  1. Windows 10/11: Settings app, Accessibility, in Keyboard there should be an entry to “Use PrintScreen to open Screen Capture Utility”, turn it off.
  2. Rosetta 2 handles this for free. Parallels sub not required. To install it via Terminal (or find out if it is already installed): /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
  3. Is it the Matthew Habashy arc? The first arc uses Solo Missions to isolate the player for part of the story. Checking the Fire Cave and visiting the Hellion hideout in disguise only one player can enter. There are other solo missions in the arcs for Part II (Costel and Fields). Part III (Thierry) should be able to team up with friends for the whole ride. Shining Stars and the other arcs in AP should be unaffected. Let me know if that helps.
  4. 100% on the Daft Punk. Makes Legacy that much more special to me. There's no shortage of Retro Synth music out there, but it'll be an interesting choice of composer regardless. (Or lack thereof if they go atmospheric/cinematic score only and shun more detailed music.)
  5. Deadline Hollywood's reporting stated it's a reboot, not a sequel, so if anyone from Tron or Tron: Legacy appears it'll be cameos most likely. Jared Leto has me worried. Between Suicide Squad and Morbius, he's not doing too hot in the superhero genre. Tron isn't more than a skip away from that scene.
  6. Does that system have any software that would interfere with mouse activity? Like a helper app or something in the System Tray? If you're not sure, Win 8 and later you can open Task Manager and in Startup disable anything not made by Microsoft and reboot. Try the game. If the mouse works, one at a time enable Startup apps until the behavior returns. Otherwise if it still happens with Startup apps disabled, go ahead and reenable them all.
  7. Might need to file a support ticket. Not much we players can do to help with that. 👍 Got the right idea, though. Tell them all you remember about them.
  8. Not at all. It is a Wiki, and I am human, I do make mistakes!
  9. I had no clue January 4th was going to be huge. A month before, I was making a guide to Homecoming specific changes since Issue 24 for new players to brush up on. I didn’t realize how big of a list that was going to turn out to be, so I sectioned it up and put collapsible headings. Now I think it’s ready to be dissected by wiki editors to adjust, add and trim away. But also for new players: here’s a field guide for coming back to Paragon City and environs. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/What's_new_in_Homecoming_for_Returning_Players
  10. Speaking for Everlasting, we have enough people to be able to run MSR and Hami at least twice a day. I think we're doing fine.
  11. I think the Arc is named "Don't Stop Believing".
  12. The fun part for any new player: Costume Creator. Unlike WoW and other MMOs, costumes are completely decoupled from gear choices (Enhancements don't affect your look at all.) You can make your character look however you like from the start. You have six costume slots to start with (six different looks). You don't have to do them all right away, but costume edits at a tailor (Icon or Facemaker) are FREE until Level 10 if you want to get your look just right. At Level 10, you gain a free costume change token every 10 levels to cover the remaining four slots you can earn in-game for a total of ten costumes per character. All other costume edits cost in INF (the more parts you edit, the higher the fee) with Level 10 being the cheapest and Level 50 being full price. You can also save costumes as a .costume file on your computer. For example if you want to make a family of heroes who look similar, or want to share the costume with another player, or want a backup of a costume to return to in case you make a mistake you don't like. Biggest catch of the system: Costumes are gender-typed (Male, Female and yes, Humongous) so parts on a Male toon won't load on a Female or Humongous and thrice-versa. (Is that even a phrase?) You can mix genders on the same character if you prefer: want a Bruce Banner Hulk, or got an Iron Man in a large Exo-Frame suit? Male and Humongous costume slots can be done. Or you can be a shapeshifter who can be anything. (Got to visit a tailor for the "Plastic Surgeon" contact to do that.)
  13. What, with necromancy? Go for broke, let's get Alistair Sutton and Quint "The Fist" Velasquez up in here!
  14. If it helps: Archetype, Powerset, Powers. Always in that order. Archetypes are sweeping groups of heroes, with powers being specific abilities. Powersets are the glue in between. Stealthily characters: Look at Illusion powersets (For Controller & Dominator archetypes) and Stalker Archetype (Stealth + Melee, single target attacks). If those don't work, Concealment is a power pool choice. (Deciphering game-speak: you can add Stealth to any character you like!) Archers: available on three Archetypes, so you can choose between -- Blasters: High damage attacks with Melee backup powers (just in case someone closes in). Got a Cliff Barton or Kate Bishop type rambling in your brain? This might be them. Can't take a beating, though. Corruptors: Ranged attacks with debuff and support abilities. Good for someone who leans on the bow, but has abilities to help others. (Red Mage? Post Apocalyptic Warrior? Up to you.) Sentinels: Single Target Ranged attacks with Self-Defensive abilities. More of a Ranger/Hunter Type. Tanks are melee in this game. (Closest 'ranged tank' is a Sentinel, but they can't take as much aggro.) As well as their counterparts Brutes who aggro less enemies but have a rage mechanic that boosts their damage the more they attack. The other melee choices are Stalker (already mentioned; best for single target fighting, they cannot tank at all) and Scrappers (less aggro but more damaging attacks than a tank or brute.)
  15. You can put in a ticket with Support for this kind of problem. Click on Support above. (Support tickets are confidential between you and HC Staff.) Include as much as you can about your lost account: character names, biographies, costumes you remember, what level your main toons are. Anything you remember to help prove you own the account. While the email address may not be likely revealed, the email provider, or your forum name might be a hint they can share to help you.
  16. Similar to the end of the Safe Mode client, I imagine they may tell Tequila users to install HC launcher and report any technical issues they have left to fix. They can't fix preferential ones. ("I've used Tequila for years, so 😝" isn't fixable.) After that period, they'll just take the manifests offline on a given date and that's the end. Tequila would only work at that point with other servers or Titan Network's utilities. (Or anyone else who offers a manifest for something else.) I doubt there will be a "you've got two weeks, stop using Tequila" kind of deal, and they have plenty of work to do in other areas first (Last MassivelyOp article gave "very very soon" as a ETA of the Beta cycle for the next Page release) but Tequila and Island Rum support (along with any other manifest patcher... is Penguin on the Rocks still a thing?) my guess is they are very likely all going to stop being able to patch Homecoming this year at the latest.
  17. Accounts are linked to your email address. Do you remember which email address you used when you signed up? If you do, you can try a password reset. If you have a hard time remembering and you didn't delete the welcome email, try searching "Homecoming" in your Inbox, Spam folder, or any other folder you'd use to sort mail. Then it's a simple process: 1. Reset your forum password. Type the email address, then open the message and click the recovery link. Set a new forum password. 2. Login to the forums with that account, visit the Game Account Center and set a new client password. (Don't need to remember the old one. Changes take effect immediately.) The game client would then be the only piece left. Files saved locally will be gone (costumes, power customizations saved, any AE work not published, mods, etc.) but you will have your characters back.
  18. Hell, even the forum footer is making me smile!
  19. For obvious reasons, revisiting my reply above: 50% less likely they're avoiding Homecoming for legal reasons now.
  20. Pro-Tip: if you're a dork like me and read the new Legal Agreement on the game client from top to bottom, your login will time out. Just click Accept. 😄
  21. Look at you who knows so much. Just so happens that they're only MOSTLY dead.
  22. Hypotheticals? I'd love to see Black Pebble, Sexy Jay, War Witch and or Ex Libris tried HC or contributed to it. Realistically? If they did, we'd likely never know. Privacy being a large issue, as a lot of Paragon Studios people had their RL names attached where many folks here do not. (2012 was well before doxxing was a "Holy crap, what did that troll try to do to you?" kind of outcome. That's not the case today.) Also: working in a Union shop as a number of Development Studios are organizing now, doing non-union work in the same field as a hobby or side-hustle is a big "neoup."
  23. You have been heard: small pop shards should be merged. I understand. And politely disagree. So, back to the topic: Are people leaving? Yeah. But no more than normal. Burnout: folks who have been here since 2019 have likely seen all the sights by now, blueside, redside, goldilocks, and every alignment in-between. Doesn't mean they won't come back and try some new alts, but on their timetable and at their leisure. And they may return proper, or remember the burn and take another break after they reach an idealized build and max out their stats yet again on yet another main or five. Obligations: holidays make things weird. Some folks come back with buckets full of time until January 3rd or so, and some may leave who used to be frequently around to meet family, friends, travel for a bit, then come back after the holiday is through. Attention Span. Like the OP stated... there's newer games dropping all the time. Some may be elbow deep in Baldur's Gate III, Starfield, or something else instead of this. I, for one, have yet to dive into Zelda BOTW and TOTK myself. Trying to finish Oracle of Ages/Seasons on Nintendo Online and Skyward Sword first as I heard those are spiritual 'precursors' to the current Zelda game universe over other titles. (All springtime goals.) So I'll likely fade for a bit after mid-January. And that's fine. Even with all three of the above, Homecoming won't be a graveyard. Looking at Server Status right now, we're close to 2,000 accounts online tonight (even considering multiboxers and AFKs, there's more on now than most weeks). I also don't think it will ever go back to the 2019-2020 peak of 2,800+ people logging in daily ever again, either.
  24. My first question: /graphfps 7, and try to run that where you seem to have problems. Does the repeat, stall or distortion occur when the CPU is redlining? If so, your audio drivers may be fine, Wine is at it's limit because the CPU is at 100%. If that's the case: Close other apps. City of Heroes may be a one-app show for that system. Or run "top" on a Terminal Window (with COH also windowed) and see if another process/app is running the CPU hard that can be shut off. Laptop: ensure you are plugged in. Power management on Laptops and gaming doesn't mix. Keep AC power plugged in (or if the Laptop can use it, plug in a USB-PD Battery pack to keep it at 100% longer.) You may need to turn graphics down, either by FPS or Resolution. 1080/60 is a fair goal post for anything made since 2018, but some laptops do better with 720/60 or 720/30. 4K is going to hurt on any laptop without discrete graphics support (AMD Radeon that isn't Vega or Navi, NVidia, Intel Arc, etc.) If the CPU is normal or yellow (not peaking out), are you able to change from PulseAudio to ALSA (or vice versa) and see if there's a difference? Generalized advice is here: https://devicetests.com/change-wine-audio-alsa-better-sound -- You might not notice a difference, in which case, I'd see if there's a backport of audio driver for your chipset to try. If ALSA works, you can keep it on there, or troubleshoot why PulseAudio is wigging out. (Search Wine forums for PulseAudio troubleshooting in OpenGL games.)
