  1. 'Infinite funds' is like 500 mill. Getting that level of mitigation isn't THAT difficult. I have self funded level 30 characters fully IOed out and 500 mill sitting. Hell, @Yomo Kimyatawill send anyone a one time 100 mill for anyone who sends them a DM in game.
  2. If I go from 1% to 2%, then I am doubling my survival rate. That's how Math actually works. If I'm going from 44% to 45%, then I am adding 2% more mitigation because again, that's literally how Math works. How about you hop on that Regen Scrapper and you go first? Wait, you don't want to deal with x8 mobs on a Regen Scrapper with just SOs and no pool powers. Why I... People's point is simply that if you dump everything you can into Regen, then it still will end up lacking compared to other sets which you seem to be ignoring as much as possible. Again, Regen is perfectly fine for normal play.
  3. I honestly can't think of any Scrapper secondary that would literally get 95% of its mitigation from pool powers. That's a set which doesn't even get put on the Beta server. Case in point, I deactivated all pool powers on my EA Scrapper and still got Def numbers near 40% and numerous Res in the 40% range. And yes, that is a full IOed out build, but I don't think even on SOs your statement holds up. Pool powers don't offer THAT much mitigation. I'm getting around 12% more Def with pool powers. As someone who's namesake here is from a Claws/regen on Live who used nothing more than Level 25 common IOs, it solos fine on the original diff settings. End game mobs can be annoying, but not to where I felt like the build was unplayable. Regen is way easier to level soloing than SR or Shield. Both of those sets can use IOs and even more so Incarnates to wave a big ole wand over their sets issues. It is why I have so few of them at 50. Hell, I debated keeping a Dark/shield Scrapper who was running on common IOs. Part of the issue here is some sets get left behind when it comes to IOs and Incarnates while others flourished. Regen got better with those, but other sets really took off when those got added. I solo +3/x8 on a Scrapper build comfortably enough to where I could easily do it at +4. I don't use Barrier or Shadow Meld. Brutes don't even get Shadow Meld.
  4. I did a quick build run through converting my Claws/regen Scrapper on Live to a Brute here as close to as is. S/L Res are near 80%. Everything outside of Toxic is the 30s. Toxic is 46.2%. The best Def numbers came from positions but Melee was the only one that hit 30%. R/AoE were 21% and 17.2%. S/L was the only typed Def to hit 20%. Kat/regen would at least be tolerable with DA giving 15% Melee Def. At this point I would start to really play around with powers to see even if taking mule type powers made things work better. Lets say EA has a Psy whole. I can get D/R numbers to be 24.9% and 38.8%. For Regen, those are currently 17.2% and 31.2%. Switch it to a ranged attack and EA still wins out.
  5. CS has a 3.036 Arcana Time. Burst is 2.904, so yes they are. I continue to never take Overload, and I am near having four Level 50 EA builds across all of the ATs which get it. EA is still one of my favorite armors in the game. It is that or Stone.
  6. Part of the issue for ease of play is that stuff like IOs and Incarnates pointed towards an end game which never fully got added. Using Incarnate abilities on non-Incarnate content is a bit obvious in how that's going to lead to one-sided content.
  7. I think the one posted above works perfectly fine. I went and started to hammer out a build for my own level 50, and number wise there are some changes, but overall they are rather similar. Mine's a bit more offensive due to procs in Tar Patch and Howling Twilight and damage slotting in the Epic powers but is also currently lacking 20% recharge. My ToHit is higher though. Obsidian Smoke - Corruptor (Fire Blast - Dark Miasma).mbd
  8. Someone must have been reading this thread and made a Ice/regen Scrapper in Excel. I read their bio, and it implied they were trying out the build and they were sorry for any failing it had, or some such language. I got a chuckle out of it.
  9. I'm not even sure I have seen people talk about that term here/Live in terms of actually being used in CoH even 5% of the time. Maybe 1%? That term was VASTLY talked about in terms of other MMOs and how CoH wasn't like them.
  10. Its insulting. More so for a game which includes FF, Sonic, and TA. Oh, you don't heal? You aren't wanted. Go play a real support set.
  11. Ice Melee is cheat code for /regen though. Ice Patch mitigates so much incoming damage even if the damage is lower, that it simply won't matter. I've street swept +5s in my 20s on a couple different builds simply due to Ice Patch.
  12. Oddly enough I've never taken it, and it feels like it is on the bottom of the list of things I would take. Maybe someday I'll grab it as a secondary option and see if I like it better.
  13. So, not a trinity at all holy or not. As someone who ODed on Kin on Live, I prefer not having Kin or Dark reduced to being 'healers.'
  14. All support teams laugh at the idea CoH was ever about the Holy Trinity. You might have wanted it or needed it, but many of us absolutely went against it.
  15. I don't mind them so much if they are a bit flexible. DB's combo system can die in a fire. More so when there is no combo which works best for DPS. You gave something a combo system so a player can ignore it. Here's your sign. I rolled a BA/stone Brute due to how much it was going to overperform. I dinged Level 20, and so far so good.
  16. A fully procced out build is also sacrificing durability.
  17. I wouldn't use the regular heal sets for Transfusion. Outside of the +4 mob aspect, there's simply too many mobs which impact your ability to hit anyway. That build gives just 38.3% +ToHit. I've been on my Scrapper with 97.6% start missing a lot for certain mobs. Just a quick scan over the build, one slotted Wormhole and 6-slotted with ATOs for Churching Field. WTF? They don't even take an Epic AoE attack to leverage using Crushing Field.
  18. Scrappers and Stalkers get Weapon Mastery so you don't have to go for a Dominator. If I wanted to make a ninja based Dom, I would go Gravity for my primary.
  19. I did a DB/dark at one point. I think DB has some good choices for weapon customization.
  20. Technically it looks like Claws and EM are tied, and as nihilii pointed out, that doesn't factor in resistances where EM would pull ahead. DB isn't even 7% better than EM in terms of time, and my leaning is that DB is going to be more resisted than 7%. Plus, I always feel like adding Epics in is a bit of a cheat since things like Gloom overperform in terms of DPA. I've never taken a Epic attack for Claws because frankly I don't feel like I need one. There is also the burst damage factor as well. A set with more burst damage is going to take out a minion quicker and move on as where something that has lesser burst is going to take that extra attack to finish off the minion. EDIT: This doesn't change the fact that a EM Scrapper is absolutely going to wreck things and be S tier for Scrappers. I only stopped playing my EM/ea Scrapper because I don't like EM, but it is likely the only S tier build I have played that I won't take to 50. EDIT #2: EM is currently leading the poll for the Best/Meta/etc set for a Scrapper. Ice/Fire/DB combined have half the votes of EM.
  21. It does. I can't recall the exact numbers, but add in Epic attacks, and I don't see a reason to use Propel outside of the fact that it looks cool.
  22. To add, Kin's best DPA is in an attack which has a 3.036 Arcana Time and has a 20 second recharge. Claws isn't alone in this, but Kin's AoE really isn't that good either. Compare Shockwave and Repulsing Torrent. Scrapper numbers are 55.29 DPA versus 30.667 DPA. I've done Kin a couple of times, and I delete it every time. Today I did a mission with Tsoo, and I kept looking at them and going, "But it looks so cool." Regen wants sets with quicker animation times and mitigation with at least reasonable DPS. Claws/regen is popular for more than just Wolverine. Kat/regen has also been a strong recommendation.
  23. Old school City of Data and the Calculator app. 🙂
  24. The counterpoint is Kin's animations being on the longer side and the DPA being underwhelming. Let's take PBAoE. Brute numbers: Whirling Smash: Arcana Time: 1.188 sec. DPA: 36.51 // Needs Momentum Spin: Arcana Time: 2.64 sec. DPA: 29.86 // So skipping the Scrapper version. Dragon's Tail: Arcana Time: 1.716 sec. DPA: 28.72 Foot Stomp: Arcana Time: 2.244 sec. DPA: 26.39 // Rage not factored in. Axe Cyclone: Arcana Time: 1.767 sec. DPA: 23.6 Frozen Aura: Arcana Time: 2.244 sec. DPA: 26.47 Mass Levitate: Arcana Time: 2.64 sec. DPA: 22.434 Atom Smasher: Arcana Time: 3.168 sec. DPA: 21.24 Lightning Clap: Arcana Time: 1.452 sec. DPA: 21.199 The Lotus Drops: Arcana Time: 1.98 sec. DPA: 21.06 Rending Flurry: Arcana Time: 2.376 sec. DPA: 20.75 // Base damage no DoT, normal mode version. Fire Sword Circle: Arcana Time: 2.904 sec. DPA: 20.45 // I skipped the DoT because the numbers were already better. Eye of the Storm: Arcana Time: 2.772 sec. DPA: 19.12 Whirling Hands: Arcana Time: 2.64 sec. DPA: 18.71 Burst: Arcana Time: 2.904 sec. DPA: 17.95 Whirling Sword: Arcana Time: 2.904 sec. DPA: 17.23 // Assuming the DoT all hit. Spinning Strike: Arcana Time: 1.98 sec. DPA: 16.22 // Likely lower due to combo system, technically a targeted AoE Whirling Mace: Arcana Time: 2.904 sec. DPA: 16.08 Tremor: Arcana Time: 2.772 sec. DPA: 15.64 Spine Burst: Arcana Time: 3.168 sec. DPA: 14.48 // I technically did only 2 of the 3 DoT even though odds are that's on the low side. Typhoon's Edge: Arcana Time: 2.508 sec. DPA: 9.48 // Numbers are likely low due to being the finishing move in a combo. Also, /regen doesn't want to be caught in long animations.
  25. Attuned IOs or purples only, and to be fair, most builds never see a purple in them. I tend to build for Def/mitigation, End management, and Recharge. Everything else tends fall into place.
