Focused Feedback: Blaster Secondary Revamp
Replacement replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
@laudwic Almost the entirety of your post to me is strawmen and taking me out of context. None of what you've said about my perspective is remotely close to my point. I had considered typing up clarifications but then I realized you'll just keep doing this. You gave your issue, I provided my perspective; we're done here. -
Focused Feedback: Teleportation Pool Revamp

Since this is an overall Teleportation Pool rework, I would like to toss in a suggestion for actual-Teleport to make it more agreeable for travel. Increase the hover time slightly (0.5-1 second). Stay with me, I have my reasons. Lower the fly speed penalties to be more like Hover or even faster. Let it represent maintaining your momentum. Changing direction is nothing in a game where I can Super Jump around corners. So let Teleport give us the same. Keep the "cancel fly on attack" so we still have a fast way down. I would still champion adding the descend button (default bind: X) as a means to immediately shut off the Fly effect as well. Keeping in mind Combat Teleport exists for people who hate the hover, I believe this would really help general usability in travel Teleport without resorting to things that are abusable or require two separate versions of the power to be handled with Redirects. -

@laudwic @Runebound If you want end of time to intentionally overperform, a few things have to happen. It's now iconic. It becomes part of the set's identity, such as Energy Transfer or Rage. I don't think anything about /time screams "best pbaoe damage" but enlighten me if you disagree. If a power is allowed to overperform, the same must hold true for underperformers. This means we are going to need to nerf some other powers in the set. More than one, in fact, since we have to assume the player will be gunning for the strong move and trying to dodge poor picks. If you disagree with this assessment, you are really saying "please let my character be intentionally overpowered" and I would suggest you are providing tears instead of feedback. Probably going to come out of Future Pain or Time Lord. That's ok, though, if we've determined those aren't the set's iconic powers. Rage turned out to be a great example of this: did you know the rest of Super Strength is absolute trash by the metrics, entirely because people insist on keeping Rage overtuned? EDIT: laudwic, Vanden's statement about being intentionally OP was likely a reference to the fact that, at game's close, all "pay to play" sets were coming out overtuned. Whether Paragon Studios was above intentional Pay2Win, I will leave for a different thread. -

If you have a ST hold in your kit, you should be able to drop it on a LT as they thaw out to extend their mez duration. EDIT: I think the only impact of the mag 2 being flagged "non-stacking" is that using Burnout and immediately recasting would only result in a mag 4 mez. -

BS. People need to stop saying this nonsense. Homecoming knows how many people are affected. Them moving forward with the change should tell you something. And those people get 1-3 power choices back, depending on how much they were "in it" for LRTP. -

Once a button is defined as a modifier, can it still be bound as normal? Pretty sure I can rebind shift by itself so I think the answer to this is yes but it feels like it's worth asking about. Example: I want to maintain default right-click-drag to move camera, but also have right click act as a modifier for other actions. Edit: I'll test tomorrow. Kinda weird that I posted this when I could find out...

Dear Powerhouse, For just one build, please set Energy Transfer cooldown to 1 second. I look forward to testing the community's capacity for self-immolation. -

Um. Am I getting that people would be happier if we just... Swapped the name/fx of Disruption and Acid Arrows? -

...I'm sorry, my brain is making a clicking noise. Are you saying the ToHit debuff is largely ineffective on anything above minions because those mobs are already at their ToHit Resistance floors? -
I mean, I don't think so and I think I'd remember trying. But also, Occam's Razor.

You uh... Sure this didn't leak into a live build? I have one character (energy/dev blaster) who keeps randomly flyposing while flying, and I can't figure out how to repro reliably.

@Blackfeather Oh yes, absolutely. I like this "mag 2.5" approach, and I hope to see some Control set buffs in a future page to further stress who the kings of mez are. I just don't see the benefit to the mag 1 portion being set to Stack, when it wears off the moment you give the enemy a firm glance. -

Mag 3 is not enough to affect a boss, so this will be just like on Live with it locking down LTs. Once the additional mag tapers off, it will only affect minions (though it'll still also be there to stack up with other effects, such as from procs). Tbh, I don't know what good it does to have the Mag 1 set to Stack, when it's the portion that only lasts 7 seconds. -
hey @Number Six Let me know if this is a bug I should report (I feel like it's more likely some setup incompatibility). I've been having weird stuff going on with my windows and scales since I swapped over to the HC launcher. Particularly, for some reason all my text I type is out of alignment (above the line). Also, all of my pop-up windows such as when I click on a Contact, all show up down and to the right of center instead of dead-center. This also affected other windows like my Compass being off to the right, but most windows were corrected by saving window settings to file again. But the pop-ups continue to default South East of correct on any new characters.

Thank you for the additional context! That means your issue boils down to losing +15% damage bonus for the damage proc. (the rest of the damage bonus - the portion which comes from staying out of combat - is still there) That's a valid opinion but I can't help but think: If that alone is enough for you to shelve the character, it must have been a tenuous connection already. I certainly won't sway you; your mind's made up. But just remember: you are this up in arms about losing half of a small red inspiration in exchange for fantastic Lethal procs. -

Thanks for posting feedback! I wanted to mention this quoted part: apparently you don't actually need to lead with AA. Because it's a "resist" effect, it actually continues to recalc. This means an existing ToHit debuff would suddenly find itself amplified once AA ticks in. Since we have nothing else like this in-game, it's something that (if it goes live) we will need to get clarity on and educate the masses about. -

@ABlueThingy Effing Sound. If you put it on attacks though, exec_auto may be enough -- they have cooldowns, so you'll be moving on to a new attack to Auto anyway! instead, bind aborts to your move keys. Sidenote: while I won't be binding teleport MAX (lol) to my WSAD, I may very well do something similar with Shift+WASD. -

I have an entirely way-too-cumbersome idea to replace the location buff in EMP Arrow. To make it worse, I'm going to lay out the logic for how to work it into power definitions (based on my own small-brained understanding) first and then explain it. The owner of the EMP Arrow has a large area pbaoe effect granting allies a hidden Grant Power: "EMPWatcher" which does nothing by itself. EMP arrow attaches a Grant Power "EMPed" to affected enemies. EMPWatcher is a global proc on your allies' attacks that runs a check to see if the target they're hitting has the EMPed condition (see Boggle logic in Psionic Melee). If the condition is true, then a successful attack grants ally a buff. ...So in other words: make EMP add no buffs directly. Instead, attacking EMP'd enemies grants you and your allies a (non-stacking) buff. Self can even get a lesser version. Well that was worse than I thought. -

This guy was an idiot, @oedipus_tex, it absolutely includes ToHit effects, including in the screenshot I posted back at the start of the thread! -

I like your gumption, but... how? What would that keybind look like? Pretty sure it would be something like /bind 1 "powexeclocation target combat teleport$$powexecname charged brawl" but, unless that works simply because they're different commands, I think they'll trip over each other and you'll just activate the attack. If you can make this work, definitely let us know.
