  1. What I'd love (speaking only for myself here):

-New level 50 missions/trials/TFs that have stupidly OP fight mechanics. I don't mean missions per se. I mean the end bosses of them. Just stupidly hard to fight. They laugh at defense softcaps/-res debuffs/inspiration stacking/destiny/judgement/procs/all other level 50 min/max staples. They break all the rules. (And these "end bosses" would be tweaked every ~3 months so that the strategy for defeating them would never be the same. Similar to how Hamidon was in the early days of live.)

Of course you'd only be able to do this if you introduced new incarnate slots/currency that can only be unlocked fighting these bosses. (Otherwise people would just ignore them like they do Dark Astoria.)

I'd rather this be the direction the PVE game moves in. Rebalancing the ITF/LGTF/etc around tricked out IOs and Incarnate powers just seems so misguided. The game is 17 years old. It doesn't matter how quickly you can run through old content.

In my experience in everlasting the roleplaying community has NOT been very friendly or accepting to newcomers (or perhaps specifically me?).  They don’t like to laugh.  They’re very uptight.  They often seem annoyed by my presence.   Perhaps my punctuation and spelling isnt perfect enough.  Maybe they dont care for my characters backstory or something.  Idk but i’ve never had any luck with roleplaying, as i tend to just get driven off or ignored by the clique nature of it.  RP’ers can be overly serious and my characters trickster personality with a sense of humor maybe rubs people the wrong way.     Excuse me for not wanting to use [walk] everywhere.  I’m a freakin’ super hero.   I fight bad guys.   You’d think the RP community was a weaboo furry emo angst club by my experiences.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time. Here's some suggestions that might help you:
-Join an RP supergroup and tell them you want to get to know them in RP and are up for collaborating on stories.
-Run an RP event of some kind so that people will have to interact with you.

-Run RP teams. (And advertise them in LFG/ETFs/etc)
-Sign up at the City of Roleplay RP discord and look for people to RP with: https://discord.gg/hthZHrA4

-Go to the various player-run nightclubs and talk to the staff. Tell them you're new. Ask if they can introduce you to people.

-Go to various RP events (such as the Hero Corps mixer thingie). Talk to the organisers. Say you are new and want to meet people.

-Wallflower in Pocket D for a while. Listen to others talk. React to people rather than expect them to react to you. (The absolute worst thing you can do is just walk up to random people you don't know, who might be busy with others, and start talking about yourself/your backstory. They'll usually just ignore you and that doesn't feel good.)

Also, you mentioned that you have a sense of humor that you worry might rub people the wrong way. One thing I've noticed is a lot of people RP characters with a Deadpool/Joss Whedon/Geeky sense of humour where they make jokes/sassy comments with the intention of making themselves look smarter than the people around them. I don't know if this applies to you, but it's something to be mindful of, I think. There is nothing more annoying that someone constantly self-aggrandizing with humour at the expense of everyone around them. When in doubt - make yourself the butt of the joke.

    Good luck. :-)

Citation needed. Until we have it, this opinion is nothing but that. It may have been true back before the snap. I find it a ridiculous assumption now.

I remember the devs confirming this about a year ago. (Just went looking, but wasn't able to find the post)

My memory is a little fuzzy, but IIRC they did a bunch of datamining and found that not only do most players use SOs, but most of the players who use IOs just slot random stuff and hope for the best.

  4. Been testing out EM in 1v1 PVP. It seems really great. It does a lot of damage, but it hasn't taken the Scrapper top spot (that's still Dark Melee) or Brute top spot (that's still Super Strength). I'd put it right up there with Street Justice / Rad Melee. Given how bad so many melee sets are in PVP, it's nice to have another good one.

  5. @Miltonaut

Ill/Emp is a good combo: Fortitude, Adrenalin Boost, and Clear Mind? With heals on top, and phantom army/decoy to tank stuff? Very helpful stuff. Especially for squishy team mates. The medicine pool can be useful due to Field Medic boosting all your heals by 25% for 60s. (Plus the extra rez. Allowing you to have up to three ally-rez powers if you include the P2W one, or six if you've taken the barrier rez incarnate power. Useful if you're doing casual league content where people are dying all the time.)

Sure, you're not going to contribute that much to min/max teams. (To be honest, anything other than DPS, +damage, or -res isn't all that useful in min/max teams.) But on mixed ability teams (the majority of teams) you'll be good.

Also worth mentioning that, unlike PVE, dedicated healers ARE a thing in PVP. (And ill/emp is one of the best combos for them.) Here's a guide on it in case you're curious: https://docs.google.com/document/d/167DVoNfhI2XWLHfLa90wkmxY4tY_AWBd68HBdPpK4qM/edit

@America's Angel I thought those things turned off your toggles. I know the last time I got a void skiff, it de-toggled me - essentially making it worthless. No toggles in a pvp zone is not a good idea in my experience.

    Thanks for the tip, though.

Ah no worries, thought you were just planning to badge. :)

I'm just gonna go ahead and assume the pvp community is breathing a sigh of relief that people can't slowly fly away with a p2w jetpack.

It's so people can't fly indefinitely post jaunt in zones. Badgers can still buy a 2min jetpack for 10k. Everyone wins.

  9. @Blackbird71 @ZacKing @NewXToa & others - have you actually tested these new TP powers out in game, or are you arguing from a purely philosophical standpoint? I ask this because often a concern we have on paper turns out to be irrelevant when tested in "real world" settings.

As a powergamer, I was initially wary of the changes. But after playtesting them, being able to teleport to a travel hub base three times in ten minutes is more than enough for me. (I don't even use LRT to teleport directly to zones. I just use it to go to a travel hub base. Because I'm too lazy to get the exploration badges. If these changes work for a player as lazy as me, they should be fine for everyone.)

Also, arguments that say "What's the downside of letting the new base portal powers recharge instantly?" or "What's the downside of just giving us /enterbasefrompasscode everywhere but without the bad exploit attached?" are not valid. The lack of a negative is not justification. You need the presence of a positive. For example, what if I asked: "what's the downside of making capes slightly longer?" There wouldn't be one. Does that mean the devs should make capes longer? Obviously not. If a change is to be made, then it has to be justified. The best way to do this is to look at player behaviour. The devs did this with base TP portals by datamining player behaviour, finding a solution that 95% of people will be happy with, and going with it.

"Aha!" I hear you cry "What about the remaining 5%?"

A valid point. Let's consider those 5% of people who tp to base more than 3 times per 10 minutes. They are likely to be:

    -Speed runners

    -Base crafters

    -Plaque/Exploration badge hunters.

Speedrunners are adapting just fine by alternating who summons the portals. Base crafters are adapting just fine by standing next to a SG portal in zone. And as for plaque/exploration badge hunters? Well yeah they have it harder now. But honestly the one thing /enterbasefrompasscode DID make too easy was collecting exploration badges/plaques. Badges are meant to be a timesink, so this isn't a negative change IMO. (Certainly not one worth of a 21 page thread.)

Like I said at the start, on paper your concerns seem valid. But when you apply them to  a "real world" setting they just don't seem that much of a big deal.

  10. I understand the intention in giving the mobs a split of damage types that reflects the split in the game as a whole. But in real-world play, this isn't how the mobs are encountered. (Psychic damage, for example, isn't found in 6% of every mob in every mission - it's often found in EVERY mob in certain missions.)

Also, standing still and letting enemies hit you doesn't reflect the mitigation provided by certain sets' offensive capabilities.

What might be better is to create eight missions, each one filled with enemies doing a single damage type. And then run each of the armour sets through them using War Mace as the secondary. You could then pull an average survival time across the missions (weighted by damage type frequency in the game world) to determine the real rankings of the armour sets on SOs.

  11. Gaiman wrote an marvels Elseworlds called "1602". Check that out first. Totally seems your deal.

    Once you're done with that...

Marvels by Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross is incredible.

Frank Miller's work in the 90s on Daredevil and Wolverine

Grant Morrison's run on New X-Men

    Garth Ennis's run on Punisher

Ed Brubaker's run on Captain America

    Ed Brubaker's run on Daredevil

Brian Michael Bendis's run on Daredevil

Brian Michael Bendis's run on Alias

Jonathan Hickman's run on Fantastic Four and its sister series "FF"

Old Man Logan by Mark Millar

    Runaways by Brian K Vaughan

    Vision by Tom King

Books of Doom by Ed Brubaker

    Moon Knight by Warren Ellis
The Superior Foes of Spider-Man by Nick Spencer

If you're into event books, The Infinity Gauntlet, Age of Apocalypse, and Civil War were all good.

  12. @Jimmy Colours look good! They're fine as they are tbh, but if you were going to change anything, maybe...

-Recolour the shadow shard zones to a different blue? (They are hero zones, after all)

-Also do this for the hazard zones?

-Make co-op zones like RWZ, Pocket D, Dark Astoria, and Cimerora purple instead? (Red+Blue = purple!)
