  1. I came here to see if anyone else was having the problem I am seeing.

I run a lot of MSRs, and I use the 64 bit client. What we have noticed is that before and during the raid we tend to have people crash to desktop "in chunks" - usually several players at once - and the common denominator seems to be the 64 bit client.

Yesterday, while running MSRs I crashed to desktop 3 times. Twice was after the pylon phase during the raid, but the other was at PDH as we were recruiting. It "feels" like when this happens the client gets overloaded with chat and/or increased player activity. Yesterday it seemed to be worse than usual - we had several players crashing at about the same time, making it very difficult to assemble teams.

Is there a way to capture something that would be helpful with this?

  2. Yesterday on Everlasting, Krow tried to run this via LFG and I wanted to give a little feedback. In short, it didn't work.

From a technical standpoint, only about half the league actually got transported into the trial. We were unable to figure out how to resolve this and ended up just moving to RWZ to run it as usual. I was surprised that the doors at PDH would open and take me back out of the trial to KW where we started, but I could go back into the trial through LFG. So, while I was able to bounce back and forth between KW and PDH, half the league couldn't get in at all. I'm not sure if the doors at PDH were supposed to function that way, or if it was a result of ToT.

From a more practical standpoint, it was very difficult on a Saturday afternoon to get a full league of 35+ WITH the Member of Vanguard badge. In fact, I think we started with just 5 of the 6 teams filled, after lengthy recruiting. While we could easily identify players that did not fit the LEVEL requirement, there wasn't an easy way to figure out who didn't meet the BADGE requirement. It would be wonderful if every player who signed up read and understood the requirements in advance, but alas, twas not the case.

The overall sentiment I heard from the group was "Why go to the trouble versus just running it regularly?" Most people seemed to understand the intent of doing the trial this way, but questioned whether it was worth the extra effort.

During the regular raid, we noticed Priests involved and do not believe they had been included before. The timer appeared in the Nav bar at some point, and sometimes would disappear. Time was still manually tracked by some players, and did seem to align with a 34 minute raid as indicated by the timer in the Nav bar. Overall, I think the sense was that the raid was harder due to the presence of the priests, but not overly so. Of course, at that point, we were primarily running with a 35+ team, compared to a normally recruited team that probably would have included lower levels.

Personally, I do not see myself leading a raid via LFG. The LFG system itself seems somewhat unreliable, and it would be more difficult to recruit a league given the extra requirements. While there might be additional benefits in terms of vMerits getting shared evenly among the entire league, and possibly higher rewards overall given the higher level of the NPCs, having to work harder to recruit and rely on the LFG system to work correctly outweighs that. Even if LFG worked perfectly, the additional recruiting needed would make me less inclined to lead one via LFG. Either way we have the timer, which is welcome. I also recognize that overall recruiting may be challenging at this point given the additional Halloween events going on. Lots of people are choosing to ToT.

I would really rather see the zone cap for RWZ raised to perhaps 60 - or perhaps a contact at PDH who can create a new instance of RWZ on demand from someone who intends to run a raid, if that's a possibility.

None of these comments are meant to imply in any way that I do not appreciate anyones work on this at all. I very much appreciate each day I get to play CoH, and I appreciate everyone who is investing time in improving it.

  3. Just curious if any of the US based servers don't feel like they have enough people running MSRs? I enjoy running them, but it's increasingly crowded on my home server. I was considering transferring one of my other 50s to another server to lead MSRs if there is a need.

    Rikti Mothership Raid

    • The Rikti Mothership raid can now be started from the LFG queue. Characters must be level 35 and have the Member of Vanguard badge to join the raid in this way.
      • If the league is not locked, a minimum of 16 players is required to start the raid this way.
      • All enemies inside the mission map are level 54, including the ones that are lower level in the zone. All players are bumped to combat level 50 for the duration of the raid.

If I understand this correctly - I can lead raids as I have in the past (any levels, etc), so long as I am willing to deal with the zone cap - OR - I can run it through LFG in which case the above rules apply, correct?

  5. I frequently run MSRs. I've found that sometimes I am unable to invite someone to the league, even if they are literally standing in front of me, but one of my Team Leaders can.

I consistently get this error with one player in particular, and we've wondered if it is an alignment issue. My character is a Vigilante, while his is a Villain.

I will try to capture the exact error next time I form a league and can see it, but it's something along the line of "can't create a co-op team unless all characters are on the same map." Anyone else forming leagues have this issue? I searched and didn't immediately see another thread started on this.

EDIT: The error reads " Could not Invite {Player}, You cannot make a co-op team unless all teammates are on the same map." {Player} can be standing directly in front of me. Seems like most are Rogues, but I also had it happen with a Villain.

For someone that asked: The trial automatically loads you into the Vanguard compound at Point du Hoc, and there is a hospital bed there.  Should you die and can't get a rez, going to the hospital will take you to the Vanguard compound at Point du Hoc.

That was me - thanks for confirming! Also sounds like people gathered in Pocket D for the raid, so that answered another of my questions. I'm still not really clear what zones have higher zone caps than RWZ, but so long as there is at least 1 that everyone can get to, we're golden.

I tried to make it for the raid but just couldn't make it work with RL. Plus, for me, the Beta server is VERY choppy for some reason. Not sure I could have effectively participated anyway.

So the comments I am left with, without actually having tried it on the beta server, are:

    • I would rather all levels be able to participate in the raid. Let league leaders deal with that.
    • I'd like the Nav bar to show how much time is left. I'm not enjoying the mystery aspect now of how long the raid will be.

That's it! Looking forward to this going onto the live servers. Thanks again to everyone who does anything to keep these servers going and improve them!

People seriously need to go run the trial before posting suggestions that are already implemented and asking questions whose answers are obvious 30 seconds inside the map. I rushed as much as possible to get this patched in so people would playtest it, precisely because I don't like blind feedback based on a text proposal.

Not sure if that is meant as a direct response to my post or just everyone in this thread, but just wanted to say that I do appreciate all the work that you and everyone do for Homecoming. We have the game back, and everything else is gravy. Period. Full stop.

I don't have a lot of time to play as-is, and to split any portion of that time off into going into a test server and setting everything up there is hard for me to justify. But, I will make every effort to try to do that this weekend and give more feedback.

    Tasks

    • The Rikti Mothership raid can now be started from the LFG queue. This is a very rough version that I spent all of yesterday putting together, and it has issues. It is not final. To make testing easier, all characters on Pineapple will receive the Member of Vanguard badge on login.
    • How it works:
      • Queue like any normal trial. It requires you to be level 35 or higher and have the Member of Vanguard badge.
      • For testing purposes the trial will start with 8 players, and has a maximum of 48. The mimimum players can be tweaked as requested.
      • All enemies inside the mission map are level 54, including the ones that are lower level in the zone. This is normal and expected.
      • The Patrol Ship will always spawn on the first pylon that is destroyed, rather than a 15% chance per pylon. Subject to feedback.
      • Once the time on the ship is over, the shield will not come back up. The trial ends with the shield still down and no enemies on the dish.
    • Known issues:
      • The trial is listed as "LFG_Mission_RiktiPylonMission" in the LFG queue.
      • There are no navigation beacons in the mission map. This means that all enemies (and pets) will stay where they spawned.
      • There's no minimap.

I lead MSRs whenever I can. I like the idea of running it through LFG. I would much rather see 2 full MSRs going on at the same time than 1 oversized one.

I'm not a fan of the level 35 and Member of Vanguard badge requirement. I understand both sides of the argument, but if people are going to PL (and you know they will) I would rather they PL in an MSR than AE. Personal preference. I'd prefer it to be left open.

I'm concerned with the ending of the trial... or non-ending, as it were. Personally would like to see a countdown in the Nav bar or something so we all know how much time is remaining.

I like the patrol ship idea spawning on the first pylon.

    Would prefer the minimap.

Can we put a hospital at Point du Hoc so people go there after dying? Honestly the main reason I would want the minimap is so I can proactively TP people back from the current hospital. If the hospital were at Point du Hoc I don't think I'd even bother looking for people coming back from the current hospital.

So, if you LFG for something like the blockbuster event, everyone needs to be in the same zone. Are we looking at teams having to form somewhere with a higher zone cap (I honestly don't know if there are higher zone caps out there or not) if you want to have a full league?

More than anything else - anything:

    A guarantee of permanence.

I cannot express to you what a blow it was to me when the game went away, particularly so suddenly.  I am glad that for most of you I don't need to.

That, however, is truly what I find that I wish for most deeply here:  freedom from the fear of losing my investment of time and heart, freedom to invest my creativity and ideas and soul and share it all without it vanishing without a trace.

    Permanence.

...and thank you very much for asking -- sincerely.

    What he said.

    and more Epic power pools.

    but mostly what he said.

    p.s. BAFs suck

p.p.s. In the time it takes to recruit a BAF you can run 1 or 2 of these

I enjoy running, or participating in, BAFs, but you are absolutely correct with regards to the time involved. A BAF does have the benefit of getting you Incarnate XP, threads, inf, etc. on top of the Salvage Roll.

Personally, I’d participate in Rikti mothership raids, which get you everything except the Salvage Roll. Those run pretty regularly and the rewards a pretty good. Then, do this trick to get your components.

  11. I appreciate the fact that GMs can make an announcement that shows up in every chat window, however that does tend to scroll off. Recently ran a MSR where no vmerits we’re getting awarded and the GM came into the zone to announce they were aware of the issue. But, as happens, his message scrolled up and then people who missed it started asking the very question the GM had just answered.

Just made me think it it would be nice to have a banner “breaking news” scrolling alert that we could position where we want on the screen, that GMs could then send messages into,

  12. I don’t miss any and all expenses associated with having a base.

Also, with the new enterbasefrompasscode command, I don’t miss having to hunt down a base portal or use a power to get there. Now, navigating the game is much easier - just build a small base with portals to everywhere, or use someone else’s base code.

I dont miss the constant calls in broadcast or LFG for RMT. But I’m afraid that’s coming.

I dont miss having to wait to wait a long time for a fix, because now we have some very smart people who can just make it happen. I believe on Live if we discovered an update stopped awarding merits, at best we would have had to live with it for a couple days. These pros were not constrained to a system and could patch it pretty much instantly.

After a hopefully positive agreement with NCSoft, I’m really excited to see where this can go. Lots of great people working on it, and once we can really start crowdsourcing some stuff I think we’ll all be amazed.

  13. I get that pets will die, but they are a renewable resource. 😀

What I’m not sure about is pulling Rikti into the bowl. One thought was to maybe alternate characters running out, using Judgement, then running back to the bowl - basically using AoE attacks as taunts. Any other ideas?

You know, then just the simple consideration of what happens to the server if we have 48 characters, each with 6 pets, plus a reasonable number of Lore and other pets and a dash of Gang Wars?

  14. Does anyone else have trouble getting the sale amount history in the auction house to show up?

Whenever I post an item, or look for an item, it usually says "No History Available". If I click in the sale/bidding amount area, then click in the history area, then again in the sale/bidding amount area it MIGHT show me the history (if I'm selling an item this almost always works, if I am browsing items it almost never works). Sometimes switching between items will work, too.

Is there anything I need to do on my end to fix this?

With the proper dialogue choices, you don't have to fight the Tsoo Hau Tov in the third mission.

I’ve found that if you kill Hau, then at the very end allow Sigil and Kadabra to die, you get an easier fight against a Ravager and a couple of wimps. But you get to the fight quicker if you select neither will die today. So if you’re not finishing as fast as you like maybe try that.

But, yes, you can skip Hua but I think that changes the last fight.

  16. When you left click on a player name in a chat window, you get a popup with several options like sending them a message, inviting them to team, etc.

I would REALLY love for this menu to include Target. Thinking of league play where someone is asking for a TP, or rez, or whatever, and trying to find their player name among the 48 names in 2 point font in the league window. Then you could click on the player name, select Target, then do whatever you need to do.

Is this a popmenu in a pigg file somewhere that can be edited and placed in the data folder somehow?

  17. The salvage racks in my base have only very small, clickable areas - consistent across all the racks. I normally have to aim for the bottom shelf, to the right of whatever is on that shelf, in order for the cursor to turn into a blue hand so I can actually pull up the contents.

Similar thing with some "mission doors" - specifically the redside "jump in the copter" kind of door where you actually need to click on a space at the bottom of the ladder. Not only is the area very small for me, but I have to be at just the right angle. It is usually very challenging for me to enter those missions.

I recently upped my pointer size to 150%, but that doesn't seem to affect this at all. I have the same issue across all of my characters, and I don't really have a second machine available to compare.

Is there a setting someone to fix something like this? Any ideas appreciated.

  18. Thanks for the (often friendly) options. I did try FRAPS but it didn't work for me, for whatever reason. OBS worked perfectly.

I seem to remember using FRAPS back before the game was shutdown, though, so not sure why it doesn't work for me now.
