OK so super late to the party here but... I never played storm much on Live (which is weird considering the coalition I ran with had an all storm supergroup).

Omg it's so good. Even just using freezing rain every spawn I feel like I'm making a huge contribution. Of course we all know how good Bonfire is slotted for KD, and I just hit level 26 and slotted it.

It's total lock down for every spawn we come across.

It also happens to be an amazing farmer. I've been running -1/8 since like level 8 (right after my first DFB) and it's great. Now that I have Bonfire I'm melting spawns and they can't touch me. Cannot wait for tornado.

Any unique slotting options I can take advantage of?

Awesome! I believe I posted this suggestion for it's wonderful synergy! You can also take advantage of thunder clap and combine this with flashfire so that it can even stun bosses. It also grants great immobs that protect against enemies running away from you and because of storm it offers excellent damage. I hope you enjoy this!

I also like to put devastation in Lightning Storm complete with the chance to hold.

Chance to immob in flashfire.

Chance to hold in Fire Cages.

And many more depending on build specifics.

It is a really nice combo.

Force Feedback: Chance for +Recharge in Tornado and Bonfire. -KB proc in both Tornado and Lightning Storm.

Fire/Storm is indeed very strong, and has only gotten better in the late issues of the game.

I'm glad I looked here tonight. I've been leveling my first controller in years and it's Fire/Storm.  My worry has been three things: 1) will I have endurance issues and how to solve them, 2) which defense to build for since I will be up close with hot feet, and 3) if I'm running toggles galore to get my def up, back to worry 1.

Any suggestions on how to do this lovely combo without being end hungry and super squishy?

Posted

You will have endurance issues - depending on build and how many toggles you add (like all 3 leadership) it can get pretty bad. At 50 with the Alpha Slot things get much better.

You'll want 3 end redux in hotfeet. Once you get Imps you can turn it off a lot when not in use till 50/Alpha.

Slot a lot of end redux till 50, in everything - once you have your alpha resec and remove some of them - not all.

Fire Cages - if you use it - is a huge end pig with its fast recharge it can drain you with some toggles running.

Personally I'm not going to waste sets on going for any type of defense. Freezing plus Bonfire plus tornado (both with -kb slotted) is an enormous amount of mitigation. And that's before flashfire + thunderclap. Just go crazy with recharge so you can have these abilities up all the time.

Any builds lying around to give people an idea of where to start? as I too am way late to this synergy however going in blind seems rather daunting. Very appreciative of the advice already given above 🙂

Well, here is the build I have cobbled together to fit my own play style.  It definitely isn't for everyone.  As a typically ranged AT player, I decided to build my guy for ranged DEF and therefore dropped Hot Feet entirely.  I also skipped Cinders, both for that reason and because I wasn't impressed with it as I was leveling (I am still leveling, only at lvl 31 as I write this.)  I have had very few low endurance concerns so far, with the attuned sets I have had from lvl 25 up to this level, and I spam Fire Cages, Flashfire, Freezing Rain and Bonfire whenever they're up.  I totally get what people are saying about not needing softcapped defense when your controls are all working, but I guess as a newbie controller and a former defender/blaster/Nova/Huntsman, ranged defense is hard to quit :)

Quickly cobbled this together, I'm missing 3 slots as I swapped out a power last minute and cant be bothered redoing the whole build (as it was at the 6th power selection). Also i'm using Pines and not Heroes Reborn (cant get it to work currently) so Sudden Acceleration should be assumed for Tornado and lightning storm over whats there currently...

I'm not tied to the ice power pool, just liked the idea of ice storm thematically.

Please those in the know give me some feedback. This combo seems quite slot hungry but i guess it's what you should be looking to build towards...I might be just as well be better off removing slots for more recharge than +def. Thoughts?
