  1. Are you sure you want to do that? I can't verify that any of this is true, but if it is then there are certainly some shady dealings going on at 2K Games: I'm not a Borderlands fan, but if I were, I would be looking into this further before supporting this company. Engaging in bullying and intimidation tactics to cover their own mistake is despicable.
  2. EA shut down E&B because they never wanted to run it. As part of their acquisition of Westwood, EA was contractually obligated to run and support E&B for two years. During that time, they provided only token support, and as soon as the two years were up, down the servers came. E&B could have been so much more, but this was in the early days of MMOs (pre-WoW), and EA failed to see the potential in a game like this. All they wanted from Westwood was that sweet C&C IP license (and look how that turned out), and they never had any intention of supporting a new and untested IP beyond the requirements of their contract. Fortunately, there is an E&B emulator up and running. While the game was amazing in its day, some aspects don't hold up quite as well, but it's still a great nostalgia trip.
  3. I don't think that's what IT meant by "server space is very tight."
  4. This is why I try to make sure I have all of my body modification costumes figured out before level 10. Free costume changes FTW!
  5. Make sure it's the surgeon. There are a few people in each Icon that can do costume changes, but only the surgeon can adjust height. Once you talk to the surgeon and open the costume window, you can change height on the "Body" tab.
  6. This is what really has me curious. According to Paragon Wiki, it should still be there, which makes me think it must be an i24 or i25 change. If i24, then the devs must have had some future plan for the space (hence the construction site now in its place). But that purpose will probably never be known, let alone come to fruition, so maybe we could get it put back? If i25, I'd think the HC team would have said something about it, or there would be something in the patch notes, forum, etc. explaining the absence. As it is, I can't find any reference to the change anywhere, and that is the most perplexing part of the whole thing. It's just gone, without any explanation or justification for its absence.
  7. In case anyone is curious, the whole dance sequence used: 21 bind files to run the spoken lines (Vincent Price's part at the end of Thriller), costume change, and other emotes 7 macros (mostly for pet emotes that wouldn't execute properly through key binds) 1 Logitech gaming keyboard with macro keys to control the sequence and timing of everything And yes, The Evil Thriller is available for parties, SG base openings, and graveyard hauntings.
  8. /emote GROAN!
  9. So what happened to the Talos Island Arena? There's just a construction site where it's supposed to be now. I couldn't care less about PvP, but this means the only place to go blueside for the Duelist Day Job badge is in a lvl 40-50 zone. That's a real pain for lower level characters in need of an End boost!
  10. Sounds like a case of "Speed-Level Syndrome" Here's the cure: Roll a new character Play through the tutorial (preferably "Outbreak" or "Breakout", depending on Hero or Villain, for the full learning experience), and be sure to actually read what your contacts tell you Play through your contacts' mission arcs, then as you level move on to new contacts and do the same Consult Paragon Wiki as needed: https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/ Consult the Guides section of the forum: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/44-guides/ The "Guide Index" in particular can be helpful: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/5517-guide-index/?tab=comments#comment-48115 When those fail, consult the in-game "Help" channel or post on the forums Join a supergroup earlier rather than waiting until the end; it's much easier for others to help you learn how to play at level 10 than it is to help you learn a level 50 DO NOT do speed-leveling activities, such as DFB, DIB, AE farming, Power Leveling, etc. Avoid these like a recovering alcoholic avoids alcohol. Once you have a dozen or so characters at a significant level, and don't want to run the Hollows for the eighth time in a row, then consider using some of these activities. Until then, level the normal way, play the game, and learn the game. Seriously, I do not say this to be flippant or insulting; it's really the most helpful I can be for someone in your situation. If you blaze your way through the early content and rush to the endgame, you are doing yourself a disservice and missing a LOT of what this game has to offer. If you do this all the way to 50 and then expect other players, either via a supergroup or otherwise, to then teach you how to play, you are doing them a disservice. If a supergroup recruits a level 50, they want you to be an asset, not a liability. The game is structured in a way that you gain power gradually so that you can learn each new thing one step at a time. Each AT plays differently, and even different power sets within an AT will play differently, and so require this learning process before you can use them properly. Rushing to 50 when you have no other experience defeats that purpose. So play the game from the ground up, and learn how to play as you go so that when you do get to 50 you actually have a clue how to play your character.
  11. Woohoo! Now to get that 10th costume slot, times... wait, how many alts do I have? I'm going to be busy in October....
  12. Does double-take If statistically there is no problem with the outcome of the RNG, what other sort of response do you actually expect?!? Seriously, If the collective data shows anything resembling a true random distribution, what other possible conclusion should we draw other than that there is no problem with the RNG? Are you really expecting someone to say, "The results all show that everything is working as it should, so we assume there's a serious problem"? As has been explained before, code is not verified or validated by reading the code, but by testing the outcomes and matching the results to what is expected. This is exactly what a statistical analysis is to an RNG; it's verifying the accuracy of the outcome. You've got your teeth sunk so far into this that at this point I expect that even if someone did as you asked, and did a full deep-dive of the code and explained it to you line by line how the RNG worked, and it was the purest and most true RNG possible for a computer to simulate, you would still doubt the conclusion. I don't see any way that you are going to be satisfied with any answer other than hearing that the RNG is hopelessly broken. All due respect to your experience, it clearly has taught you very little about statistics or computer code. I have military experience under my belt as well, and one of the things I learned was that one mark of a good officer was knowing the limitations of your own knowledge and recognizing when you needed to yield to the experts. I'm also an engineer, and I know enough to tell you that in this case, what your training and experience is telling you is wrong. You've heard the experts speak; are you willing to listen? Let me try one analogy that might explain the disconnect here. If you were presented with a new type of scope that was supposed to provide accurate aim at extended range, how would you verify that it worked as intended? Would you disassemble the scope and analyze the lens size, shape, composition, etc.? Or would you put the scope on a weapon, take it down to the range and test fire it, and compare it to other equipment for accuracy? In this case, what you are asking for (an examination of the code) is the equivalent of disassembling the scope and inspecting its components. Statistical analysis of RNG results is the equivalent of field testing the scope. Which do you think gives a more accurate assessment of performance?
  13. I can't say that I'm planning to check it out. Now if they came out with a WotLK server, I'd be over there in a heartbeat, but rest assured that I would still dedicate a significant portion of my gaming time to CoH. Over the years I've played many MMOs; and while others changed, CoH was always the constant. I suppose you could call it my "Persistent Persistent World."
  14. In character creation, I know of two ways to add "The" at the beginning of a name: On the final (Register) tab of character creation, select "The" from the drop down prefix menu (at this time, the only options are "The" or nothing, represented by "...") Or, as you type your name, include "The" at the beginning. It will automatically be removed from the name itself, and the prefix "The" will be activated just as if you had chosen on the Register tab However, I have not found a way to either add or remove "The" when renaming a preexisting character. Typing "The" as part of the name only gets the name rejected as invalid, and there is no way I know of to access the drop down prefix menu. On the flip side, if a character already has "The" as a prefix for their name, and you rename the character, there does not seem to be any way to remove this prefix. I've also checked the in-game ID screen, and there is no way to change the prefix from this either. I feel like I'm missing something obvious; like there should be an easy way of handling this. Is there something I'm not seeing, or are characters really stuck with/without this prefix regardless of renames?
  15. Identification = Not an Engineer I don't mean to be insulting, but statistical evaluation is exactly how you determine whether an RNG is functioning properly.
  16. I think this thread is the perfect example of why we need an Off Topic forum. As interesting as all of these accomplishments and activities are, the justification for a connection to CoH is tenuous at best. Posts of baby pictures, academic degrees, home improvement projects, other games played, etc., all need a proper home in Off Topic, rather than (CoH) General Discussion (subtitle: "City of Heroes related General Discussion").
  17. You could always do Bumblebee's intoxicated cousin, Stumblebee.
  18. No problem. Also, there's fedoras and similar options under hats.
  19. Check the options under jackets; several different suit coats, some with pinstripe options. Also under pants, slacks or khakis could work.
  20. Ok, so "working as intended" then; thanks for the info. Hmm; how exactly do you do this? Every guide and document I've found on macros tells how to write a macro, but aside from clicking on the button I haven't found any ay of calling a macro. Is there a slash command for this function I'm missing, or do you just have to set a command to trigger the button from the power tray slot?
  21. I was trying out some things with pet emotes today, and I ran into a little issue: I can't get pet emotes to work as part of a bind or bind file. They work when typed directly into the chat bar (e.g., petsay_all <em dance>), or as part of a macro. But when I include them in a bind or a bind file, the pet will just say the text of the emote command rather than executing the emote (e.g., for the previous syntax used in a bind, the pet would literally say "<em dance>"). Is this normal behavior for pet emotes, or am I doing something wrong?
  22. While running a mission today, I noticed that the objective marker was placed on door 3. So this could be another reason door 3 is often chosen; if you're following the arrow on your compass, it may steer you towards door 3, and you may follow it directly to that door without really considering why.
  23. 3 2 would do just as well, but always pick the rear elevators to avoid aggro on exit.
