This, a thousand times. For many reasons, I would love it if IO sets were simply removed from the game. It will never happen, but I think it would solve a lot of problems.

I can only speak for myself, but I'll chime in and say that I personally HATE planning out builds. Planning builds means wasting all kinds of time researching the forums, crunching numbers in Mid's, sometimes even creating the build on the test server to try it out. All of that is incredibly tedious and painful work to me, and it's time I would much rather be spending just playing the game. I do it because I feel that if I don't, I'm lagging behind and pulling teams down. One of the things that originally drew me to CoH back during live was the game's simplicity, but it lost a lot of that with the introduction of IO sets, and it took a step towards being more like other MMOs where you have to find and grind for the perfect combination of gear to be effective. Unfortunately I think that particular genie is out of the bottle, as I don't expect anyone would agree to removing IO sets entirely, but I long for the days when such detailed build planning was unnecessary to be able to play the game at comparable power levels to everyone else. Again, this is just one player's opinion, but I would wholeheartedly cheer any change that reduced the need for complex build planning and just let us get back to playing the game.

No. No, no, no. No thank you! Some of us actually like playing with other people in an MMO; reducing team size limits that. It's bad enough sometimes doing SG events and only being able to include eight people at a time. Four would be horrendous. Next time, please do not presume to speak for "people;" speak only for yourself.

everlasting [City of Roleplay] Recruitment Fair & Comic Celebration!
Blackbird71 replied to Ruin Mage's topic in Everlasting
Another thought: the costume contest was certainly a fun addition to the event, but it basically decimated the recruiting as people left the plaza for the contest. Things went from full swing to nearly empty pretty fast. If a contest is included with the next one, I'd suggest putting it later than 2 hours after the event start, as there appeared to be easily enough interest in the fair to keep going another hour or more at the time the contest broke things up. -
everlasting [City of Roleplay] Recruitment Fair & Comic Celebration!

Thanks for putting on a great event! Chat was a bit chaotic, but it was good to get to know some of the other RP groups out there. A note on the chat scroll: what our SG found to be useful was to form a League, and then invite individuals who were interested in chatting with our group. We put League chat in a separate window. It wasn't a perfect solution, but it helped. -
That does help; thanks!

Does anyone have any decent Archery/Devices builds to share? In particular I'd prefer something that builds for Scorpion Shield out of Mace Mastery, but I'm open to other Epic/Patron options. Also, this would largely be for solo play, and not necessarily +4/x8 - my play style with this character leans more toward smaller groups. Anything is helpful though!

Introducing Naraka Prison (RP Setting for public use)
Blackbird71 replied to Denarii's topic in Everlasting
A friend's character spent time voluntarily imprisoned to prevent their powers from harming others, until such time as the powers could be controlled. Something like the chalet would be the perfect setting for a similar character. -
Does anyone have any build suggestions or general advice for a claws/invulnerability brute? I'm mainly curious about what powers in each line can be skipped, and which are must haves.

Why are keybinds for changing the power trays so popular?
Blackbird71 replied to Garble's topic in Peacebringer & Warshade
It's a conservation of keyboard commands for me. The pop-up tray exists as it's own tray separate from the other numbered trays. If you activate powers by clicking with the mouse, this may not be a problem. But if you use key commands, you would have to bind new keys for these powers. Instead, I have my different forms bound into commands that also change my bottom tray to the numbered tray which has the powers for that form. Then these powers are now activated by my 1-0 keys. Since changing forms makes other powers inaccessible anyway, there's no point in having these useful keys taken up bu unusable powers while in another form. Changing back to human form is also handled by a keybind that reverts the bottom tray back to tray 1. -
Is it possible to out-level the PB missions that you get from Sunstorm every five levels? Specifically, I have one of the level 40 missions that I picked up before I hit 45. My character is now 47. Can I drop this mission and retake it to set it to my current level, or will it be unavailable after I drop it because I'm now due for the level 45 missions?

What are the rules on the use of minions, emotes, and pet commands as part of a costume entry? Would such things be considered?

A month of perma-night? Getting depressed lol

I haven't noticed; does Praetoria get the event as well, or is it still on a regular day/night cycle? -
Monsters, ghosts, and such are great as spooky or scary for kids. To scare adults, you really have to up your game. Come as an IRS agent!

(boldface/underline added for emphasis) I admit, I'm a bit confused by this one. Doesn't this violate the new CoC rules on copyrighted characters? Rather than just "encouraged," it would seem that parodies would be the only acceptable way to enter as one of these characters. It seems like players are being asked to walk a fine line between creativity and a rules violation, directly in front of the very people who would be required to enforce action on such a violation. As per CoC: On a different note: Any theme or other details on this? If there is a posting somewhere else, can you please link it? Thanks!

Why is it called Issue 26, Page 3...
Blackbird71 replied to JetMalakai's topic in General Discussion
Reactions need a "groan" option.... -
That's not how the costume files work. They store all the costume info, but no slot information. They are loaded through the tailor into whatever slot you are currently editing. If you can't access that slot in the tailor, you can't load the costume into that slot.

Bloody Rainbow Comic Con Fire Farm Update

My apologies; I felt it related directly to the topic of what happened to the Bloody Rainbow Comic Con Fire Farm, and it was intended as a response to this statement: If you still feel it is off topic, I will not pursue it further here.
