  1. for anyone who hasn't looked at this; using Boost Range or Power Boost (or both) turns stun into a 90s recharge ability with power boost, it becomes an AoE, boost range, a ranged attack so you can load stun up with procs and turn it into a micro nuke it takes melee attack and stun sets so with hecatomb, makos, touch of death, gladiator's strike, then maybe pounding slugfest +disorient ... you get an aoe mag 5 stun that deals 300 damage Just wanted to share this peculiar discovery. I can't figure out how to make much out of it.
  2. Really appreciate the changes to Teleport and the Recall Friend component of Teleport Target. Very positive.
  3. Just echoing that it feels weird that Stealth and Infiltration can't be used together. I understand that the stealth bonuses shouldn't stack, but it runs a bit against the changes made to other pools (e.g. SJ + CJ, Hover+Flight) and all of them + ninja/athletic/beast. Especially insofar as SuperSpeed does not suffer the same penalty.
  4. Oof no changes to traps trip mine, time bomb. Love the changes to AR, RoP, Rooted, Rest.

    MA/Regen

Hi folks, working on a MA/Regen. My first real brute project. Pre-incarnates 76hp/s regen 47% S/L def 48% Melee def 33% Ranged def 141% Global recharge I'm not really sure how to make the most of Regen; it seems like emphasizing resists would match the powerset better than Def. Not sure. Thank you for taking a look!
  6. I have to agree with the Earth/Storm assessment, the control patches in Earth and summons in Storm really give a feeling of being aloof. You create an environment that takes care of the enemies, rather than focusing on specific enemies with attacks. Add Fold Space. that being said, it'll be very low damage until you get Tornado and Lightning Storm at 35 and 38. If you're OK with feeling very much like a support character below those levels, this is a good combo. If you want to slaughter (rapidly defeat?) enemies from lv1, you're probably looking at Storm, Time, or Kinetics on a defender/corruptor.
  7. If you are trailing a fire farming brute, Single Target damage on the EBs is the most impactful way to improve clear time (in my experience)
  8. I've seen this pop up a few times, the -Recovery from Poison.Poison Trap only lasts for a single second when the trap itself detonates, then it clears. I have a Poison/Elec and it is not a sapping combo. the strongest sapping synergy in a support set is Thermal Radiation with Heat Exhaustion.
  9. It might not meet your needs but I've put together a build that drops a ton of defense and recharge in favor of balancing the resists out a bit. I always run on teams with my tanker, so I find that the builds 36% melee, and 30% ranged defense base values are fine. On teams running +4, there's typically more than enough +def floating around. More importantly, the emphasis on PBAoE stuns means I'm only feeling bosses and up. I chase Energy and Toxic Res hard, and rely on FF+Rech to raise my puny 33% base rech to acceptable levels. Easy enough to swap CJ for Hasten. Even easier to replace the 3 powers I've taken to hit Fold Space. Benchmarks (no procs, no incarnates). Here's the build:
  10. Hi folks, enjoying my ice/sonic and curious about end-game builds. I'm coming from playing a number of support characters so I'm struggling a little with slotting goals. I don't think I can stomach being a ranged blaster with disruption aura available causing pbAoE -14% res. With that in mind, I've put together two builds. Build 1, S/L/E Softcap (44%E), Scorpion Shield, few procs Build 2: 32% ranged, 31% melee, procs (over 100 more damage per freeze ray). Fire APP (3x holds, bonfire) Would love for any advice or thoughts about this character, primarily expecting to team but never opposed to solo.
  11. Firstly, @krj12 if you take the first build and activate the Agility Core Paragon incarnate, you can free up quite a few slots to pursue the 4-slot Reactive Defenses 3% melee. Here's a variant that takes Agility Core, drops ranged to 44.7% but boosts melee def to 36.6% I've created an alternate version of the build, swapping the Fighting pool for Howl and Siren's Song. They're both 6-slotted with Artillery to keep the ranged def cap. I'm still pretty unclear on how to make the most of the powersets, but sonic attack especially. Changes from v1, still no incarnates: -5%ish def to most, but still 44.9% ranged +5-10% res all (except a little less S/L) -40% global to-hit, but still enough acc, I think? +Howl, +Siren's Song -18% recovery, about 0.34/s
  12. Hi folks, been working on my Sonic/Sonic Defender a bit, looking for some feedback! Without any incarnates I've managed: 168% recharge, 45% ranged defense, (36.8% E/N, 22.8% to others) >33% res all, 71.6% s/l res without tough running I'm a little concerned about my recovery, 3.32/s with about 1.71/s drained with everything I need running. I'm also unsure of which Incarnates to take, Cardiac seems to be a good fit, what are your thoughts about Destiny? And finally, I'm not sure I've made the most of my attack powerset. Whether it be power selection or slotting. Thank you and warm regards, Skreetch
  13. Hello again Boomie! I've moved a few slots around: -4 slots from Boxing (hurt me to see Abs Amaze in there) +1 slot to Hover (Kismet Acc) +3 slots to Arctic Fog (6 slot Reactive Defenses) +0 slots to Tesla Cage -- Swap to Superior Will of the Controller +1 slot to Tough (add Steadfast Knockback Prot -- nets +1.5% end recov with below) -1 slot Fly (remove zephyr knockback prot) +0 slots to Poisonous Ray -- swap your 6x thunderstrike for 5x Decimation (skip dam/rec) and Touch of Lady Grey damage proc -1 slot Benumb (drop a rech) -1 slot Heat Loss (drop Performance Shifter, end/rech) 2 slots left over -- could get 7.5% rech bonus from putting 5-slot Panacea in Conductive Aura. (could also leave the slots in Benumb and Heat Loss, but they were contributing almost zero recharge). -- could also get +18% accuracy through getting to 4slot LoTG in Maneuvers and Weave. Debated dropping Fly for Focused Accuracy. Due to the +5% ranged def boost with Superior will of the Cont. you retain softcapped but gain 5% global rech which brings Benumb .5s off perma and Heat Loss 2s off. Also chance to proc Build Up in Poisonous Ray. I support Tesla Cage does about 10 less damage. 5dpa-ish. Seems like a good swap for the 5% global rech.
  14. Boomie thank you so much for sharing! I'm not set on Leviathan and have been mostly fumbling around with the build. Yours looks incredible and I'm very excited to try it out, I wasn't sure how hard to go into procs. A lot of feedback in game and on the forums indicated that Elec was very low damage so it felt appropriate to emphasize them. I look forward to seeing how your build performs! As a result, I'm curious where your damage is coming from; seems like plenty single target -- does it feel strong AoE too? Thank you! I apologize for taking so long to reply!
  15. Hi Folks, I've dusted off my 50 Elec/Cold controller and am looking for some feedback on a build I've put together for him: I'm a little at a loss: I've attempted to hit a high level of recharge in order to keep Heat Loss and Sleet on quick timers. Global recharge is high enough for Perma Hasten once I replace the 5-slot decimation or positron blast in the immobs with their purple cousins. Defense sits at 25%ish to all. I might swap back to the Ice APP, which worked quite well with Hibernate, Frozen Armor, and Ice Storm. I'm not sure about the procs; I followed my meager knowledge on the subject and avoided recharge in the powers that I slotted with procs. I'm also note sure about status protection :( Thank you for reading!
  16. Thank you both for your feedback! Ive been playing the build I posted (Although incomplete) and, so far, both of your sets of feedback feel spot on. i have more than enough recharge and the extra defense and damage would be great. When my def is softcapped through teaming, the build is insane. I’m expecting to migrate towards soft capping defense, which I suspect will be a balancing act w/r/t recharge. I’ve been surprised by how little Poison Trap actually matters. For a long time it felt extremely impressive. But now, it’s just worse than black star and Void judgement While it may be due to MISSing with the power, it just doesn’t have that significant of an impact. Blackstar + void judgement only leaves bosses, even without soul drain. PTrap remains my third most-damaging AoE power but I don’t really encounter circumstances where I need a third AoE bomb. to that end, I don’t even use Tenebrous, nor Envenom the majority of the time. the challenge is in surviving the alpha. I haven’t completed the build but wanted to share and thank you for your responses. Probably 40% complete thus far.
  17. Hi folks, Boy have I been surprised by the recent popularity of Poison posts; when I made my Poison defender in January there were so few resources out there! I'd like to take advantage of the moment to ask for some help with the following. Currently, I'm most focused on my Poison/Dark, but I also have a Poison/Ice and Poison/Water if anyone has winning builds for those combinations. It would also be foolish not to acknowledge @Frosticuswhose poison guide was immensely helpful. W/R/T my Poison/Dark, Squalor: I think the biggest question for me is whether to take: Combat Jumping, Vengeance, Empty Power (Victory Rush?) -- +4%ish defense, +15% global recharge, Kismet's +6% Acc Mystic Flight, Spirit Ward, Rune of Protection -- 50% uptime Mez immunity, Preventative Medicine's Absorb in Spirit Ward. Speed of Sound (replaces Super Speed), Vengeance, Empty Power (Victory Rush?), Empty Power (Alkaloid?) -- gain some extra slots, Jaunt brings Venomous Gas into melee instantly and is a major thematic win I have a few other questions which I'd love some feedback on; What balance of Melee Def + Venemous Gas's -ToHit makes sense to you? Currently I'm running -19% ToHit from VG and 25.6% Melee Defense. How can I interpret the -ToHit from VG? Or the Dark Blast powers? Are they half as powerful as defense? Is -ToHit resisted differently by level? How do you make the most of Dark Blast as a set? I've heavily indexed into recharge in order to leverage Soul Drain. Should Blackstar be a proc vehicle? Or does the 5 slot Armageddon work well? Is it worthwhile to frankenslot Tenebrous Tentacles to bring in the Annihilation -Res proc? It seems like it would proc irregularly. Would the Gravitational Anchor chance to hold (if put in Tenebrous Tentacles) interact well with Poison Trap? Is Theft of Essence worthwhile in Life Drain? With the amount of recharge in the build and the power, I'm not sure about having any procs in it at all! 3.56e/s recovery vs. 1.84e/s drain feels bad man, can Theft of Essence counterbalance this? Thank you for reading! Here's my build for v3, which is currently my favorite, 33.1% def to Ranged, 25.6% to Melee, 20% to AoE. 178% recharge.
  18. Hi folks, I first want to bring up a few polish and NON-NUMERIC changes to Sonic Resonance that would improve my (and I thus suspect others's) experience with the set. Sonic Repulsion --> Change the sound! (Inordinately loud when compared to other game sounds. Prohibitively loud. Seriously.) Liquefy --> Increase visibility of the effect patch (Liquefy is shamefully low-vis compared to Tar Patch, Whirlpool, Earthquake, Freezing Rain... It's even harder to see than Quicksand and Glue Arrow!!) I want it to be clear where I've put it! Now I'd like to take an additional moment to share a few numerical suggestions Sonic Siphon --> lower cast time to 1.00s (like shriek) and possibly raise -res to 40% (parity with JUST the -res part of Poison's Envenom, which also has -def, -regen, and splashes an AoE and casts in 1.33s as opposed to siphons base 2.17s) Sonic Dispersion --> Add Sleep protection (which is present in Clarity but missing from dispersion and is thematically reasonable) and, maybe, Psi resistance (which brings it closer to Electric Affinity's Farady Cage, but still would be missing resistance to recovery, recharge, and all forms of knock) And that's it! Overall the set is really fun, but there's just a little polish missing, in my opinion. I appreciate that powersets shouldn't all feel the same and have tried to keep the changes as minor as possible while removing some of the pain points of piloting the set. To be frank, I would be extremely gratified by the first two changes proposed! Just changing the effect sound of Sonic Repulsion and visibility of Liquefy would make a huge quality of life impact!
  19. I also feel that sonic should really have Psy resist; disappointed that ELA got full-range status immunity and +res while sonic languishes. The PBAoE status protection is incredibly strong! FFG from Traps also has it.
  20. Thank you Doc, you're totally correct w/r/t the build -- I got overly focused on hitting defensive milestones as I've struggled a good deal with that in the past. I really appreciate your thoughts and look forward to getting this character up to take advantage of your guidance!
  21. Oedipus I think you're missing out on one of COH's greatest joys here; Teleport!
  22. Hello folks, I've been working on an Electricity Control / Darkness Affinity build and have gotten it to an interesting place -- I'm not sure how to finish it out! I'm looking at the final three power selections: (I have 3 power picks and 1 slot left to allocate) Not sure how the recharge amounts are going to feel -- can get a little more using a Def APP (for LoTG) or swapping Positrons to Ragnarok in Chain Fences -- other changes would be harder to manage Hate to see 5 slots & Superior Blistering Cold in Boxing :( -- maybe I can make up for it with an APP power. Obviously overkill nearly maxing typed & positional defenses, would welcome any way to focus on one or the other, the presence of both was not intentional. Borrowed some slotting from Camel's post here Camel's Fire/Dark/Fire build -- had to make a bunch of adjustments but wouldn't be where I am without it. Specifically wanted to exemplar more effectively, leading to the 6-slot Arcane Bolt and emphasis on Static Field. I consider all three of the super power pools (Experimentation, Force of Will, Sorcery) pretty much equivalent. And I think it's worth saying that pretty much the entire reason I'm in Electricity Control is Static Field. I find Mass Hypnosis almost as compelling, but don't like Plant Control (despite its power level). 24. Thanks for the feedback 5099 and Salous! @5099y_74c05, I can absolutely imagine the following exchange of Fire Mastery powers for Deceive and Trip Mine: - Fire Blast (5 slot Ragnarock) + Trip mine (5 slot Armageddon) - Rise of the Phoenix (1 slot Stun) + Deceive (1 slot Coercive Persuasion: Contagious Confusion) What would you recommend for Deceive slotting? Might shift 4x slots out of Web Grenade into Deceive to get the 5-slot for Coercive Persuasion @Salous Mids reborn is not offering the Controller Epic Set (Superior Will of the Controller) as a slotting option for Poison Trap, can you confirm it fits? I believe you, just a note 🙂 with 5x damage procs in PTrap I've lost perma PA, although I can push the 4x Soulbound Allegiance in Phant out for 4x Expedient and get back to Perma PA (just barely) That would leave the build like this:
  25. Hello friends, I've been toying with an illusion/traps controller build and am now at a place where'd I'd love some feedback. I'm at: 210% recharge prior to incarnates Perma PA (59s recharge) 45% Ranged defense unintentionally 45% Energy & Negative defense 38% def to everything else 2.93e/s recovery with 1.13e/s drain +78% acc Pretty excited about those numbers and also excited about the character concept. Very new to creating builds, however, and would love to hear any constructive feedback! I don't feel like there's much opportunity to swap sets as I had to reaaally focus on the recharge bonuses to get PA in line. Please let me know what you think!
