Telling someone to "suck it up" is not the same as telling them what actions they are allowed to take in the game. In this case, its telling them they won't get any sympathy coming here and complaining, especially with such hyperbole as they were using, about something that is irrelevant. I wasn't aware there was a "smack player for helping" action you could take in the game which we're forcing this person not to use, or a "refuse help" button. If there isn't such an ability then its not telling them how to play because, to restate, they are not being told to do anything differently from what they are doing now. There is no action they can take to accept help, there is no action they can take to keep others away from their enemies in open world, there is no action they can take to retaliate for being "helped". The only thing they can do is address the person they feel wronged them and no one has told them not to do so.

Most of the people I always liked reading what they'd post are either already here or I've forgotten their names, except for Arcanaville and BillzBubba

With salvage having been seeded on the market, salvage prices are already set. With Reward merits being generously awarded by missions (from what I've seen so far) and merit prices of recipes being so low, market prices for recipes are fairly low compared to what they used to be, so this already creates a maximum price. Not to mention that if something starts getting too high in price, turn in your reward merits for one and sell it yourself, instant wealth! That just leaves crafted enhancements. The controls on recipes and salvage tend to depress this market. Little there is selling for what it used to, either. This market should be entirely what the market will bear as someone took the time to buy and craft it for you. Don't like the price? Buy the recipe and salvage yourself and craft it yourself. Easy. So, your suggestion is already in the game, maybe not as low of prices as you might like, but nothing like what it was in the old days. At the end, hitting the inf cap was easy. Not looking very easy here, but not looking as necessary either.

XP/ Influence New addition Tweeks
Dr. Gemini replied to Drkwolf222's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't think you get more influence if you disable XP, though, so there is only a teaming option for it. So, I'd like to see Inf boost being an item. -
I've not been running into large groups of oranges in low-level missions. Some oranges, but not all of them. You might want to check you difficulty settings, though if you haven't visited the hero corps rep who adjusts them they should be set to same level. Also, you've wracked up no debt. You can't get debt until level 10.

The only people in this thread trying to dictate to others how they play is you. I would ask you to do two things, though. First, look up the definition of cheating as it clearly does not mean what you think it does. Second, don't bother GMs with something that is completely irrelevant in the game given the way the game handles things unless someone is griefing you with actual kill stealing, which means they're nuking mobs you're clearly going for before you can even engage. Doesn't it take 2 to argue? Aren't both sides tryong to enforce their own gameplay on others? Actually, no, it can take many more or less than 2 to argue. Also, no, to the second part. One side is requiring everyone to actively play in a manner that suits them. The other is not requiring any actions of them. If this thread we're the Council of Game Rules then we would have passed a resolution saying kill stealing is allowed. That would not require the people complaining about to one thing differently in how they play. They might choose to only play instances in response, but that would be a choice. If, on the other hand, everyone in the thread agreed and no kill stealing became a rule, those who take actions these people consider kill stealing would be required to play in a different manner than they currently do, whatever their reasons for attacking spawns another player has engaged.

Awesome! of course, you are now on my People to KillArrest list

The question now is, do you feel like what you got was worth 10 million inf? I remember those super packs in the old days. I loved them. I spent most of my points for subscribing on them, so I'd get quite a few. 10 million inf, though? I'm not seeing a path to making the kind of money I could on my characters in the old days (which is fine as prices in the market are generally much less), so I'm not seeing 10 mil as pocket change anymore. Seems rather exorbitant, and though I'm old and my memory is a little fuzzy on what was in them, I don't recall thinking they were worth an exorbitant price.

Does this apply to crafted enhancements or only recipes?

If you could rewrite a dialog exchange in CoX...
Dr. Gemini replied to LycraBoy's topic in General Discussion
I dislike most of the arcs created after Freedom (whatever issue that was). Some because the plotting was atrocious even by MMO standards, some because they were clearly balanced around having good IO sets even on lower level arcs. Not that there aren't a few gems in there, but most I really despise. -
Also, since you can form coalitions with other super-groups, it seems to me to make much more sense to form your own SG to have a private base, and coalition with other people you want to play with (who, theoretically, also have their own private SG).

All it does is delay the inevitable by an insignificant amount of time. Before the servers closed down, I had 3 characters at the Inf cap from farming Hero merits. It took a couple weeks at most. The fact is, the "generate hoards of resources" train left the station at Mach 10 the day you could buy IO set recipes, because it only took an hour a day to farm hero merits, and once you hoarded enough hero merits another 5 or 10 minutes to check what the high selling IO set pieces were, buy with those merits, and craft them. As someone who would rather play the game normally than farm it took almost nothing away from my gaming time. Further, 3 characters as at the cap was far more than I needed to finance 128 alts. That might have changed had I the chance to get more of those alts to level 50, but, endlessly farming merits is not a likely activity for anyone other than those who simply enjoy it, so I can't see it hurting the broader base of characters.

That's pretty much exactly what the 50 merits per alignment mission did. On Live, one alignment merit would get you most rare recipes. Some, like LotG +Recharges and uniques were two, and PvP and Purples were more expensive, but for the most part 50 merits/alignment mission was keeping pace. I thought it was more than 2 for those rarer ones (but I'm old, so I'm sure you're right). I do think 50 sounds like too much, though, given that purples cost 100, and, given what you pointed out, 20 is too little. Still, I don't see much reason to reduce the rewards given that this is not a commercial game. Grinding for gear is not what this game is about. I know for me, getting certain IO sets is not about the thrill of acquiring good gear (like in most games), but about being able to play in a manner I enjoy, which is being able to survive setting myself as worth multiple heroes and getting larger mobs. I always find it far more fun (and comic book appropriate) to be fighting large groups of foes, not tiny ones.

She reminds me of a certain frequent forum poster from back in the day. Give her blonde hair and a white costume (IIRC) and I think the resemblance would be uncanny. -
Also, things are much cheaper than they were in the old days. I don't remember after all this time but is this really a nerf when compared to the buying power reward merits have now over what hero/villain merits had back then?
-
We're all here to have fun, but that does not mean that everyone else will simply go along with what you think is fun and how you think everyone should behave. Further, many people here role play (in my opinion to a far greater extent than most games). They're not being rude or disrespectful when they're lending a hand, they are playing the game. So, you don't like it, we get it, but you might actually get some sympathy if you simply put it out there as your personal opinion (which it is) and not try to strengthen your argument by invoking some universal online code of conduct (which it isn't).

I'd rather see a solution other than limiting how often you can run the mission. As someone who can usually only play once a week, I never like 1/day limitations.

From the look on his face I'd say that chicken doesn't know that he's just there to be emergency rations... -
Normally, I don't like teaming with random people in a game. Back in the old days this game changed that. I teamed up quite often and the majority of people were nice and laid back. Of course, if you think about it the game itself is somewhat laid back. This is the only game I've played where you can type something quick in chat in the middle of combat and still fight well. The game system itself encourages interaction.

I still have a spreadsheet detailing the names and powersets of all 128 characters I had. I'll likely recreate some of them over time, but most will probably remain RIP. My main, Doctor Gemini, was originally an Inv/SS tanker because that was the closest to the character concept I could do. SS/Inv brute fits him better so that's what his recreation is.

Anyone else treat the different servers as alt realities
Dr. Gemini replied to trogenion's topic in General Discussion
Initially I had only 1 version of every character, but when villain ATs became available heroside, and later as new powersets came out, I ended up making alternate versions of several characters. -
From what I've seen so far everything you could buy with hero/villain merits you can now buy with reward merits. There's a 1 hero merit = 50 reward merits conversion option as well so I'm assuming you still get hero/villain merits, but it looks like its not as necessary as it used to be if you wanted the stuff you could purchase with them.

You can if you make an SG and only invite your own alts (or no one else)
