Now I have not been on to try this yet but I may be soon, and I applaud the HC devs for finally trying to mitigate one of the negative aspects of COH, one of the scars on the overall great unique game it's always been. look forward to testing it out.

Whether COH combat has "oomph" is up for serious debate. it's literally the games weakest point. COH is strong in its freedom to make what you want. Combat fails utterly, not that its entirely the fault of the devs who made it, it was pre WoW stone age.

Theres not a lot of knocking around, no. but animations look and sound amazing. to be fair theres nearly no decent game where stuff "reacts" like you say, except maybe Pso2.

Glad to see I was 100% correct in my assessment of the community on everlasting, that the thread trying to discuss toxicity got shut down from the trolls who want to point at the victim and pretend they are the ones at fault. Nobody is perfect, including said victim, but it's obvious to anyone without an axe to grind against said victim that they are the victim here. If people had cared about getting along, we would have. troll all you want, and you know who you are. you don't make your case look any better. the fact is a decent player who only wanted to be friends was outright run out of the game and hard quit becuase of abuse from certain individuals in positions of influence within the community that they should never have in any.

Yeah well sadly 90% of us dont actually have 7 friends who play on the same data center and can be convinced to raid. 8 out of 10 people who were ever decent enough and knew me long enough to become real friends are terrified of anything tougher than an early game monster hunter boss.

It's not party finder. PF on Crystal is 10x a better bet than looking for a regular static. The issue is only 3 kinds of statics exist on Crystal. Tight knit friends only clubs which new people never get into, Childish, mentally 8 year old elitist scum who pretend to be causals but kick you from the static becuase you only did a little above the bare minimum for a clear, or didnt learn all the mechanics in the first few tries, or people SO casual they dont actually raid since half the group never shows.

Yeah well, Crystal has a severe shortage of decent people to raid with, the raid communities on Aether and Primal are many, many, many times larger, which means better chances.

And I had a medium worth well over 17 million gil, I left it all behind to quit crystal for Aether. not going back. Raiding with a static group of mature, non toxic players is important to me, and that was impossible on crystal. I tried for a long long time.

My issue is not -just- with Everlasting TFs. my issue is with a significant portion of the community who do not know when to stop harrassing becuase they find someone different from them. There are a lot of good people on Everlasting, and on COH Homecoming I wont deny. the problem is there are also a lot of bad, and a community too small for me to truly escape them.

The update did help but it didn't change the fact that classes play pretty slow early on, or that the writing before 1st expansion just isn't as good. it did make it about 30% less quests until that point, got rid of a bunch of grindy stuff story didnt need. It helps if you find a server where you have friends who play. The real hard part of TEA is finding 7 other people who are patient and dedicated like you, sure its incredibly hard and requires player skill, but thats a level of player skill anyone who cares will reach with practice. it's why I didn't manage to clear it, was on crystal so you can figure how that went.. my raid leader thought disbanding was a better idea than replacing 2 people who would never show.

Wait until you do the final battle against SPOILERS on top of SPOILERS, the SPOILERS SPOILERS had people literally CHEERING at their computers on patch day when it came out.

I'm sorry but it's not actually that easy to find people for Itrials and such without using Everlasting TFs and other channels which are all run by people who were looking for "reasons" to treat me as some kind of troll or bad apple from day 1. I haven't logged on COH in months, and never will again unless I find evidence of good RP groups on a non Everlasting server, since going back to Everlasting where all the bad apples I've met are, is an absolute never. I see a lot of people discussing stuff like people who hate on specific aspects of the game. I too have aspects of the game I hate, but those things do not ruin it for me, COH is a good game despite all its flaws, and to be fair most of those flaws are due to it being a stone age game in every way aside from character customization and role structure mechanics and buffs/CC/debuffs stuff. I don't blame anyone who had a hand in making COH for that. and it's a fun game PROVIDED you have good people to play and RP with, which I found severely lacking on Everlasting. Only one thing can really always make or break a game in all situations for MMOs. and that is Community. Everlasting's community is an absolute deal breaker.

We all have those moments when we say or act in a way that is NOT us. sadly, all people want to see is the bad. one slip up is all it takes to forever be seen as the opposite of what you really are, or would be if people weren't so very attatched to the idea that you are someone to be attacked and abused whenever possible (verbally in chats)

I didn't mean it as offensive. It's honestly kind of hard not to be on a short trigger with people here after what I've been through though. I'm sorry I used those particular words.

It's not an official channel or the LFG channel, people dont form itrials there often. doesn't take a genius to realize I'm talking about Everlasting TFs. One thing that's fun to note is I, as opposed to the guy referred to by Solarverse, have never claimed COH to suck, despite having firsthand experience with very prominent portions of the Everlasting community sucking. COH is overall a great game unrivaled in character freedom to THIS DAY. I have sometimes pointed out how poor the combat system is, or how it's the last game to try and make challenging content in or to look for a challenge but cmon, if someone wanted challenging content they have WAY better places to go, COH is about the freedom, the create the characters you imagine, however you want, the RP potential, the superheroes with wacky powers origins and stories! COH was never about challenge or amazing gameplay never could be and never will be, COH is an entirely different kind of fun and that is OK. Sadly most people reviled me for daring point out where COH fails even though I also point out why it's amazing in the same discussion.

You don't consider being in charge of the biggest channels for forming TFs and itrials a sort of "power" ?

Despite the perpetrators tendency to claim "it's all my fault" I have been the victim of quite a lot of harrassment, bullying, and outright lies and rumor spreading on Everlasting on Homecoming. As a result i outright quit playing. The first few months on HC were great and the only time I can say the community was actually above average for online games in general. Unfortunately all the wrong people ended up in positions of power, running the TF channels and so forth, and it's now impossible for me to enjoy the game as I am the one they decided to focus their perverse attacks and rumor manufacturing capacity on. I've only wanted to get along and be friends, but what I encountered was that people would simply provoke me until I snapped, then turn around and blame it all on me, completely and conviniently ignoring everything surrounding my having any kind of outburst. If I had been treated as I tried my best to treat others from the start, I would still be happily playing still singing the praises of COH homecoming. Now? I advise people to STAY AWAY becuase it is not a place for mature, free thinking adult human beings. At least not on Everlasting, which unfortunately seems to be the only place people try and RP. I wish so dearly I could give the game another chance becuase hope springs eternal and I wanted to like it so much. But community is everything and this one has -NOT- been kind to me. What other people say is irrelevant for my case. I have been treated poorly and that does not require others to agree with me to be true. I have been abused by many on my server, and they show no signs of any willingness to change, in fact most of them block me after their abuses so I can't even point out how poorly they've behaved. I tried to offer the olive branch, it was burned in front of me. I would still offer it, but no one wants it.

It wont be a lot of use until you reach closer to level cap, black mage playstyle is nothing near the same until level 60, at which point everything revolves mostly around "How can I maximize how often I use fire 4" for single target. a lot harder than it sounds.

you're gonna be real happy when you get to the high levels then the game is like 20 times better at that point.
