Oh, and to get back on topic, I didn't have anything as life changing as more children or a new house, our family life stayed very much the same. I did lose my job a couple of times and was unemployed for a time, but I managed to get back into work and am happy where I work so that's good. I played a LOT of games, tried a few MMO's but could never get into them like I did this game, the community sucked in all of them (especially WoW, my gods that place is toxic!) and a lot of offline single player games like Skyrim, the Witcher series, sooooooooooo much Civilzation 5 and 6 it's ridiculous 😄 I also got back into something I loved when I was younger, baking, with a particular love of doing birthday cakes for people, including a fair few geek based ones like these 🙂 Points to anyone who recognises the last one especially 😉

Could not agree more and I still can't understand why there isn't one when there was on the original forums? As long as we have the simple rules of no politics and religion discussion (as they ALWAYS descend into arguments and nastiness) I can't see why not? And I know people have said that there are plenty of other forums out there to discuss comic books etc, yeah, there are, but I like this group of people as everyone here tends to get on well enough and the old forums OT forums was one of my favourite places on the internet to discuss geek stuff! I really miss that old forum 😞

Well, I'm an crazy energy blaster, yes, and yes, I'm getting older, but no, I've never been bald 😄

I like it! Now, how about the damn off-topic forum so we can talk about things like Comic Con news! I need like minded people who aren't all insane to talk about Marvel movies, Star Trek and Doctor Who! :D

Something to add to this as I've been working through them, the levels are slightly wrong. It should be Lvl 1-15 Lvl 16-19 I did a mission through Ouroboros, it changed my level to lvl 15 and I did the run wiht no travel powers etc, got no badge for it. Did one at the same range and it changed me to lvl 19, did the travel power thing, got the badge. Also, some of the lvl ranges have been changed for some of the missions, the Yin mission called I Lost My Daddy is now under the 20-24 range, so I'm not sure what is the best one to run on hero side for 16-19 range, still working my way through them. None of the are any good for the travel powers yet though :(

So I use the Paragon Wiki....a LOT. But it's out of date on a lot of stuff. The majority of it is fine, especially mission stuff, contacts etc, but there's a lot that is wrong now due to updates, such as badges, locations, new zone etc. I was wondering, if someone were to set up a new wiki just for the Homecoming servers, is it bad form to cut and paste the relevant pages from the original wiki and then edit the stuff that needs changing? I know the original wiki is staying as is and I agree with that, if only for historical reasons, but ti's frustrating at times trying to find things out and we could do with a separate wiki for this set of servers. So, would it be wrong to copy the original or is that considered as bad as plagiarism?

Resurrecting a legend.....The return of TurtleMan!
Coin replied to Coin's topic in General Discussion
meh, too late, already took them. I had to do it. With one slow attack, I really did feel like I was dead weight most of the time, at least now I can at least add a couple of attacks in there without levelling up :) -

That isn't a challenge because there is no team you will be useful on. There's two real options here: 1) Call it a 'challenge' - which means probably leveling solo. There's no challenge to getting carried by groups who will be doing all the work for you and basically farming exp for you. 2) Group up to level, in which case it isn't' a challenge, so much as just a funny concept. I dunno, I still felt useful in the team earlier, even it was somewhat slower than normal, I still managed to do some damage so I was contributing rather than door sitting and sucking up free XP. If I wanted to do that, I'd just PL to 50 but that's not what I want. -
For Coin, it was always John Cusack. Not as sure now, 15 years on, he might be getting a little old for the role :)

Resurrecting a legend.....The return of TurtleMan!
Coin replied to Coin's topic in General Discussion
So, just ran my first DFB with him, went well, no deaths, but I'm definitely going to take the P2W attacks, just because with only one attack, I'm literally stood around half the time waiting for my only attack to recharge! :D Also many thanks to Healer Grey Dinwoodie Lil Bic Thunder Lord Solar - Flare Blast Cannon Tricobalt For helping me out in my first ever team up on the journey :) -
Resurrecting a legend.....The return of TurtleMan!

Yeah, 15-20 should be easy enough in DFB, but I'm not going to be going anywhere near the AE for PL or farming. Where's the fun in that? :D -
Resurrecting a legend.....The return of TurtleMan!
Coin replied to Coin's topic in General Discussion
Well, this is why it's a challenge. Not so much the levelling, more the fun of trying to find a team I can still be useful on :D -
Well, ok, a legend in his own mind anyway ;) I'm going to try again on a concept I had back on live that I never really got chance to do much with as I only started him a month or two before the close down. I created a character called TurtleMan as a challenge to myself, basically that of getting him to lvl 50....without ever actually levelling up! This means no visiting a trainer ever, no access to TF's and the like, no extensive defenses or even just access to more than 3 inspirations! The challenge was to see how I could get him up to 50 with just the basic powers you get as a level 1. He's a Shield/Mace tanker so he just has a shield and his trusty mace....well, it's a manhole cover and a shovel, but hey, give him points for trying at least. :D I've decided to allow him to access the P2W for the basic things like Reveal and the base buffs, plus the inspirations . I'm still deciding if I should allow things like Sand's of Mu, Nemesis Staff etc and also the buff pets and I'd like peoples opinions on if they should be allowed. My main worry is how much use he would be to a team without them! I will allow things i can buy with influence though, especially anything that lets me travel around faster so I don't slow down teams too much So, if you see a tiny little green fellow with a shovel and a manhole cover, feel free to drop him an invite to your team, he's very keen to help his fellow heroes in the struggle.....FOR JUSTICE! ;)

I've been asking for the return of the old Off Topic/Comic Culture forum since the game came back, never had a response :( Was always my favourite area of the Live forums as well.

Excellent! Make sure to spread the word to your badge hunting friends, we need lots more people in the channel :)
-
Yes it is, cross server, means anyone can get advice and help that way
-
After asking in the badge forum, it appears there is no channel for us badge whor.....erm, badge hunters out there. So, I decided to create one. :) The name of the channel, in honour of the legend, is Sal's Badgehunters and it's open to everyone to discuss badges, organise teams to get badges, get help with a specific badge, how to get them fast or authentically, everything you need, if you haven't already asked in the relevant forum :) Feel free to join up, all! :)
-
Well, it appears there are no badge channels, or if there is no one is answering, so I created my own that is open to everyone for now :) The name? Well, in honour of the legend, I called it Sal's Badgehunters :) Feel free to join and talk all aspects of badges :)

Completely agree and understand. I've played an En/En blaster since day one on Live, it's been my main for all these years and I know how to play it well, I think. What I didn't like was this tank actually telling me to avoid using knockback, especially Nova.....on an En/En blaster! I pointed out that ALL my attacks did it and there wasn't a lot I could about that. They then proceeded to tell me what things to slot in it and how to play it. And then, when I could see they weren't going to shut up about and I quietly left, they then had a pop at me in tells! :D I don't mind constructive criticism, I welcome it, that's how I became a decent energy blaster. What I don't like is being told how to play my 15 yr old build :)
-
I've started to notice something similar, an alarming trend of players, especially tankers/brutes/scrappers et al, to complain and comment on knockback powers and how players should be more careful when they use it.....like we have much of a choice! I've personally had it happen to me, a tanker complaining about knockback when I'm on my EN/EN blaster and I fire off a Nova. I get it, it spreads the bad guys, but usually, when I Nova the vast majority of the enemies are wiped out and only a couple of the higher ones survive so it's not too hard to mop them up. Said player also started telling me about how I could get enhancements that would turn it in to knockdown. Yeah, I know, I plan on getting it when I'm a. a high enough level and b. when I have the inf/merits to get them! Plus, I think it only works in one power anyway! They whinged about it so much I politely made my apologies and quietly left them team, only for them to berate me in tells, claiming I'd thrown a hissy fit :D until I blocked them. I would have put this down to bad luck but I've seen it on other teams at least three other times now, usually on players who are playing their characters perfectly fine. Since when did it become ok to tell other players how to play their own toons? I've never once told a tank they should have taken taunt or complained at an archery defender that they don't have a heal, so why complain at a blaster for something built into their powers??

Is there a good badge channel out there for Torchbearer at all? I know the TF channel sometimes talks badges but I was looking for one specific to badges that will let people help with hunts, MO runs, badge missions etc.

Just to add to this excellent guide, I found a VERY fast villain mission in the 1-14 range, Operative Kuzmin - Underdogs Never Win Part 1 - kill 5 longbow on the street, all grey so done in a second, all very close to the contact Part 2 - Interrogate Longbow Prisoner - again, close to the contact, simple talk to mission, done in seconds, especially if you chose the last option for the conversation Part 3 - Find 3 codes from Longbow Technicians, once again, close to contact, kill 3 pairs of longbow for the code keys Part 4 - Arm 3 more bombs - Once again, close to contact, 3 glowies to click, all the nearby longbow are grey so don't affect you, all glowies close to each other so done in seconds. Part 5 - Destroy Longbow's Base in Mercy - Only actual door mission in the arc, very close by, always same door, kill a couple longbow to get the costume, run past everyone to the final room, listen to longbow conversation, click glowie, kill two lieutenants and then defeat ambush. The last battle against the 2 lieutenants is the only slightly tricky parts, especially when debuffed or no enhancement, but the whole arc takes just a few minutes, maybe 5 minutes with no travel powers, is very fast and also works great for the time and no deaths mission as well. Got all of the badges in about 15 minutes earlier :)

Time for a few from the EU, methinks Starting with Bridger, the early forum moderator and community manager for the original EU forums, he was awesome and actually used his spare time to organise a fantastic PVP tournament! Then there's players like Psygon, Extragonk and the Psy-sisters, the originators of the old Sheepies SG, my first SG and excellent people, all of them. Not to mention the always lovely Mazos, one of my first close friends in the game! Miss all of them and would love to see them back here. Then there are players like Snow, of the Femme Fatales, one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet in game. And nutcases like the PVP expert Xanthus, and the always bat-shit crazy, Tainted Greek! Man, he was a crazy loon :) Finally, a couple of people who have passed away in RL, the wonderful Ruby Dragon and the brilliantly funny Mighty Saguaro. Mighty passed while the game was still live and there was a memorial for him in game, hundreds turned out for it, it was amazing. Sadly, Ruby, Marianne to her friends, died a few months ago after far too many illnesses to mention and she will be missed by everyone who knew her. I'm sure I'm forgetting people, though, which shows how many people you meet in this game :) Oh, and one I'm not sure if we should mention as they might reappear, like Candyman......Golden Girl! :D

Aerie!! Now there's a name I remember well, always an angel!! And man, do I remember Tainted Greek! He was all kinds of nuts :D
