  1. I've been running an Invuln/Staff Tank and, without IO sets (using standard non-set IOs), she's been the quickest one that I could up the difficulty on.  Only thing that feels off with her is that there is no NoRedraw option for the attacks.  Also adding that Guarding Strike (the first cone they get) has an enormous area-of-affect and boosts your Def.

As far as your Kinetic Melee thoughts, I'd pair it with a Def-heavy set where the -Dam from the attacks will be more visible (my experience is based on a KM/EnA Stalker).  The math is odd when you're combining -Dam attacks with +Res armors.

  2. My main back on Live was a FF/Rad Offender and I re-rolled her here as Rad/FF.  PFF, Defelction/Insulation, Dispersion, and Bomb from */FF leaves a LOT of spots open for blasts and aux powers (Aid Self, looking at you!).

I also feel that Rad Blast is one of those sets that works very well for Scourge (and for slotting the ATO with the +Chance for Heal in Irradiate). Neutrino Bolt is a machinegun of a power, very low damage, but fast firing.  Proton Volley will always be one of my favorite snipes because of the PewPewPew.

FF with the +Def and Rad Blast with the -Def (lots of room for Achilles) and everything just works.

  3. Here is my build as it is being played after just finishing all of the 1-20 Praetoria content (only 2 deaths with it, too!).  Pay no attention to empty slots as those are being filled with just bare-bones L20 non-set IOs (Acc, Rech, Dam) and the such.

Again, if anyone has a build, or builds, for this lying around, I would love to be able to see what to aim for when that times comes.

And thank you to both @Coyote and @Frostweaver for your inputs so far.  I have macro'd Burst of Speed to make it more manageable, but I failed to grab Dragon's Tail as I have almost found a great rhythm with the combat of those Prae-arcs, but I am not against changing everything up.

I was planning to fit Acrobatics and Tough/Weave into the build, so some tips would be appreciated.

Again, thank you all so much for putting up with our questions.

  4. Members of the Blaster community, I come to you for a request.  As someone who has not rolled a Blaster since i2ish, I am at a loss for direction.

I recently rolled this character as a concept, but then started having fun with her while leveling through Praetoria.

I am currently only L13, so not too far along.  I would like to keep Reach for the Limit and Speed of Sound if at all possible.  Whirlpool and Burst of Speed, while nice, have not been seeing much use as things tend to melt with just a steady rotation of Bolt>Burst/Dehydrate ,the P2W attacks, and Ki Push whenever mobs get in close (did not take Storm Kick as I had planned to avoid BLAPping, but I'm not averse to the style.  Also, for when I get that high, how does Martial Combat>Reaction Time work?  It's a toggle that needs to be de-toggled for full effect?

I'm not over-flowing with INF, so I would love to have a starter build (non-Purple) to begin to work towards.

Again, thank you for reading/responding and any and all help is greatly appreciated.  Much love to you and yours today and everyday.

  5. Mained a FF/* Offender and Bots/FF MM back during Live.  Currently running an NRG/* Sent, Grav/* Dom, and Ill/Storm Controller.  Yeah, those Kinetic Crash sets are a Godsend!  Much love for you to embrace the KnockBack!  People in-game are a lot better about it than people in-forums I've found.

I do want to throw out that I love seeing people take Repulsion Bomb.  Just an old power (from a Def Primary!) that I see many overlook in favor of less-KB options.  Good on you!

I think you hit the nail on the head:  find the combo that works.  I love EA on brutes and stalkers (loving my StJ/EA stalker at the moment), and would have loved it on my sentinel had it not been archery.  To me it feels like EA doesn't get as much praise.  It's one of the coolest sets in the game!  It has LAYERS and a heal/end discount power (also +def/mob on stalker).  Truly amazing set.  Yeah, there's a Psi Hole, but that can somewhat be filled.

That's how I got hooked with Energy Aura, just toying around with it on a Stalker back on Live and re-rolled her here (KM/EnA).  Just one of the more safe sets out of the box for both Stalkers and Sentinels *if* you can go without Energize for that long.  Brutes, on the other hand...  I really want to like */EnA, but I think I picked a bad combo going Rad/EnA because this is just draining on the End bar, but it fits the concept, so I'm sticking with it!

  7. As a mostly solo player, I'll throw my hat in as loving the Sents once I found a combo that worked.  That was how I got hooked on NRG/EnA.  The combo clicked for me and was a fun ride up to 50 (including one of the few times I was able to knock the Incarnate unlock upside the head).

I'm one of those "only slots basic IOs" people, so your mileage will vary.  I'd imagine that, with proper sets, I'd've been able to do it quicker, but it worked for me.

**Note that "basic IOs" also means that I don't slot KB>KD pieces, not a fan of them in any of my builds.  I want to watch mobs go flying, not bounce in place.  If I wanted that, I'd take Air Superiority

  8. After leveling one, I'd like to point you towards Kin Melee/Energy Aura.  If you can get over the "ZOOM!" attacks, the combo is great for debuffing enemy attack power while keeping very high defenses for yourself, an AOE End drain, and a heal/end reduction clicky.  One of the few combos that I took through Praetoria that was able to survive everything Gold-side threw at me

  9. (Off topic to a degree)

I recently rolled an Invuln/Staff Tank and, though she's only L20 now, the ride has been fairly safe.  Drop all of the P2W enhances into Guarded Spin and it comes close to 3-stacking itself.

Also, concerning Guarded Spin, it seems that every target hit can build a stack of Mastery?  Hitting a single target builds one, but when I line up targets, it can go from zero to three in a single click.  Not complaining, but just unsure if it's working as intended

  10. @Troo That was going to be my second guess as to why most drop it.  Thank you for clarifying.

As per your other recommendation (Stacking Disrupt with the other stuns in KM), I've read conflicting posts about Disrupt.  Does it, or does it not activate when Hidden or Out of Combat?  Some posts say it stays active while Hidden, but only does the Chance for Stun post alpha strike.

  11. @oldskool and @Troo -- Thank you both for your input and for taking the time to point me in the right direction.  "Not breaking the bank" is my go-to for most builds, as lower-tier as they are, so I appreciate any and all advice.

As for Kin Melee -- I See a lot of people who rec'd against Concentrated Strike.  Is it as bad as people say, or is it that the effect is almost made obsolete if I were to slot the +Build Up ATO?

    Some do, some don't.

Repulsion Bomb and Force Bolt (Force Field) do.

    Gale (Storm) does.

    Lightning Storm (Storm) does not.

Thank you for this as my Rad/FF was getting close to Repulsion Bomb and it's been one of my favorite "attacks" in the past

  13. My lone-Praetorian this time around was my Kin/Energy Stalker and she was a blast to level with.  Sure, they're typed Defenses, but the dice were always very much in my favor.  Pair that with a set that gives -Dam on every hit and it's a very tanky build/combo.

Managed to solo my way through all of Praetoria, First and Night Wards included, with no difficulties

  14. I have a L50 Ill/Storm/Psy and the only advice I can give is to avoid the KB>KD IOs.  Embrace the chaos.  Below is my build.  I only have basic IOs in most slots, though with 5x Dampened Spirits in Hurricane and 6x Kinetic Crash in Tornado (Kinetic Crash is the cheapest set to get you the 7.5% Recharge bonuses)

  15. I never managed to get into the playstyle of Stalkers back on Live, so I wanted to give it a solid chance this time around.  After trying out various combinations, this was the one I settled on.  My build, currently, is a hodgepodge of SOs and IOs, but with the "Chance to Hide" ATO in AS.

If anyone would have any cheap/Yellow builds lying around, it would be mighty helpful to learn where I need to go.  Below is my current build.  It worked fine for leveling, but I'd love to learn different takes on the combo.

    Thank you all in advance

  16. For what it's worth, I took all three on my Ill/Storm.

I run Superior+Group while soloing and Group+Mist while teaming.

Soloing, I'm all about that Deceive and causing as much mischief as possible while letting the pets do the heavy lifting.  Teaming, I tend to not do much because people do not appreciate what */Storm brings to the table (I've had teams ask me to turn off Steamy Mist because it "lowers framerates."  Yes, I get that, but it also makes you just that little bit tougher...)

The good news about running all three options is that there're three of five spaces for the LotG 7.5%

  17. Have you considered an Earth/Trick Arrow?  No, you won't be dealing damage at all, but you will be a CONTROLLER'S Controller.

    Single-target Holds?  Two of 'em.

    -Def and -Res?  You bet'cha.

AOE immobs, disorients, and sleeps?  Four!

A steady way to light your own Oil Slick Arrow?  YES!

  18. Old FF/Rad/Psi Offender from "back in the day" (Rolled my first character, the aforementioned FF/Rad, in Aug of '04 and kept her as my main until the Shutdown)

Just chiming in with a huge *Thank You!* for re-posting this.

Finally decided to re-make my Offender and, just like 15 years ago, this combo is still one of my all-time faves.

Much <3 to the other FFers out there and any/all that enjoy the controlled chaos that we bring to every team

  19. I use these two:

    /bind numpad0 "powexec_toggleon Ninja Run$$powexec_toggleon Sprint"

    /bind decimal "powexec_toggleoff Ninja Run$$powexec_toggleoff Sprint"

I add in Super Speed/Super Jumping for the "toggleon" sections if I have them, and Combat Jumping set to turn "on" in the "toggleoff" line when applicable.  On Stalkers, I also have Hide set to turn on *before* Sprint (it would be the final in the bind, everything happens from Right to Left).

Do keep in mind that the above needs two button presses for Sprint/Ninja, but it's on the same button, and only one button for toggling off.  If you add any other conditionals to the first bind, Super Speed/Jumping/Hide for example, you need that many more presses.

/bind numpad0 "powexec_toggleon Ninja Run$$powexec_toggleon Super Speed$$powexec_toggleon Super Jump$$powexec_toggleon Sprint$$powexec_toggleon Hide" requires 5 presses of the same button, but, if you exemplar down to where you don't have Speed/Jump, those will be skipped in the presses.

Also, toggling on of Combat Jumping will turn off Ninja Run and Super Jump, much like toggling on Ninja Run will cancel all of Combat Jumping and Super Speed/Jump

  20. 1, 6, 12, 18, 26, and 32 are when you take your MM abilities

For the */Kin side of things, take everything *except* Repel as soon as they become available.  Do not skip anything from */Kin *except* Repel (I mean, you can skip IR if you don't want to wait that long for a travel, but, honestly, Sprint+Ninja Run are more than adequate for anything sub-28)

My Necro/Kin grabbed Maneuvers at 4, Assault at 8, Tactics at 14, and Venge at 22.  Recall and Stealth round out my Pool Powers, but even those were questionable

  21. I'm running a DM/Ice Brute and it is stupidly strong.  Double PBAoE end transfers (one with a +Def per mob component), a PBAoE build-up, and two heals, along with -ToHit attacks on a +Def armor set?  Yeah, <bleep!>

I was lucky enough to have played */Ice Armor during the CoV Alpha/Beta cycle and was always amazed that it was pulled before going Live.  Never once did I feel as though I was underperforming as either a tank, or as a Fury-capped DPSer.

You won't be let down and, if anything, you'll show teams just how awesome it is
