Moon Knight D+
ThaOGDreamWeaver replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
So, our first episode - The Goldfish Problem, which neatly refers to both Steven's memory and an actual fish - has dropped. All in all, a very solid and promising start to the series, and less confusing than you'd think. BTW, while the violence is fairly tame in this first one, it's supposedly rated 16+ for a reason. Or if you want a faster summary: -
Mac Homecoming Launcher stalled
ThaOGDreamWeaver replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Homecoming Launcher
After much swearing, had to ditch the entire COH folder, installer and Wine and reinstall from cold - that got it working again. Other than being forced to install Cisco @£$!%$'ing Webex this afternoon, I've not done anything that would cause that... hopefully resolved. -
Hello - after today's downtime, I'm trying to log back in. - The Launcher's telling me updates are needed... - ...but the Homecoming update is stuck at 0%. - Trying to close the launcher freezes it. - Trying to download either of the other instances (Beta/Prerelease) freezes the launcher. - Asking Wine if it wants an update freezes the launcher. - Disabling auto-update allows the Launcher to run and connect, but obviously with the wrong version I can't access the game. At a guess, it's trying to contact an update server and gettin' nuthin'. I've added Firewall permissions to talk to the outside world, though it's not needed them before, still nuthin'. Activity Monitor shows no Network access or requests from the Windows Server process. Any ideas?

I've been rather enjoying Brutes of late and have two built for concepts: Wizard Of The West - Staff/Fire: pretty much Hell's own lawnmower. Great against groups, lacks a killer single target alpha punch. Generally stick with the Psi bonus from Forms. Wasn't built specifically for farm teams but does well on them. Agent Atwell - Strength/Shield: based on a forum thread arguing about what Cap (and SuperPeggy) would be and was trying to figure out what worked well. She's the opposite of the Wizard - amazing against one target at a time so far at L24. Smash a Boss into the air and pummel their health bar into the ground before they get a shot in. Deeply satisfying, but a distinct lack of AOEs so far - Sands Of Mu are working hard. Foot Stomp and Shield Charge will come as Goddess-sends at 32 and 35, and give me the crowd clearance options. Haven't taken Hand Clap as it's just a stun and KB, when I kinda need everything staying in PEGGY SMASH range. Shield has a nice balance of Def and DamRes to see you through early levels, though wondering what to do about slotting. Still considering a Street Justice build of some kind, as I'm imagining the combos should work well with the Rage bar. Secondary suggestions welcome.

Fun fact: I was today years old when I learned Gotham doesn't have just one Batman. There's a whole team of them, and at least two at any one time.

Noted: Moon Knight helmer Mohamed Diab says there'll be no WandaVision S2... ...which, to be honest, is exactly as it should be and really shouldn't be a surprise. The story ran its course and served its purpose (establish Wanda as Scarlet Witch). I don't see how you could extend the TV / parallel universe gag any further unless you started spoofing specific shows, which... don't think so. I'm also pretty sure Wanda and Vision Mk II's story ain't over, but again, how you take it forward in the DS:MoM context is tricky. As much as people might want another helping of the good stuff, it's better to try a new flavour. Some things are best left as they are.

I'm from the UK and playing Excelsior. It's a little quiet in the mornings but plenty of folk around from about 2.15pm onwards. Which I guess is 9am Eastern when various East Coast companies' IT support have got through morning standup.

Kiske/Somerville - City Of Heroes Apparently @Impulse posted this before, but what the hell. It's good.

Rezzing this thread a little: anyone tried any test builds for these concepts? I'm quietly building out Agent Atwell as a SS/Shield Brute and having a lot of fun as far as L14. (Though I was tempted by SJ on Brute, because combos.)

I believe there are indeed pictures on Google. I'd prefer not to verify that as I have to work today. However, I believe the phrase the kids use these days is glow-up. Because holy freaking shirtlessballs... ...ahem. I'm aware Matt Damon pulls off the boy-next-door/ultrabadass turn in Bourne and Keanu managed it in Speed and The Matrix, but Matt pulling Bond off seems a stretch. That said, Captain Britain?

Are we forgetting Samuel L Jackson his very badass self for a great, small moment? To haul this mildly back on topic, it's odd that AOS isn't considered "official" MCU since they reflected and interacted in small ways with the main MCU continuity. The biggest of which was... If you're getting technical, AOS identified themselves as Earth-616 - the main Marvel comics continuity - whereas MCU is Earth-199999. I think it's not so much to do with preserving canon as a straight fight for control of Marvel IPs within Disney - of which ABC is a part, but one was publically relegated to "legacy media" (ouch). That fight's been sorted out. Brutally. All Marvel IPs are now back under control of a central content management team, and the MCU is beginning to sneak in good bits and key actors from the other films and shows: Cox, D'Onofrio, and Hardy so far. So there's hope that the AOS crew could show up in new IPs or movies. Quake already has in multiple cartoons and games. Speaking of which... since Sinister Strange from What If? seems to be making a guest appearance in DS:MoM, I would love to see Super-Peggy and maybe Hydra Stomper skinny-Cap on screen (Atwell was extremely up for it, but was also filming a Mission:Impossible at the time.)

DAMN YOU SEXY EVIL FITZ! ...and yes, the Darkhold was introduced to the MCU proper in Wandavision (though the Thing Of Evil shown attached to the Doc, pixellated as it is, looks like the AOS prop rather than the one seen in the Wandavision tailgag). As per AOS, anyone reading it will go insane with lust for power (or anything - as per clip above, androids too.) Per the official lore, it's generally Bad Juju and Contains Knowledge What Man Should Not Wot Of And Attracts Nameless Wossnames With Tentacles. Always with the tentacles. I would love to see AOS get more love and more crossovers: the idea of the Multiverse makes alternate realities not only canon but encouraged. Quake has made several appearances in Marvel cartoons and games, as has Phil. I'd particularly love to see Fitzsimmons back running SHIELD tech ops, or an academy of some sort (under May?) as they rebuild. Tiny side note: Patrick Stewart's Chuck X guest shot is logged by IMDB as official now, so I guess the poor old guy doesn't have to lie any more.
