Focused Feedback: Energy Melee Revamp
Replacement replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
This I can understand. It's probably obvious that I don't mind -- I haven't played EM since i11 or so, when I became too disgusted to look at it, so I have no current attachment to a given attack chain. One small caveat... perhaps a nitpick even. You don't have to use Energy Transfer directly after Total Focus -- you have 15 seconds and a few other powers you can use. But sentiment received (especially since it kind of sucks to accidentally spend EF on Bone Smasher). On a barely-related note... I recommend folks try this set out on Stalkers. On-demand double-Focus mode is pretty crazy. Not likely to be used on an optimized toon, but slow-ET from Hide for a guaranteed heal is kind of a cute trick too. -

@Bopper just an added clarification - it shouldn't get the arc improvement (and I think it'd only be +50% if it did), but it does get the Tanker +5 target cap. -

I didn't realize every Stalker in the game already had Momentum. But seriously, I'm not trying to be combative about this. I just don't like to see it portrayed as some great hassle when in reality, you can mostly play the set ignoring Energy Focus and be fine. Comparing it to the most famously-cumbersome mechanic in the game just because of one similarity is too hot-take for me to not comment on. -

Yeah, if you're comfortable with your current amount of AoE, your existing toon should still see large performance improvements. -

Correct. Also gonna @Galactiman for this. So damage resist also resists damage debuffs of the same type. Example: if something increases resistance to Fire damage, it also increases your resistance to fire damage debuffs. Functional example: Tar Patch (-Resist all) amplifies damage debuffs on the affected enemies. On the one hand, half of PGA's debuff cannot get so enhanced since it's flagged to ignore those resistance debuffs. You can look at the numbers (50% total vs 37.5% or so for Dark Miasma's -DMG debuff) to understand why that's maybe a sane thing for them to do. On the other hand! This guarantees a very high performance floor against high-resist enemies! As Nihilii mentioned, there's basically no buff an AV can provide themselves to evade a pretty hefty -DMG resist effect. Additional Notes: Purple Patch is different from IgnoreResist. An AV being 3 levels above you is still going to reduce the irresistable portion. AVs do not have (to my knowledge) any special resist or resist-resist (lol?). This isn't a silver bullet that ignores everything that makes AVs special. -

Err. It's not momentum? All this really does is affect your ideal attack chain and give you one decision point: "what do after TF?" Give it a spin! -
Focused Feedback: Teleportation Pool Revamp
Replacement replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
It should be absolutely identical to both of those previous powers. Definitely post any differences from the two powers it's replacing! -

@WindDemon21 Test it out. For starters, it accepts Recharge reductions, which Jaunt doth not. Really, the only functional way I've been able to run myself out of charges (for lol2Seconds) has been trying to use it as a dedicated flat-plane travel power. Which, obviously, it's not intended to replace. -

@Lex Talion Test it out. You'll find Bone Smasher is your new guaranteed Stun, so you have lost no synergy. If you find a situation where Bone Smashing for the -Special/Regen is more powerful than fast-ET, certainly post those results. Making TF into an AoE would totally undermine the traditional setup of the set as ST-destroyer. -
Focused Feedback: Other Powers Changes

I suggest keeping strongly in mind that current shadow maul was overbuffed as a patch job to hold folks over until a more comprehensive take on the set could arrive. -
Example: Not intended to call anyone out; I just think the current status quo creates this sort of thing. Here is a thread created around a very singular suggestion: a gameplay suggestion revolving around A specific set (TW) A specific AT (Scrapper) A specific ATO It took one post to be derailed into how often TW is played, with an obvious segue to whether or not TW deserves nerfs. I count two posts on the entire first page that actually address the OP.

Suggestions & Feedback is too high up, and I'm seeing a lot of jokes from posters that basically point to the growing sense that S&F is a dumpster fire. I think there are real issues with S&F not having content moderation (as opposed to behavior moderation, aka "being a dick" vs "this is off topic and I'm splitting it into a GD discussion thread"). But this is all volunteer-moderated so... Occam's Razor. Make GD more prominently displayed; move it to the top of the subforum list and let it attract our trashy posts in a single, easier-to-moderate location. Hopefully help S&F get back to what it's supposed to be (especially the "Feedback" half of that title, which currently is an entirely lost concept).

Oppressive Gloom: self-damage scales against enemy level
Replacement replied to Replacement's topic in Bug Reports
I actually think I found the source of this bug (for Oppressive Gloom). On the self-damage portion of the power, here's the flags on the Brute version: "IgnoreStrength" "IgnoreResistance" "IgnoreLevelDifference" Here it is on the Mastermind version (which is apparently what Blaster pulls from, best I can tell) "IgnoreStrength" "IgnoreResistance" " CombatModMagnitude" So while I'm at it, let's see what Touch of Beyond says... "IgnoreResistance" "CombatModMagnitude" That's not a direct apples-to-apples check (and I need to run so I can't deep-dive TotB), but I think this is indeed what you're seeing -- it's ignoring Resist, which is great, but it's not ignoring the Purple Patch. -
@Number Six Do you want bug reports here or in the Beta bug reports sub-subforum? Bug: Automatic UI Scale was reset to "Enabled"; custom UI scales lost. However, I believe this is a global setting and fixing it once fixed on everyone else. At least, my 2nd character logged in didn't have the issue. Nice Touch: I saw you can drag around your favorite server. Neat. Question: is it intentional that there's no way to add a new manifest? I get that most other servers aren't running a compatible file structure, but I understand some of them (Sanctuary I think?) do, or will if they keep pace. Is the approach going to be to have those SCoRE-based servers deploy their own versions of the launcher and handle their own signing (I don't know a damn thing about signing anything deeper than an SSL, I'm just assuming this is something the server would have to handle)?

Just wanted to echo @RubyRed -- Chrome wanted me to Discard the launcher install, and then SmartScreen (Win10 home) tried to stop it in its tracks. PSA: If you see a message saying Windows Smartscreen has blocked the application and the only button is "Don't Run" or similar: press the little "more info" link in the lower-left to expose the Run Anyway button.

Give Radiation Blast Toxic Damage
Replacement replied to Alchemystic's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
This is sort of what I was thinking when reading your OP. IIRC, several of the attacks have a DoT component already, which could be converted to toxic.- 28 replies

I get this but I feel like... Live is dead, and we now have WP. You don't need Regen to become a passive set. Related: biggest buff to Regen is still moving the Heal effects to the start of the animation.
-
Also, I think I will feel differently in an hour but atm... I'm liking the idea of 8/9ths @Bopper and 1/9th @Vanden -- get Revive earlier in the set instead of mega Revive at the end. @Supertanker mentioned basically rolling it into Reconstruction and that's maybe a bit much, but I could see rolling it into Dull Pain. Better yet, I could see Instant Healing moved earlier and give it a pulsing revive effect. As in, stays active through defeat, pulses a self-revive every 10 seconds or so.
-
You know I understand this assessment but I would like to propose a grisly counterpoint: Absorb effects typically represent an ablative effect taking the damage in your stead (with some exceptions). Regen is uniquely positioned in the lore to describe it as your own flesh providing the ablation. Essentially: you are the expendable barrier. Mechanically, it's just a way to provide some regeneration without dealing with the deep system rules (predefined universal interval, max hp scaling).

Get rid of the XP penalty from Confusion. It's so dated. You can add other weaker penalties, like no xp unless you (or a group member) at least tag the enemy. But I don't see why a Mind Controller is entitled to any less xp than a Mastermind. That's the best buff to Mass Confusion, for me at least.

"What Would You Do?" Theoretical Bug Found
Replacement replied to FoulVileTerror's topic in General Discussion
AI topic: as someone smart once said: If the AI you've just created is so smart, do you think it would find it wise to try to take on a race known for genocide?
