maps in AE. 3) Remove level lock from Giant Monsters: What's the point of level-locking GMs? The GM category already ignores level. Just the Kraken alone could be re-purposed for so many more things if not for the level lock. 4) Update factions: Freaklok, endgame Sky Raiders and Goldbrickers (since they do exist in Market Crash and ASF), the Path of the Dark Cimerorans, the Weakened Hamidon from LGSF, the Seed and Avatar of Hamidon as GMs. 5) Special Maps: The Eternal Prison, (new) Dark Astoria, Mother Mayhem's showdown maps (both the "astral plane" and the cave with the Well of Furies representation), Dr Kane's mansion, the Magisterium's ruins from Magi trial, and both the colosseum and the casino from Summer Blockbuster would see LOTS of use. 6) There's this weird bug where, once you set the zone enemy as a custom group, it won't let you use that group again for mission objectives. I've never understood why this is. 7) Is there a possibility of having NPC dialog lines trigger on unobstructed distance rather than absolute distance? Too many maps have the tail end relatively close to the beginning and make NPC speak right away and half the team misses the dialogs while zoning in. 8 ) "Make Giant Monster, load self": We have seen in some Game Master avatars that the technology is there, and if such were limited to the spawn point of GMs, we could get a LOT of mileage of making our own GMs without breaking the game. Here's to hoping!
  5. I'm starting this thread because, alas, too many arcs that use that keyword turn out to be farms and I'd like to have a handy list of ready-to-play comedy since I play in four comedy-oriented SGs. So, who wants to start sharing arc IDs?
  6. We have Night Ward, we have Doctor Kane's Mansion, we have the vortex of doom in first ward, and we have both versions of Dark Astoria. Please? Please? Please? Please? Please? Please? Thanks for your attention. P.S: If we could incorporate the "innerent/stance" option in AE's NPC building, that would be amazing too.
  7. Thanks for the reminder! It's been over ten years, I guess things were getting blurry in my old brain.
  8. Sorry, the post's purpose was so players were better documented and avoided things like saying their god character "is more than an incarnate." It was not my intention to post RP etiquette guidelines, especially since I don't believe in Avengers' Dynamics (unless you specifically sign up to be the butt monkey in a RP arc involving incarnates and ascended, few people will find it fun to be "the Hawkeye." Everyone eventually resent it and I've seen it happen repeatedly). Players, however, would do well that incarnate power comes with strings. Push your godly weight around too much, and the Well will start taking control of "your narrative" until you lose all free will: You'll rise when the well says you rise, and fall when the well says you fall (Tyrant anyone?). Statesman relegated himself to the sidelines years before his death, but after stopping the Cold War in the sixties and throwing the world's nuclear arsenals into the sun (reason why Malta was born) there was kinda no way back from that, thus he couldn't escape his own death when the Well (and the devs) said it was time for the story to have a new main character (the player character).
  9. Yes, that's what happened world-wise, but the Well nudged events in order to pick a champion earth in a trial-by-thunderdome in order to prepare for Batallion's arrival. It's late, though, and I can't remember if I read that too in Miller's Loregasm AMAs or ::doctor_manhattan_i_made_that_up.gif meme::
  10. Which choice is the HC team going with as HC's canon? Is Tielekku still around (languishing and weak as she was by Mot's arc), or did "the evil incarnate" kill her with the Dagger of Jocas at the end of Mot's arc and stole her power?
  11. Haley Hadron and Gold Meteor are part of the same family via Gold's daughter. They're basically Fantastic Four (eleven... big family), but worked all the intra-family drama over during the shutdown (in CO). Sparkz lives with her boyfriend while she's doing college, but the Burnells are a big, tight family (all electric mutants on mother's side). Family reunions are a blast (pun intended). Becky, Yoctosecond, and Undine Princess' families are both on different cities since they're here specifically for school. Stormcrow has no living relatives. Her household is her family. Blazing Dragon's family is back in Seoul, and she sees them twice a year, where she gets berated for not following traditional family values and doing some job without future then getting a husband. Prowling Ocelot's VG is her family. She's the family cat. Jaguar Moth's whole family was vaporized during the battle of the magisterium. Once she fulfills her end of her magical girl contract (bring back all the Praetorian souls that spilled into Primal Earth), she and her family will be allowed to skip the nigh-eternal waiting line for processing into the afterlife. Meanwhile, though, her VG is a home away from home. Mink's mom is her family, and she checks up on her often enough that the only reason she bothered moving out was not endangering her. Her uncle joins them for all special dates.
  12. Haley and Aphellion will try anything once, and are always trying out new experiences. In Haley's case, the more demented-looking the better. Gold Meteor charts new universes and stays up to date on TV in addition to always having time for family time because linear time is for squares. Sparkz watches bad movies weekly with friends, and at least once a month she sunbathes on foreign beaches because airports and passports are for squares. Becky loves reading history books, and has a monthly dnd game with her friends at DAMAC. Yoctosecond, Undine Princess, and Wallflower are all-round geeks. Stormcrow is a foodie. Blazing Dragon is big into free-running and and beauty routines. Prowling Ocelot watches TV, and windows, because cat. Jaguar Moth loves customizing her bike and hanging out at biker bars. Virtua Fighter is terminally online and monetizes it. And Mink actually doesn't have time for hobbies per se, but part of her work as my Bat-expy is being at least proficient/reasonably documented in sort of everything for infiltration purposes (also, polymath).
  13. Short version: Yes, you can. Long version: This is how you do it following canon so your character's story doesn't clash with everyone else's and then things escalate to bruised egos and drama. (Also, perhaps the thread could be made sticky? I think it would help people) DIVINITY: CoX STYLE All power comes from the Well of Furies, which for all purposes, is the universe itself. Every so so often, the universe connects with people showing unusual amounts of both power and will, and gives them a "direct line" and with this line comes power. These people with a direct line to the well are called incarnates. INCARNATES ARE CoX's GODS. THIS WAS STATED EXPLICITLY BY LEAD DESIGNER AFTER THE GAME's SUNSET. Gods/Incarnates are ageless but not immortal. They can be killed, and they have been several times in the past. When an incarnate dies, their power moves on and eventually finds a new vessel (just like Merulina spawned the Leviathan, or Zeus' power passed on to Statesman). The first incarnates were a stand-in for the Akkadian/Sumerian pantheon (oldest documented), that's where you find Tielekku (goddess of magic, and oldest CoX deity) and the banished pantheon. After them came the Greek pantheon, which is the one the game leans on the heaviest. Statesman did not just have "the power of Zeus"... he WAS Zeus for all purposes that matter (there WAS a reason why he didn't show his full power, feel free to play Mender Ramiel's and Pandora's Box' arcs to find out). Yes, there are exceptions to gods who can't be killed (Mot is entropy and oblivion, and "killing it" only empowers him, and Hamidon is life incarnate, so he simply cannot be killed). ANGELS AND THE CoX DIVINE HIERARCHY Incarnates are the gods. HOWEVER, in this cosmogony, "angels" serve the well, not the gods. The game shut down before we could reach that part, but "angels" in CoX are called Dimensionless, and are sort of "internal affairs" for the well. Christian angel-themed characters are probably incarnates but not exactly Dimensionless (there is no Yaweh incarnate, let's not open that can of worms). Yes, your angel character probably "hears the voice of god"... and that is the well of furies talking to them. The well of furies does many things for many reasons, some benevolent and some less so (the well started the Praetorian War). The well, however, does have an actual body and persona, they are called Ascended. An ascended is someone whose power and awareness' level has grown large enough to no longer need a well because they are a well of their own. DREAM DOCTOR IS AN ASCENDED, SO ARE RULARUU AND DJ ZERO (again, as per the game's Lead Designer). Ascended can create universes if they so want (or eat them, in Rularuu's case). The devs' plan for the game before shutdow was actually ending the world by losing a big war with well-devouring entities and push the player character into becoming an ascended, pull a Zero Hour, and end with the debut of City of Heroes 2. So, the hierarchy goes Ascended > Dimensionless > Incarnates > Metahumans > Everyone else. PS: KHELDIANS, THE "ODD GUYS OUT" Also, while I'm on that. As per the Blue King's CoH's graphic novel, Kheldians were originally intended to be CoH's "Kryptonians," and by Kryptonians I mean weirdos with more power than they have any right to and that only get even more powerful with each additional reincarnation: as per the graphic novel, killing a Kheldian only means their astral squiddy body moves on to find a new person to merge with (or possess, if nictus), thus adding the host's strength and powers to their repertoire. Statesman couldn't get rid of Requiem back in WW-II because he is literally like unto the gods. It is unclear if Kheldians are part of the well of furies or come from a different universe. TRIVIA: As a reminder, Lord Recluse is not Hades, he is -Tartarus-. Tartarus is the embodiment of hell. For decades Etoile was impregnable because it was an eugenicist hellscape thus, every time Etoile citizens curse living in Hell, Recluse wakes up to a hearty breakfast... however, since the Red Widow's return (provided the HC team doesn't eschew it from canon), it is to be assumed Recluse may grow soft and uplift Etoile, effectively surrendering his power (which is why you see his echo in Mender Ramiel's arc, thus, Batallion kills him, and since we also saw Ghost Widow's echo in that same mission, Arachnos as an organization will also be obliterated).
  14. First and foremost. Again, thanks for all your hard work and giving us new content, I do appreciate it. Also, the rogue arc was incredible (granted, it would have fitted blue side better, any hero would help an investigative reporter with such a case). The vigilante arc shows considerable improvement in your blue-side writing (previous ones were kinda like you hated heroes and there was no way to do the right thing without the dialog punishing you for it and calling you a stooge). I have pointers on how it could be improved, and hey all boil down to one question: WWBD? "WHAT WOULD BATMAN DO/SAY?" When the Longbow squad tries to push their weight around, "Batman" would have shut them down reminding them that Longbow is, for all purposes that matter, a rogue PMC: An "armed branch" of an NGO (the Freedom Corps) with no legal authority at all and that the UN only allows to exist because Miss Liberty formed them specifically to siege Etoile (which is the only reason why NATO bankrolls them, they're outsourcing their Forever War). In fact, you can validly argue that they cross the Rubicon every time they operate within U.S borders. When the hero finds the child, "Batman" would have found a way to convince him to do the right thing (which he already did once, with a reality warper), brought the doctor to Justice, and hopefully arrange a happy ending for the child by finding a solution with GIFT (no, the government wouldn't have hired the doctor since CoH is not an iron age comic or a Snyder movie, otherwise Malta would be invincible forever and ever and and Crimson's arc would end up in you disappearing to never be seen again). Mind you, it actually surprised me it wasn't a Malta plot in the end, when it started, the whole thing had "Malta" written all over its face since they're the main interested parties in a "cure" for metahumans (with all abhorrent implications). Anyway. Again, thanks for the arcs (again, I loved the rogue arc) and I trust future arcs will be even better.
  15. I heard the bug was potentially harmful, case in which I understand why it was removed but... can it be implemented as a costume like the chibi costume? The Spanking Machine is a staple of Everlasting's Pocket D! We want it back! (as well as the possibilities brought by big hands in costumes).
  16. There's no "Person" category in the editor anymore it seems, so I can't even SEE which Person NPCs I have in a group, let alone edit them or move them to a different group. And yes, I know I can edit individual characters in the "my characters" tab, but direct edit lacks options like the "do not autospawn" toggle. Is there something I'm missing?
  17. The "mind blast" power animation is right there, and Scott Summers is a thing. Granted, I'm aware that, even with an existing animation, you'd have to move the blasts' point of origin from place... but it would still be nice to have. 🙂
  18. Incline is not compel. I've had days to notice the difference, both as tank and as team support. None of which over aggro cap. The changes are there.
  19. TL;DR: The fear of fire farms is more detrimental to the game than fire farms themselves Long version: So, now as long as a mob has a ranged attack, taunt no longer compels it towards melee, so they stay put and fire from afar for at least the first 20 seconds, denying tankers their bonuses-by-surrounding-mobs, so now teams need either a healer or Wormhole to stack all mobs around tank so they don't die by firing squad. Also, taunts don't hold for long at range, so tank is no longer protecting the team against at least half the mobs every encounter. Can you see where this is going? This is called Triniy Gaming. It predicts that all teams in every game ever must be "tank/heal/DPS or GTFO" and tryhards everywhere love to force it everywhere (they forced it on Champions Online and where is that game now?). Trinity Gaming is how default Asian fantasy MMOs work... not superheroes. The simplicity in gaming is what made CoH great and unique, let's not take that from it, especially since fire farmers will ALWAYS find a way to game the system anyway. Draconian security only harms honest users, never the actual criminals, this has always been the way since the 90s and one would imagine people would have learned by now. Thanks for your attention.
  20. Oh yes, that'd be the dream, but it's unfair to put that much extra load on the devs' sholders when there's still so much we need first (like new hairpieces). That's why I went with the path of less resistance of using already-existent assets. :)
  21. First things first: Thanks for the new power, I love it. 🙂 Having said this... I understand if rendering guitars is unreasonable, but Air Guitar, Zombie Drum, and Boombox animations are right there. Why not add them to Symphony Control's power animation options?
