It's ironic that the NCSoft thing happened when it did, since my involvement in this game is almost over.

Aw, that's too bad, but understandable; in a lot of ways I feel I've done just about everything too by this point.

  2. I love that people will do this for newbies, but I fear they take the wrong idea from such, "I need money to play the game!"

But a wise player would infer that "money is so easy to come by in this game that some people burn it for fun, so it can't be all that important to play."

  3. "Redside... Best side? Right??"   Yes.  End of thread.

Seriously though, it always was for me.  I could list why, but that's neither here nor there for this discussion.  I can understand that some just feel some reversion to playing bad guys (funny, in an age when Grand Theft Auto can make billions, but of course that group of players doesn't necessarily overlap with ours), but I think ultimately that population is king.  That's why even I'm mostly blueside today, and have been since the Live pop drop and Incarnate grinding leeched most people away from anything lower level.  I like PUGing and find it especially needed as a low level toon.

What to do?  I don't want to make red side Farmville, so I don't know if "bribe the players with more XP" or something would help.  The Aeon task force is popular as all get out, but with people from blue side who switch to play then switch right back I'm sure; maybe gate that so you can't do it until after you've been red side for like 48 hours?  Maybe gate Null him or herself?  Aeon's still just farming anyway, essentially (thanks to speed runs etc.).  I doubt that would really work...  I guess don't have any really good ideas.

  4. Trying to live by my credo of no farming these days and really meaning it, so the last few new toons have just gone around doing an occasional low level arc, a DFB or three (tops), while trying to avoid Council farming on PI "any level accepted" because that did feel too lazy.  Not that I haven't done them once or twice, but definitely less.  Now that the population is up, it's common enough to see someone advertise for a team that's at least nearish my level (I'll go below too), so I do those.

  5. Take any toon to 50, then play the game, any part of it -- Inf will roll in.  You don't need any real schemes or plans (unless you're redside ha ha) to make enough to get by on.  I am the laziest person in this game when it comes to money and I still do fine.

  6. If you don't like binds (I don't), I macro this on every new toon soon as they step into the tutorial:  /macro TN "target_enemy_near"

Somewhere I picked up a macro that also puts me on "follow" to that target, but I don't recall the wording off the top of my head (and I haven't used it too often).  But I do use Ctrl+F fairly often, once I've picked a target, just in case they get knockbacked or start to run or something.

you missed the point of my posting.  [snip]

Whoa whoa, I wasn't finger pointing at you, I was bouncing off what you said more towards speaking to the OP instead.  Apologies for that coming across differently.  No need for the chapter and verse, I'm on your side here!

I played on Issue 2 til sunset.

My first, and main, was an Emp/Elec

Healing is not the priority it used to be.

They still have their place, but think more of characters that Debuff/Buff.

I've heard stuff like this from a number of the "git gud" community who work to min/max everything within an inch of their lives, yet still find myself on teams not even starred hard content team, still using a heal (or even less min/maxy, a Res power) more often than you'd think.

Players have found ways to really OP characters, bu that's not all players, nor even I think a majority of them.  Play what you want, no cookie-cutter builds needed here.

The critics are raving: "Tacky Xmas exploits...sign me up!" ... "Send a comment to the author (optional)q"

The Devs Must Be Mad to have given this a Devs Choice!

You ever have one of those sandwiches that's like five pounds of fixins slopped into a big ol' hoagie loaf that leaves your hands wet and splatters on your shirt, table, and lap the second you pick up?  That description is not hyperbole, this one is chock-a-block with all sorts of dumb stuff.

For those that don't know, Defeat All Snakes is lowkey one of the best writers on the server, either in their AEs or in character.

But how were we supposed to be able to tell that from their verbose post above?!

I kid,  I really should try and get the time to post some of mine here.  In the meantime: see my sig?  Go look that mish up, then check out other ones I've published, pretty sure I have at least two comedies, and one is Dev's Choice!

  11. If you're really against taking the time to look up stuff ("I wonder if this recipe crafted is worth anything?") then just throw it at the AH for 5.  I mean, I feel that's leaving some money on the table, fairly easy money, buuuuut I'm mainly here for the pew pew pew, so the homework side of things often bores me as well.
