So why does the title for my thread say Edited?

100 - (50 + 40) = 90% total mitigation. 100 - (50 + 45) = 95% total mitigation. You are already mitigating 90% at 40% Def. You literally can't double it. What you are dealing with in going to 45% is your remaining mitigation. While yes, to get a more accurate read on a set skipping on pool powers helps, but the Fighting pool has long been a default for melee characters even before even IOs. Illusion control has long been judged based on having PA be perma. Try that using SOs and without Hasten. "This set is perfectly fine as a standard as long as no one uses things freely available to them" is a weird flex. Regen not having debuff protection is a failing of Regen. Tough and Weave aren't saving it from that.

Hit up Croatoa and do the mission where you need to prevent the Fir Blog from escaping. I did that as revenge after failing so badly on another character.

As someone who studied to me a Math teacher, no I'm not wasting my time in a spreadsheet.

The number one reason why I rerolled my Claws/regen on Live to Claws/wp here was due to the lack of clicks. Even as a player of Kins, I got tired of the clicking. Regen needs debuff protection from -Regen, -Recharge, and -Recovery. If SR gets so much DDR to protect against its primary source of mitigation, then Regen should get equal treatment. They are both essentially one trick ponies.

You can edit your post title. Since you responded to me, I got a notification, but since the thread was deleted, I don't know what was said. I forgot mention, I don't see the need for the Power Transfer IO.

honoroitisfantastic POLL: Brute - best of AT 2023
Without_Pause replied to honoroit's topic in Brute
Update, I rerolled to BA/stone for no fault of EA. I just wanted another go with Stone on a Brute. By no means a 1:1 comparison, but the BA/stone Brute has had a decidedly easier time on certain missions compared to my Claws/ea. Part of that is due to burst damage. Another factor is while BA is end heavy, Stone allows you to stand there and take a breath while Mud Pots slowly works on them. Using Mud Pots and Brawl, yes Brawl, to finish off various targets has helped a lot in keeping End sane, but the build is only 23. Slotting is currently a mish mash of IOs with only some logic for the slotting. I went and did a build, so I will convert over at 27. Energy Def like others is a work in progress so First Ward missions are interesting at +0/x3. BA/stone is at 33. I left off at x5, but I need to bump that. -
honoroitisfantastic POLL: Brute - best of AT 2023
Without_Pause replied to honoroit's topic in Brute
Fury loves DoT. If I had to make one Brute, Savage is in the running. It's biggest con is that it offers so little of mitigation outside killing speed so it pairs better with sturdier armors. It is end friendly so if the armor is end heavy, it helps. ST damage could be better since Hemorrhage isn't worth taking. -
Corr: Ice/kin. Loads of damage with some mitigation. Def: Time/rad. I'll accept Time/beam as well since Time's -Regen isn't great, I look for Def, Recharge, and End. This covers all of them and tosses in some controls as well. Rad mostly due to -Def and a number of AoEs. My attack chain is practically nothing but AoEs even in my early 30s. Unlocking Judgement feels almost unfair. Controller: Ill/dark. Plant/dark is also acceptable. Perma PA means alpha strike is a joke. Controllers got the best support version of Dark.

It doubles your remaining survival rate. It does not double your total survival rate.
-
'Infinite funds' is like 500 mill. Getting that level of mitigation isn't THAT difficult. I have self funded level 30 characters fully IOed out and 500 mill sitting. Hell, @Yomo Kimyatawill send anyone a one time 100 mill for anyone who sends them a DM in game.
-
If I go from 1% to 2%, then I am doubling my survival rate. That's how Math actually works. If I'm going from 44% to 45%, then I am adding 2% more mitigation because again, that's literally how Math works. How about you hop on that Regen Scrapper and you go first? Wait, you don't want to deal with x8 mobs on a Regen Scrapper with just SOs and no pool powers. Why I... People's point is simply that if you dump everything you can into Regen, then it still will end up lacking compared to other sets which you seem to be ignoring as much as possible. Again, Regen is perfectly fine for normal play.
-
I honestly can't think of any Scrapper secondary that would literally get 95% of its mitigation from pool powers. That's a set which doesn't even get put on the Beta server. Case in point, I deactivated all pool powers on my EA Scrapper and still got Def numbers near 40% and numerous Res in the 40% range. And yes, that is a full IOed out build, but I don't think even on SOs your statement holds up. Pool powers don't offer THAT much mitigation. I'm getting around 12% more Def with pool powers. As someone who's namesake here is from a Claws/regen on Live who used nothing more than Level 25 common IOs, it solos fine on the original diff settings. End game mobs can be annoying, but not to where I felt like the build was unplayable. Regen is way easier to level soloing than SR or Shield. Both of those sets can use IOs and even more so Incarnates to wave a big ole wand over their sets issues. It is why I have so few of them at 50. Hell, I debated keeping a Dark/shield Scrapper who was running on common IOs. Part of the issue here is some sets get left behind when it comes to IOs and Incarnates while others flourished. Regen got better with those, but other sets really took off when those got added. I solo +3/x8 on a Scrapper build comfortably enough to where I could easily do it at +4. I don't use Barrier or Shadow Meld. Brutes don't even get Shadow Meld.
-
I did a quick build run through converting my Claws/regen Scrapper on Live to a Brute here as close to as is. S/L Res are near 80%. Everything outside of Toxic is the 30s. Toxic is 46.2%. The best Def numbers came from positions but Melee was the only one that hit 30%. R/AoE were 21% and 17.2%. S/L was the only typed Def to hit 20%. Kat/regen would at least be tolerable with DA giving 15% Melee Def. At this point I would start to really play around with powers to see even if taking mule type powers made things work better. Lets say EA has a Psy whole. I can get D/R numbers to be 24.9% and 38.8%. For Regen, those are currently 17.2% and 31.2%. Switch it to a ranged attack and EA still wins out.

honoroitisfantastic POLL: Stalker - best of AT 2023
Without_Pause replied to honoroit's topic in Stalker
CS has a 3.036 Arcana Time. Burst is 2.904, so yes they are. I continue to never take Overload, and I am near having four Level 50 EA builds across all of the ATs which get it. EA is still one of my favorite armors in the game. It is that or Stone. -
Part of the issue for ease of play is that stuff like IOs and Incarnates pointed towards an end game which never fully got added. Using Incarnate abilities on non-Incarnate content is a bit obvious in how that's going to lead to one-sided content.
-
I think the one posted above works perfectly fine. I went and started to hammer out a build for my own level 50, and number wise there are some changes, but overall they are rather similar. Mine's a bit more offensive due to procs in Tar Patch and Howling Twilight and damage slotting in the Epic powers but is also currently lacking 20% recharge. My ToHit is higher though. Obsidian Smoke - Corruptor (Fire Blast - Dark Miasma).mbd

Someone must have been reading this thread and made a Ice/regen Scrapper in Excel. I read their bio, and it implied they were trying out the build and they were sorry for any failing it had, or some such language. I got a chuckle out of it.
-
I'm not even sure I have seen people talk about that term here/Live in terms of actually being used in CoH even 5% of the time. Maybe 1%? That term was VASTLY talked about in terms of other MMOs and how CoH wasn't like them.
-
Its insulting. More so for a game which includes FF, Sonic, and TA. Oh, you don't heal? You aren't wanted. Go play a real support set.
-
Ice Melee is cheat code for /regen though. Ice Patch mitigates so much incoming damage even if the damage is lower, that it simply won't matter. I've street swept +5s in my 20s on a couple different builds simply due to Ice Patch.

Full Procs vs. Limited Procs: A Pylon DPS Comparison
Without_Pause replied to Ston's topic in Archetypes
Oddly enough I've never taken it, and it feels like it is on the bottom of the list of things I would take. Maybe someday I'll grab it as a secondary option and see if I like it better. -
So, not a trinity at all holy or not. As someone who ODed on Kin on Live, I prefer not having Kin or Dark reduced to being 'healers.'
-
All support teams laugh at the idea CoH was ever about the Holy Trinity. You might have wanted it or needed it, but many of us absolutely went against it.
-
I don't mind them so much if they are a bit flexible. DB's combo system can die in a fire. More so when there is no combo which works best for DPS. You gave something a combo system so a player can ignore it. Here's your sign. I rolled a BA/stone Brute due to how much it was going to overperform. I dinged Level 20, and so far so good.
