  1. Event starts in 15 minutes! Also if you don't want a free PL no idea why you're getting upset haha just don't get PL'd! Love you guys
  2. You know what guys, he's right, event cancelled. I can't believe we've made such a massive oversight! On a serious note we host anywhere, majority of pvp community is from indom hence the name. We might swap to excelsior and change the name in the future.
  3. Hi everyone! My new PvP community PvP Council Indomitable is throwing a community powerlevel event. Even if you don't intend to pvp anyone is welcome to join! DATE: July 30th - 2:45 PM EST LOCATION: Excelsior server - Pocket D AE DISCORD: https://discord.gg/QUdn7DHTDw
  4. EVENT DESCRIPTION This ruleset attempts to revive the disruption style pvp that existed prior to i13. Although nothing can replicate the craziness that was pre i13 pvp we can try to reintroduce some of the aspects that made that era so great by limiting meta archetypes and builds thus encouraging more disruption and adding a shielder role to bring back pure buffing roles. RULESET EXPLANATION Ruleset focuses on bringing more Archetypes into the mix while keeping 8v8 core in modified i13 meta intact (3 ranged offense w/ 2 healers). This should allow for more balanced teams if people want to bring non-meta characters. Shielder role adds additional dimension forcing shielders to choose between shielding, attacking and evading. The ban on APP/PPP(with shielder mode activated) shields will allow for more damage to make up for the lack of damage from going from 6 ranged offense to 3 ranged offense.
  5. Anyone can create the event if you can get enough people. Also you get free transfer tokens that refresh every week. So moving over to indom to come play is pretty simple. In the future I may run events exclusively on Excelsior through my new community. The new community is still in the works but for now transferring to indom once every Tuesday should at least allow you to get in on the 8v8 action. https://discord.gg/qfTYAufRt2
  6. 9 PM EST Tonight, TACO Tuesday! Link below for when the event goes live: Stream link: https://www.twitch.tv/coh_m3z
  7. Every player that signed up gets assigned to a team which leads to uneven teams.
  8. The Draft has been completed! See you all June 9th, I'll post stream link here when we go live with the first matches. See you there!
  9. Taco Tuesday starts now! Stream link: https://www.twitch.tv/coh_m3z
  10. Indom Kickball Tonight 9 PM EST! Everyone is invited! See you there.
  11. Are you disputing the devs don't know much about pvp or that they do? They definitely don't and that's not even a fault to them, it's just a complicated and completely separate system that's been divorced from PVE mechanics-wise since i13. So it really shouldn't be a surprise that no the devs probably don't know that much about pvp (in terms of balancing/changing the meta). As far as all of the hostility, you're giving the pvp community way too much credit, we don't have much of a say in terms of power changes. If the devs want to do something they will do it. And in regards to crey pistol cancelling, it was fun and it made more builds viable (isn't that what we want? more viable builds?). Is it a nonsensical bandaid that doesn't make sense and probably a bug? Yeah, but so is everything in pvp right now. It added a small amount of depth and allowed for ATs/powersets that used to rely on CCs or had very slow animations to be slightly more viable. Bottom line everyone just found it to make the game more FUN. 95% of the community wanted to keep it but the devs went ahead and did what they wanted. Now if you're wondering why the pvp community is focused on something as trivial as that and not the huge balance issues with ATs and powersets. Everyone in the community is aware of the balance issues. Everyone is aware that i12 is better. EVERYONE KNOWS! You are not the first person to see how BS pvp is right now. It's just a matter of dev resources. The code for i12 doesn't exist. Who knows how much work it would take to go back and then balance it. So many things exist now that that would absolutely ruin the game worse than anything that exists in pvp right now. There's just not enough dev resources to justify doing a massive undertaking like that right now. The solution is to fix/bandaid what we have now and just try and make it as enjoyable as possible IMO. Is it annoying that blasters/defenders are so much stronger than everything else? Yes, but let's focus on changes that can make other ATs/powersets viable in the current system. We'll probably have to get creative but I really don't think it'd be that hard to do small changes to make other ATs/powersets viable.
  12. Yeah when I come out of arena on my necro I tab out of the game because it explodes my ears.
  13. We're definitely working cleaning up the homecoming pvp discord, we also run PUG 8v8 pvp events every tuesday at 9 PM est. I am currently working on a video to help introduce new players/PVErs in 8v8 arenas including easy ways to fund builds and how to play certain roles.
  14. i13 just removed basically all of the mechanics(via DR) and made mezzes useless (outside of spiking in 8v8s) so nothing really functions. If those mechanics and mezzes were reintroduced a lot more things would be viable. But that'd be really complex thing to accomplish and balance. It would also require adjustments to DR curves, base resistances, procs in relation to base damage etc. Also i'd rather shoot myself then try to argue about mez changes with the competitive pvp community again because a lot of post i12 pvpers just don't have a clue about what made i12 so good. I've made so many posts about this same subject that I just can't rewrite the same thing I've written like 500 times lol so I'm gonna keep it nice and succinct this time.
  15. It's crazy that people probably have no idea there used to be like 15-20 different test pvp teams on live all with rosters ranging from 8-30 people before i13 killed all that. The community was really big. But yeah there's a legacy of pvpers including myself who've continued pvping since then.
  16. @TrooYou basically hit the nail on the head about there being lots of barriers of entry and how pre i13 it was much easier to get into pvp as your pve build for the most part functioned mechanics wise almost the same as how it did in pve. I'm working with some people on the organized pvp side of things to create a tutorial that will walk people through how to get into arena pvp including explaining roles, how to play them, how we keep things fair in 8v8s and how to fund builds. I tried to address any pain points PVE/zoners/regular players have with joining in arena. You'd actually be surprised how easy it is to turn 20 mil into a couple bill with just a few hours of work. In my opinion because 8v8s are a controlled environment it tends to be a lot more open to builds and a lot more fun in general to play and on top of that we force balance teams(in comparison to zones which in my opinion are insufferable 80% of the time). I'll post the vid in a couple places on here and the discord channels when it's ready.
  17. Organized PvPers basically had this exact discussion 2 years ago and we all kinda concluded i12 for the most part is better but not feasible to go back to it. Most of the bad i13 stuff has been reverted so the game is somewhat playable so the general idea was the just bandaid the game in its current state and go from there. We were a lot more ambitious in the beginning and were starting to get traction with devs but 1 dev didn't listen to us at all and did whatever he wanted the other dev stopped working on pvp related things after a while. I mean if they didn't listen to the organized community it's hard for me to picture them listening to PVErs who are going to start every post with "I don't pvp" or "I hate pvp". And it's not like this is how I want things to be but that's how it be.
  18. Low level pvp is surprisingly a blast. And yeah if there were more people in zones in general the cheese strats would matter less.
  19. How interested would be people be in a tutorial video that explains how to get into 8v8 arena including basic builds, strategies and how to play the builds in an 8v8 environment as well as explanations on how to make money fast to fund your builds (it's quite easy to turn 20 mil into a billion with just 20-60 mins in like 2-3 days and this can easily turn into much much more money the longer you stick with it). If this post gets enough likes or replies or whatever I'll think about doing it but it's not gonna come to a shock to anyone that making vids is a massive effort and actually costs money (which after getting cancer I don't have much spare money anymore) so let me know. Reply/post/react if anyone would be interested in me working with other people and putting something like that together.
  20. Only if you think the current meta is unplayable and irredeemable. I still think it can be fun and 8v8 arenas (casual pick up groups with balanced teams) can be very fun. Zones on the other hand I have no clue how to fix that lol. There are so many cheese strats that make it unbearable.
  21. Basically it'd just be a nightmare to rollback(nothing to rollback to to begin with, the code isn't there) and implement. A lot of balance issues. I don't think there is really anyone who'd be against going back to i12 as it's superior in every way but obviously there'd have to be changes and balancing and I don't know if I'd trust certain devs to do that on their own. If they did it with the pvper's input then sure. The HC devs really strangled their population and its growth by cutting streaming/vids (im sure they are 100% aware of this) and now I can't see any justification to spending much time on pvp given how small the population is now. Of course I'd love for them to do so but I don't see them updating even the PVE side of things (I think the last update was last April 2021??) let alone doing pvp specific changes. And also the mez system from i12 would have to be revamped for sure. Overall, it's just too complicated, we have almost 0 dev resources and the few devs who do do powerchanges are on a "I know best" mindset so I don't think you'd really want them making changes for pvp lol. I'd rather focus on small bandaid changes to the current meta and current issues than completely revamping, it's just more realistic and more likely to happen.
  22. 8v8s Starting now on Indom Link to stream: https://www.twitch.tv/coh_m3z Link to discord: https://discord.gg/ACfXPxK
  23. From what I remember, movement speed powers in general were changed fairly drastically in terms of DR curves and other ways that basically made all movespeed powers sj, ss, tp, fly all much more viable in their own way. Fly in general is actually much faster due to a combination of things including how buffs affect players and the power itself just being a little faster (anyone reading this correct me if I'm wrong). Fly is actually not too bad when used in combination with jaunt (experimentation teleport power) and teleport. The problem is that it takes a power pool, it's hard to justify trading super speed, experimentation, super jump, leadership, stealth, or force of will for fly. Emps/healers do actually use fly quite a bit but not from the fly pool, they use the fly effect from sorcery. Leadership(for the perception to see targets running stealth+stealth IO proc, impossible to play without perc in this point of the meta as everyone runs double stealth) and stealth pool (phase shift for escape) are both non-negotiable power pools at this point. That really just leaves two power pools to mess around with. You're usually stuck with going some form of super speed/experimentation with force of will/SJ. Super jump now gives double jump which is essentially jump pack and arguably way better than fly as you keep your forward momentum when attacking allowing you to stay on target better. Superspeed is good for hasten and staying mobile while facing slows/-jump. Experimentation gives you super speed and jaunt, the best evasion power in the game. Fly has no such benefits other than having high ground. The funny thing is, fly isn't even as good as super jump/double jump+arena jet pack at air combat. Fly also has bad uptime which is your ability to stick to and attack a target. Group fly is incredibly slow, you will not be able to catch a super speeding/super jumping/jaunting target with group fly, the second you get them low they will jaunt/tp out of the draw distance and you have no way to keep up. Also floating in the air (after attacking for instance) makes it easier to target you in team scenarios. TL;DR Can be used in combination with jaunt/tp to evade, downside is losing a key powerpool making you susceptible to -fly (stone blast/trick arrow will cripple you) you will be unkillable but you will never catch anyone either. Some people in zones don't mind playing like this though. If you want to base your playstyle solely around baiting other people into fights so you can attack while they are distracted go for it(I'm directing this towards people in general not you lol) Slower than other movement combinations Makes you easier to target Bad target uptime Group fly is far too slow, MMs biggest weakness is movement (pet move slow, MM relies on pets for BG mode for survivability thus MMs are essentially tied to their pet movement speed to move around. MMs have the worst uptime of any class in the game, even worse than melee. Better at handling -fly, still susceptible to it and when they are successfully -flied are completely crippled, no other movement ability is so crippled my a mechanic, especially in post-i13 pvp which is almost removed all meaningful mechanics aside from damage and healing. Pre i13 ss/sj etc were crippled by slows. Slows no longer matter, -fly still matters though. edit: I didn't proofread any of this, hopefully it makes sense.
  24. Thanks to anyone who tuned in. PuGs start tuesday (every week) at 9 PM EST US time.
