  1. For gameplay and story I have Final Fantasy 14, excellent for those things. for character building and fooling with real builds and power choices COH is a clear winner.
  2. No I Mean the texture resolution isnt always improved by running the GAME on a higher resolution becuase it was made for a time when max rez was way lower than it is now.... lol.
  3. I like when people dont move out of the arrows in Admiral sutter and get exploded 😁
  4. People should always be able to play in a way they have fun. good game designers know this and design the game to facilitate it as much as possible. Bad ones try and force the players to play how they think the game should be played- as we see in a certain other super hero game today. That said if you need help making influence I can tell you how I've made a few hundred million at least. buy enhancement boosters with merits they sell for over a million each. with 100 merits you can make 20M or more, 300 merits can make you 60-70M (I'm bad at math ok but its an estimate) Merits are made by running TFs, Doing Hamidon raids, getting certain badges, you can even convert empyrian merits into reward merits too.
  5. I think the comic style of COH graphics are fine, but the resolution really needs an update.
  6. oops I realize I forgot a word in the topic... dont know if I can edit it now.
  7. For instance if someone is super strong or can control earth, say theyre just as squishy as a normal person and are afraid to become a hero but want to help people or make a living with their powers, they really could be useful to a construction company...
  8. Sub fees were abandoned in favor of shitty microtransactions becuase in most cases it makes more money to prey on the customer with microtransactions than to charge a monthly sub. it has nothing to do with quality. F2P games are decidedly of lesser quality.
  9. It's a better way to do MMOs and results in a higher quality of service 90% of the time though. 15 a month might be a bit steep for a game which is 15 years old. No MMO I know of charges more than 15 a month
  10. This is why a system which allows a Primary and Secondary origin woulda been nicer.
  11. Not neccesarily. You could easily be a mutant who is super fast and strong but lacks enough destructive power to take on higher level villains- and hence has taken up a giant heavy weapon.
  12. Origins are super fuzzy. if I had designed the origin system I'd allow people to pick a "Primary" and "Secondary" origin. Picking the same for both would simply mean the character just has simply one origin.
  13. I just remade old characters from CO and new ones adapted to this universe. didnt play for long enough pre shut down. even if I did I think I'd just reboot my old toons.
  14. Yeah I don't get it either. Sure as a tank survival is the first priority.. but that does not stop you from punching things good!
  15. I have run into people in my time playing CO and COH who build tanks intentionally to do as little damage as possible- and do this every time they build a tank. I cannot understand this at all since it basically destroys the fun. What's wrong with a little damage? it will only make your character better. you wont have to sacrifice noticeable survivability either.
  16. This is absolutely true however damage is still a fairly important part of the equation. roles arent as simple as "Do one narrowly defined thing only"
  17. These changes make you better as a tank becuase you do damage. a good tank does damage. you wont do nearly as much as a brute still (brutes can be tanks as well though) so why worry?
  18. Well I did quit WoW. I much more enjoy games where people can actually defeat enemies regardless of class choice. and in a super hero game its even more important becuase in super hero media the tanker types are also punching people into orbit. not JUST distracting enemies.
  19. Well in the most well designed one I played all endgame raid encounters were designed with tank and healer dps in mind. and guess what? most people didnt let it make them toxic. the amount of toxic raiders was minimal if a loud minority.
  20. Its not extreme to want to improve oneself and maximize how well you do, its human nature. SOMEONE Has to be carrying the group if its mostly people who dont care if they perform well, and as long as the group is being well carried it wont make a difference to me. but if nobody steps up then the group fails. No one wants to point fingers and say "you're holding us back" but its common knowledge that someone has to step up and perform at the very least. and I am aware controllers are usually capable of sufficient damage. I'm not asking for everyone to be dps I am pointing out dps is a part of every role to some degree.
  21. I've played some of these "traditional" mmos and my main role was tank. I was expected to try and maximize my dps in content. COH and CO are honestly the only games I've played in which I encountered people who think they shouldn't be doing damage as non "dps" roles. Also I dunno about WOW I know the WoW community sucks, but in Final Fantasy 14 were really chill and IMO is a better community than what HC has now.
  22. I'm not asking for anyone to be required to do damage. I'm asking why wouldn't someone want to contribute as much as possible? I don't care if a particular team member is doing damage as long as were doing well as a team since why care? but on a personal level why not want to operate at max efficiency? who wouldn't want to? furthermore what kind of super hero is unable to defeat villains? aka do damage.
  23. Any well IOed tanker is a god. I'm especially a fan of invulnerability though.
  24. I've never played a decent mmo where tanks arent expected to do their part in damage. don't think I ever will since tanking is all about holding threat and yes, DOING DAMAGE while not dying! Damage is THE MOST BASIC part of gameplay no enemies will ever be defeated without it. this by logical extension means its the job of every role to an extent, yes even the support. if you're not doing as much damage as you can, you're performing at less than maximum. Why do people think tanks should not damage? this goes against the idea of good performance on any role.
  25. A tanker who doesn't damage "As a rule" has the role wrong.... a tanks job is 3 fold, 1, dont die, 2 hold aggro, 3 inflict as much damage as they can. That said this is a controller thread and I agree that NO one role is NEEDED on a team.
