  1. WELL!   First time I've used the in-forum Support feature.  So!  That's a new experience too, heh.  Learning so much today!

Would it be possible to warn users when they are about to make a Club, so that this situation doesn't arise too often in the future?

I would recommend a simple dialogue box of:  "You are about to create the Club named "[NAME]."  This can not be undone without Administrative intervention.  Are you sure you want to create this Club?"  [YES] [CANCEL]

  2. @Xanatos hammers the head of the nail quite squarely there.

Not to diminish the sense of enjoyment that anyone else gets from this game . . . but . . . yeah.  "Accomplishment" is a pretty bold word to throw around.   It's a game, and a (thankfully) very accessible one at that.  Nothing we do in this game is really more meaningful than the meaning we assign it.  There's nothing sacrosanct to protect in the core gameplay loop itself.  What makes City of Heroes so much more, and so worthwhile is that it -can- and -does- offer rewards in more meaningful ways; deeply personal ways and mutually-beneficial social ways.

  3. WELP!   That's embarrassing.

I was exploring the new Clubs feature, and I wanted to see how it worked exactly, so I made a couple test Clubs ("Roleplay" and "Roleplaying").   However, for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how to -leave- them now!

I joined the Wiki Club, and managed to leave it no problem.  But where the Leave Club button was got that Club, these Clubs which I am hosting appear to have a Manage Club button in that place.  There doesn't appear to be a Leave or Delete Club option present.

Could anyone give me a hand with this, please?

  4. Or new a P2W Vendor Temp Power:  Dislodge

    1 Hour Recharge

PBAoE, 10m (~30 feet) range, ignores terrain/barriers, Autohit

Resets all enemies and hostage/ally NPCs in range back to their original spawn location (or teleport all mobile enemies and ally/hostage NPCs to your position)

Potentially a cylindrical metal container of annelids which could lead to exploitation in the hands of players, but . . . eh.   Something to consider to help alleviate GM duties.

  5. Bearing in mind, sometimes when players use the term "lag," they're referring to slow downs unrelated to network latency or packet loss.  This is why the net graph is so important during troubleshooting.  If the graph shows no spikes, then whatever is causing the slow down is very likely a hardware issue of some sort.

  6. As others have said:  Welcome Home!

Something important to consider are the various Shards!

Reunion ( https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/42-reunion-eu/ ) is the European Shard, based out of Germany.  All other Shards are located on servers in Montréal, Québec, Canada (last I checked, any way).

Everlasting ( https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/40-everlasting/ ) is the officially-declared unofficial Roleplaying Shard.

Indomitable ( https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/41-indomitable/ ) is the officially-declared unofficial PvP Shard.

Excelsior ( https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/39-excelsior/ ) is the most populous Shard.

Torchbearer ( https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/38-torchbearer/ ) was the original Homecoming Shard when the servers first came online.

  7. The most of a timeline we received, up to this point, is:  https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/19869-sooo-whats-coming-up-on-hc/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-225560

Granted, taking a look at Homecoming Team and Dev activity on the boards suggest they've been brushing off the cobwebs over the past two weeks.  They're not at their old capacity yet, but things -do- seem to be picking up again.  I'd guess . . . anticipate an announcement by week three of August if present trends continue.  If my estimate ends up being -WAY- wrong, please feel free to point an accusatory finger at me.

  8. I like to set my difficulty as low as possible and soak in the lore, roleplay, and focus on the other things that matter.  The mechanics of this game just don't cut it for me on their own, and at a certain point I just got "done" with worrying about it.  Smooth, calm, and relaxing from this point out; thanks!

  9. My personal read on that is some of them have largely succeeded.  There are probably whole countries out there which are functionally Council-run despot nations, like the Etoiles are for Arachnos.

We know that Nemesis is an emotional old windbag, so he takes personal pride in anything related to Paragon City, probably blinding him to much wiser courses of action in other nations . . . yet he also makes a point of invading alternate realities?  He's just an indecisive mollusc.

Malta doesn't need a whole country; they just need a few key figures in the governments of those countries to be plants or otherwise in Malta's pocket.

And the Circle of Thorns laid claim to the area which we now call Paragon City thousands of years prior to colonization.  They're pretty irked about all these people moving in to their land.  But not as irked as they are over their own past deals brokered with demonic forces.  They're prioritizing accordingly.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HfLSvH5L78

  10. Prior to launch day, I was in the CoV Beta's first wave of invites.  I waited until the end of the day, and then installed it on every computer in the Q/A lab at my studio of the time.  Got some eye-rolls from my peers, but I don't know if any of the managers even noticed.

I had the Login screen up on every computer as people were leaving for the day, with the Fort Blood theme blasting from all of them!

Ah . . . to be young, dumb, and that hyped.  Now I'm just dumb.

  11. I feel that Electric Blast is fine.

It's the Endurance Drain and Endurance Recovery Debuff mechanics that could use some serious work.  They're great in theory, but in practice they ultimately do little in that they operate on an All-or-Nothing dichotomy.

There have been a lot of discussions on the subject, and a lot of ideas for how to resolve these limitations.

I personally like the idea of giving enemies high-Endurance Cost Powers which effectively buff them to roughly their current stat line, but if one could drain off that Endurance, the enemies would no longer be able to self-buff, and effectively become weaker.  Perhaps if their Control/Debuff Resistances were lowered with diminished Endurance?  That could make Controls more effective in late-game against hardened targets too!

  12. And I'm honestly deeply appreciative of non-superhero characters receiving attention and accolade for their creativity and expression.  While I'm more ambivalent on joke characters, I find the doubling-down on superheroes in spandex to be old hat.  This game is better than that because it offers players the opportunities to create personal extensions of their desires and ideals.  If that takes the form of a superhero, so be it.  But the game offers so much more, and I frankly feel those that are willing to test and push the boundaries of that deserve the most recognition for their craft.

Difference of opinion, clearly, but I say:  Keep the themes for the official contests varied!  Lean in to them harder, in fact.  When a theme is "Science," don't just consider "Science superheroes."  Consider -everything- that "Science" could mean as a theme!  Let the players' creativity soar, and then reward them for being able to think outside the box!
