I really like all 3 costumes.  I like the pose on the golden one the best.  I think I need to steal some costume ideas from her.

Grats on hitting 50!!  It's a whole new world for you and her.

Steal away! I can provide costume files too if you like! Another user already asked me for one, I was super excied to get a private message, this NEVER happens 🤩😂

Sometimes the character does really grab you.  I've told this story before, but I had a great idea for a new toon (Grav/Dark Troller) and had a blast with him from word go.  Except wait second... checked my character list and sure enough, I'd already made one previously, even got him up to like 40-something?  Then just forgot about him, he never clicked right somehow, and I had forgotten he even existed.  The newer toon is of course now past 50.

It's pretty much what happened with Fabel.  I made her, thinking "I need a Rad/Claw tank", played her to level ...8 I think? then shelved her for a few weeks while I played other alts.  Then I went back to "I need a Rad/Claw tank and... wait... who's that?"

And I never stopped playing her since.

Holy craaaaap this gif brings back so much forum souvenirs!! 🧡 Thanks for making me smile this morning, I needed a smile!!

She's already well on her Incarnated way 🙂  50 was just a number, She just keeps getting better!  Actually, 50 meant purple sets.  Being an evil marketer, I had aaaaalll the funds needed to provide. The leap in performance is... well that much power shouldn't even be legal.

  3. Working text editor and extended color palette wins the day for me. This game has lots of colors but when applied to many costume pieces, most look dull or faded.

I would also love to see more items on which you can apply a color pattern.  A LOT of gloves, legs, boots have "No selection available" under their titles.

While we're at it: more items with pieces and parts that really POP when you color them.  I don't remember by heart but for example, there is one costume set that has boots, shoulders and gloves that have an option to display a part that looks made of neon-light when used with bright colors, helps with sci-fi themed characters.  I'll take a screenshot when I get home tonight.

I like the teal costume best. (in case you were wondering, which you probably weren't but I have a word quota to hit (not really))

I like the way you think. And the way you say it.

Especially the way you say it.

When the forum update hit a couple of days ago we had forum badges that were displayed.

Then crybabies cried that it'd create a class system where their precious opinions would be ignored because they weren't part of the Forum Illuminati, and they'd be gulaged, and it wasn't fair, etc, etc, etc.

So the devs canned the whole thing about 15 minutes later.

    .

I liked the badge thingy. It was fun and it created all sorts of fun exchange between members on the forum.

Would have been fun to keep that system around.  On an old forum I visited, devs made badges for forum games.  Imagine that: the week before a major update, the devs would hide 20-ish Easter eggs in the forum and you'd get badges if you find them.  The buzz and activity it created was insane.

  6. I joined Homecoming in August 2020 so, a solid 16 months ago.  I have quite a few characters and I have almost never deleted any of them (though I have permanently shelved a good 10 of them over the months) and time and again, I have come here for build, ideas etc.  People probably know me as a person who loves to try a lot of ideas, and none of these ideas stuck to level 50.

    Until tonight.

My Rad/Claw tank just dinged 50. This character appeared out of nowhere and just became the center of my CoH universe, I can't get enough of her.  She was the character behind this happy topic. She was grouped from just out of DFB to somewhere around 32 where I just soloed her through several arcs which she destroyed, she's just THAT good.

So there you go. I don't know if this topic goes here or if that warrants a topic at all (might be a bit presumptuous or self-centered of me) but hey, I want to share: My first true 50! Honestly leveled, played with heart, built with care and completely enjoyed. (I have a farmer on my wife's account but this was a product of AE and I don't use it at all).

I bring to you: Fabel - Natural Tanker - Radiation Armor / Claws.

Seven feet tall, gorgeous, exceptional athlete. Fabel had been born for the destiny Praetoria had in mind for her: honor guard, escort, personal companion to the emperor himself. Her pride rested in her own accomplishment, her efforts, her dedication to be and remain the best among the best.

Anti-Matter had other plans for her. With his own popularity free-falling, the mad scientist wanted to do more than promote this unique woman to the rank of the elite, he wanted to make her a mortal goddess, fit for his Emperor, a cunning plan to find his favor again.

So Fabel was first summoned, then detained.

    By Anti-Matter's will, inhumanely irradiated.

Her power grew a hundredfold, she became equal to the superpowered beings of the Emperor's entourage. Yet, he rejected her. She was no longer pure, no longer perfect.

Fabel fled to Paragon City. Her future is her own now.

    So will be her revenge.

  7. Thank you. I agree that she is the best looking of the three.  Jem is pretty too but I'm not sure I dig her pale skin color.  Prysma, the more I look at her, the less I like the face I chose.  I will most like pick another one.

  8. Well, there we go, tankers rolled, happiness achieved.

Big BIG THANK YOU to all who helped me create this promising trio!!

I am painfully aware that I suck at costumes, I have little to zero originality but I like what I see so, there.

Also: I can't stand the male 3D model, he looks like he runs with a broom up his pride.

Prysma = Dark Armor/Dark Melee Magic Tanker

Prsxrsk was on the run, his ship badly damaged from its last encounter with a Rikti cruiser. His memory banks carried vital informations to be carried to the Silver Siege of Fomalhaut but with his jump drive so badly damaged, he doubted he would ever get there, if he survived the jump.

One last hit from a Rikti pulse cannon convinced Prsxrsk to tempt faith and so, he jumped.

    ...

Penny was driving home after a really bad day at work, hoping to find some peace and comfort at home. She never saw what hit her car. A burst of light. An explosion.

And then Penny died. So did Prsxrsk.  Except they didn't.

The impact was so brutally violent that, caught in the ship's quantum-jump field, both forms merged and created something new, not quite the sum. Their memory blurred, unable to remember either life clearly.

Now there is only Prysma. Dead, but reborn.

Climaxx = Bio Armor/Psionic Melee Mutation Tanker

Claudia Maxwell was never fond of good advice. As a kid, she got into trouble on most days.

As a teen, she found herself in King's Row at night, caught by a group of marauding Skulls and raped in a park until one of them bumped into a sleeping Clockwork, allowing her to escape.

As an adult, she didn't do much better and let her curiosity lead her into Eden where she was taken by the Devouring Earth and raped once more, this time on a much more existential level.

Claudia is changed. Every sensation she feels is felt increased by a hundredfold, she finds herself in a perpetual state of agony and climax.

Claudia is now clinically insane. Claudia is pissed at the world.

She can take on everything.   And she's ready to give back.

Jem Darkstar = Shield Defense / Stone Melee Science Tanker

Janie Laroche, a brillant young French engineer made a fantastic discovery involving the manipulation of kinetic fields around mineral formations, coming up with ways to increase its density, manipulate it on a telekinetic level.

Her last published paper brought attention to her as she was hired by Paragon Civil Engineering's superpowered department so she could research a direct application that would allow construction workers to operate on a near superpowered level.

Smelling big money, Crey got in the way and stole part of her work, and most of her credibility.

Refusing to admit defeat, Janie decided that her work would be used on a superpowered level after all and became Jem Darkstar.

  10. Mkay. My SD/Stone and my Bio/Psi are rolled, costumed and concepted.

Now i need a concept for my Dark Dark and i will post this here.

How the heck do you take a good screenshot in this game?  The camera moves around the character but never on a vertical axis so the picture angle is always wonky.

  11. I just checked. With the exception of hurl boulder, it's 0.67 KB across the board.

    Nice.

Edit: Wait, @Erratic1 did the checking before I did. I need to lern2read.

It works great. People slept on stone melee in the past thinking it was end heavy, but it's not as bad as people told me before I made mind, and with IO's you can get around almost any end usage issue. I have an Incarnate IO'd one that I themed as a Volcano God named Vulcanus that is erupting upon enemies quite often.

Just one thing: looking at the numbers, all I see is KB, KB, KB.  Isn't that ridiculously counter productive as a tank? Hard to AoE what you keep golf-clubbing away from you.

Yeah, I've used the stars to both remind me of how good a leader they were (or how funny they are, etc.) and to remind me of "oh yeah, better avoid that guy."

Pretty much.  In that case, I didn't see eye to eye with the group leader. I tried to argue my case politely. Not like I didn't have time for that: because he wanted to be first in every map but took some time to try to recruit between missions, we had a solid 12-15 minutes to waste beating grey mobs between maps.

But yeah. Communication might be the key, when opinions can't be moved, well, someone has to leave.

Oh shit buttons should have oh shit consequences. Just my opinion but likely shared by some.

I agree with this, but 99% of the time, to my experience at least, CoH is an extremely streamlined and even experience, I rarely need a "oshit" button.  I either clear content consistently, or I can't.

My uneducated opinion is that T9's such as Elude and such should be turned into interesting, useful tools instead of being a dump-power.

SD/SM. Seriously. great Defense, pretty decent DDR, +HP, AAO. You take both Fault/Tremor/ShieldCharge and proc with KB->KD and FF: recharge and you're constantly knocking things on their ass while saturating your damage with AAO. And you have mallets and seismic smash.

    I... really like that idea.

    I mean REALLY.

I need to do that tonight.

  16. Two days ago i learned that stars can be used/interpretated quite differently.

I joined a hollows group on my Stalker, was something like 12-14. With me along, the group amounted to 4 but the 4th left soon after, this should have raised a flag for me but hey, I'm an optimist.  The group leader insisted we played the missions at  x8+4.  My character is level 12, she doesn't have SOs yet.  This is no longer the live game, low levels go by so fast, I hardly ever slot before level 17.  Sure, the XP was insane, when we managed to defeat a spawn.

The leader also told me he had his own rules, notably that the leader should always be the first in the mission so it doesn't fudge the spawn levels (afaik: It won't) and of course: courtesy. He was very polite, very curteous, but adamantly firm, as in "If you go in before me, I will remove you from the team".

After 1-2 missions of WHIFF WHIFF WHIFF and wipe after wipe, I respectfully gave them my farewell and left.

    To each their own,

IMO it’s another victim of power creep.

once, you used a T9 as an oh shit power or as a power of last resort.  The penalty was thematic, representing the extreme cost of being incredibly overpowered for a short period of time.  Now, you can be incredibly overpowered all the time, so the trade off is no longer worth it in modern game play.

Yes. This.  It's the elephant in the room.

Every other day, I see topics of people saying that support/control types become obsolete because blasters atomize everything in a room every 90 seconds or so.

Personally, I don't mind, I don't care.  Things need to be atomized anyways, might as well be efficient about it.

Dark/Dark is dope, and it does synergize well (also Dark melee is just a pretty solid melee set on it's own).  D/D though doesnt really utilize OG very well, CoF is the CC aura that synergizes best with dark melee (ToF will stack fear on the target to keep bosses shivering plus more -toHit).  CoF is an end hog though in a end heavy armor set.

So, you may want to try out a melee set that compliments Oppressive Gloom's disorient.  I'm thinking Dark Armor/Energy Melee would keep not just all minions punch drunk, but should stack and take LTs out of the fight with power crash and then the ST damage is obviously stellar and every ST attack has disorient so bosses will be staggering around too.

I'm looking into options. I have a level 49 EM/EA Scrapper and while I loved the ride, I'm still hard press to 50 her because I find Energy Melee becomes achore when there's too many targets around, and I even commited the worst sin in the EM book: I took power crash so I could have that one cone (and I never looked back, great power).

I think I could manage an end-hungry character, It's just another kind of challenge.

  19. I rolled a Bio/Psi and did not go for the cheesy name opportunity.

I will also roll a Dark/Dark,  I wanted to combo dark armor with something else to capitalise on the effects but I don't know what,  And Dark/Dark seems to play so well together.

I will roll a Shield/Something for sure, just don't know what yet.

And Titan Weapon wasn't really popular in the choices so I think I might keep it for Scrapper or Brute.

  20. Not gonna lie, I want to try a /Psi tank now.  I wanted to try Bio with TW but I might just reconsider.

I'll also note that even though it's a set filled with cones, TW has really not been popular in the suggestions here.

    Or maybe Shield/Psi...   hmmm...

The disappointment is so intense, you could make a full IO set with it.
