PARAGON RADIO! SPECIAL NIGHT THIS WEEK! THURSDAY 6/6!
NekoAli replied to Pogoman's topic in Everlasting
I wish I could listen in but I play table top Thursday nights. By chance are the broadcasts going to be available to listen on demand anywhere? Also out of curiosity... I know in your little tester broadcast you and Mad Viking didn't seem to do a lot in game while broadcasting At least while I was hanging on the steps with you. But why host from there and not a neutral area like Pocket D, where people could bring their characters from both sides to... stand in one place with you all. :) -

Boy that Rooky sure is a fly-by-night kinda bird. -
Suggestion for fellow players: More SG bases as public hangouts!
NekoAli replied to OmegaX123's topic in Everlasting
Is it available for visiting now, Coyote? I've just started to begin work on Wonderland Manor which is the same concept... A private retreat for a magical family in a pocket dimension. And when I say 'started to begin' I mean 'throw some things down and try to understand how this 'build outside the base boundaries' works. Being able to pop in and look around what others have done would probably help eventually. Wonderland Manor won't be an open place for people to pop in and out, due to it's nature. But given Alison Wonderland seems to have become my main I expect there will be some visitors outside the SG family. -
issue 26 Patch Notes for June 5th, 2019

I guess that explains it. I know they nerfed the XP gains on upper levels of DFB, but I'd notice even a new character was getting less than I expected with the double XP boost. -

With several people deciding they want to make family members of my character Alison Wonderland I've sat down and written up part of the family history, who they are, why they have such a famous name and why they tend to dress and act kind of odd. For anyone else who wanted to make a Wonderland sibling or other family member they have some basis to work from. This doesn't have to be set in stone if anyone has some ideas they want to add or change.. A Wonderland of the current generation should be of Magic origin, have at least one of their powersets be Dark to represent the family magic and they tend to have alliterative names. All of Alison's sisters and brothers have names starting with A. For your perusal, the curious tale of the Wonderland Family; The people known as the Wonderland family are a peculiar bunch of magic users that have been around for many generations, working to preserve order in the Prime world from encroaching chaos. They make their home, Wonderland Manor in a pocket dimension, a bridge between the Prime plane and a plan of pure Chaos. They usually prefer to work in secrecy, even from other magical societies like Oranbega or the Midnight Squad. One side effect of living so close to chaos is that the Wonderlands have an extended lifetime. They can live 2-3 times as long as an average human. Between that and their reclusive nature many of them dress and act in manners that seem old fashioned to modern people. There also tends to be several adult children of various ages as well as extensive networks of cousins. On rare occasions someone is adopted into the family. Usually due to a member of the family falling in love and marrying them. Sometimes unwanted guests stop in. More often it’s chaos demons but there are rare cases where someone from the prime dimension slips through. Such was the case of young Alice Lidell who stumbled into Wonderland Manor in the fall of 1864. She was lost for several days in the chaos realm before one of the Wonderlands found her and sent her back to the Prime dimensions minutes after she fell through a portal. To try and preserve her sanity William Wonderland erased the memory her harrowing experience and replaced it with dream images that Alice’s uncle, Lewis Carroll published over the next several years as fanciful stories. Amused by these tales and impressed that an untrained young girl manages to survive several days alone in the chaos realm, he named his next daughter Alison in honor of her. Current events being the way they are, with magical and alien threats on the rise several of the Wonderland children has started to take a more active role the Prime world, hiding their origin among the many heroes of Paragon City. Using their dark magics they fight against the rising Chaos and groups that would damage the world. -
Those are some really awesome costumes. Big praise to all of the creators.

A new character I've been playing around with is Mother of Monsters. Mom for short. She's just an ordinary older woman who's looking out for her precious children. She tends to be a bit doting on them, and is especially fond of trying to find a partner for her son Timmy since he's a little shy and doesn't talk much. Of course it doesn't bother her that she's a zombie, and her 'children' are just other corpses she's animated. A little run in with Dr Vahzilok and an implanted necromantech controller that was one of her experiments has left her a little... off. But really, she's a nice, kindly lady who just wants to take care of her children and help people out. She enjoys reading them stories in the park too. Really, why do people keep yelling at her the way they do?
-
I can definitely see this working. I have a handful of characters that are not really 'people persons' and I couldn't see them willingly joining a SG. But they would network and do occasional team ups with other heroes/vigilantes/rogues/villains.

Pretty good so far. I'm in the high teens.. 19 I think. Ran a bunch of DFB and DiB with it where I was just acting as insane as my character, considering I'm a scrapper and not brute. I'd run into the middle of a pack of enemies, fire off my AOE and just start going to town. The only thing that really caused me trouble was the giant shivans at the end of DiB. Once you get to the point where you unlock your stances (offence, defense, efficient) you've got a couple of 'oh shit' buttons when you draw too much aggro being a fool like me. And the 'you get gradually armored up as you activate powers' visual aspect really fits the characters aesthetic. Or you can choose to shut off the lumpy armor with minimal FX is you want. Spines/Bio-armor just really works well together so far, both as a combination as visually. -
Cheesy Grits was a Waffle House waitress from Georgia when she was doused with radioactive grits during a truck accident at work. She gained the ability to summon an infinite amount of grits from thin air and shoot beams of radiation because of course that's how it works.

Well right now I'm jonesing because I want to play some City before work but apparently the servers are down for updates. So... mixed feelings there? I got to talk to Detra last night too, though it was during a trial, so I was kinda pre-occupied. I also finally convinced my room mate to try the game. Sadly I fell asleep before she finished character creation, so I think she'll do well. :) Nutty characters can be fun to play. I was having a lot of fun playing Alison Chain (chains was already taken, sadface) and chatting in the RP channel. She's a very happy and cheerful pyschopath who once touched an alien artifact and gained a symbiote... You know, kind of Witchblade, Guyver, Venom kind of deal except it's not intelligent or anything. She's spines/bio armor, so the symbiote manifests by growing out of her skin, all the time. So her clothes are always shredded, it's difficult to touch anything because as she puts it, she has 'razorblades for skin'. But still, she's very happy... slicing things to bit. Also she's more than a little of a masochist since there's no pain-deadening aspect to her symbiote... Instead it feels good for her. And she can't die. So.... yeah. She's crazy, but happy about it. I just love the roleplay opportunities this game give. :D -
I would absolutely join the Zombie Apocalypse with a zombie mastermind who is also a zombie.... I feel the need to make this now. :) edit: And so I did. Blue side there's a nice kindly lady and her children who want to help people out and just so happens to be a zombie thanks to Dr Vahzilok. Still she loves all of her stinky children. She's called Mother of Monsters, or Mom for short.

The most fundamentally flawed thing about this requests is that people who want to manipulate the market to make huge profits not only won't care, they will use it to their own ends. When you have 95% of the population playing nice, it's easier in some ways for the 5% to find ways to manipulate the system. When most everyone is playing by arbitrary rules, those who don't care about rules or fairness have the advantage. Short of someone on the dev team making it their job to oversee the auction system and shutting down any attempts to manipulate it, there is only so much we as players can do. Unfortunately the way the auction house is set up it can be difficult to tell what is an ordinary fair price and what is someone trying to spike the market. Without seeing who did the postings and with only being able to see the last five transactions it can be hard to tell if that popular and useful purple salvage is actually worth the 100,000 it's sold for the last five times, or it's actually a 10,000 inf item someone recently bought out and jacked up the price on. The best that people can do is not buy on impulse. If you know you need an item watch it for a few days and make note what it sells for on average. That's about the only way I know to see if there's a sudden spike and if buying now would be a rip off and you should wait another day or two. The market will always tend to self correct to some degree. With so many people able to use it freely, it's difficult for anyone to manipulate the auctions long term.

Bless you for keeping the legend alive.

Hi Rook. By Rook. I swear that bird has too much going on. *kicks back for a day of work* The long weekend was nice.. Got to play quite a bit. Saw so many awesome character concepts and costumes out there. I love the creativity this game inspires. -
Unfortunately there are only a few embroidered options for jeans. They do not accept the wide range of designs you find on most pants. But that's okay, you can always use one of those other kinds of pants if you want designs.

Keep in mind that once you have access to radio/paper missions you can get a free jetpack by doing three of those missions then a safeguard/mayhem mission. This gives you two hours of flight time, which if you only use travelling from mission to mission will last a very long time. There are a number of other missions that give you similar temporary travel powers. And with i25 you can go to one of the P2W vendors and buy temporary powers for influence. The various jet packs cost either 5000 or 50000 for 30 minutes of flight. If you do the paper mission route, by the time your 2 hours of flight runs out you should be at a level where earning 5000 inf is nothing. For my 'non powered' natural types this is how I go, and it saves on taking a travel power. Especially useful on Masterminds since they always seem short on power slots early. If you didn't want to juggle temporary powers though, you can always take flight and add one of the jet packs or rocket boots to your character by way of explanation. There are any number of entirely human groups out there that make use of jet packs to get around, so you don't even need to stretch for it. You just hit up/beat up Longbow, Vanguard, Goldbrickers or whoever and got yourself a flight pack.

Detraaaaaa! *flying pounce hug* I wondered when you would return. -
I ran through a DFB tonight with a Trooper Neptune and Trooper Uranus. They were pretty cool. Simple distinctive costumes. I don't know if that was you or someone else. I would be interested in a SG like this. My only issue is really time. Work and other needs keep me from playing as much as I would like. But then again, 24/7 really isn't a realistic goal anyway....

One of the first characters I had to remake from the old days was Cheesy Grits. She was just an ordinary Waffle House waitress from Georgia working the night shift when a truck carrying radioactive waste crashed through her restaurant. Some of the waste spilled into the big pot of grits on the stove, which in turn spilled onto her, dousing her in radioactive grits. Afterwards she discovered she had the ability to summon huge amounts of rapidly cooling grits from thin air and throw beams of radiation. Deciding that rural Georgia was no place for a super hero she headed to Paragon City. It's where all the super freaks gather anyway. When she applied for her hero ID they gave her a skimpy spandex costume, but she's too embarrassed to be seen in it, so she wears her leather jacket and blue jeans over top of it. One part Southern sass, one part weaponized breakfast food, she's Cheesy Grits, here to serve a side of Justice to evil doers with her catch phrase "Kiss my grits!"

Aces. I'll try to catch you on then. *hops on her FBBC with a pot of coffee and three laptops* Okay... time to research keybinds, mastermind controls, enhancement strategies and chart out which characters will live on which servers... Moving past the 'make tons of characters by whim' phase and into the 'plan the shit out of this' phase.... -

I wanna do some Hollows again. I've done all the starting missions through Atlas and a bunch of Kings Row again. Dammit Azuria, stop losing stuff. Death from Below is great if you want to power through your first 10-15 levels really quick. But there's just soooo much content. *gets a cup of coffee and some fresh cold pizza and hops on a fbbc* What kind of reward merits should we be getting? I swear I should have more on Alison Wonderland, but I've only got 90 after doing a bunch of task forces... Trying to decide if it's worth it to get the archtype enhancements that level with you, or save up for invention set enhancement recipes for later.... -
There was the Sailor Sushi Squad, back on virtue. We got pretty big for a while, including a coalition group for the guys in sentai uniforms. That was pretty easy... We all had the school girl outfit with minor changes and color coded by what our elemental/power effects were. I played a fire/trick arrow blaster if I remember.

I dunno. It might have been. I've seen her riding stranger mounts. *pours a little cough syrup in Rook's diet Dr Pepper* it can't make it taste any worse. I'm telling you, this game returning has made my altitis flare up worse than ever. And they give us 1000 character slots to work with. Challenge Accepted. -
I really enjoy RPing during a run. It's a balancing act between keeping it interesting without being overbearing and remaining effective while doing a mission. So mostly it's during slow points like between pulls or missions. When people would naturally talk anyway. Even when I'm running solo I'm usually participating in the RP channel. Being able to juggle multiple things and different characters I guess is just something I've gotten good at over the years. Being the game master in all those table top games had to be good for something. One thing I can't do though is make a character 'just because'. I just naturally start to make up backgrounds and stories about them. Even if started off as just a 'I wonder how these power sets work together.' Of course, most characters don't start off as more than a simple concept like 'bitter ex merc turned into a cyborg slave by Arachnos and is salty about the situation' or 'truck stop waitress got doused by a pot of radioactive grits and can now summon grits from thin air'. But as it goes on more gets added to the story, often times mid scene... Like it making sense that Cheesy Grits comes from an Army family, or Widowbyte being upset that she can't really eat anymore because she's like Robocop. For me, the Roleplaying part of an MMORPG is a huge thing, and City is home to so many great and fun stories. How could I help but to love it?
