Innovator Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 (edited) Something my sister-in-law used to do on CoH was use the run fly glitch, where you could run in the air, to be able to do a makeshift hoverdisk travel power. If a glitch can do that, I wonder if it's possible to just make a hoverdisk travel power, basically a flight power using the powerslide animations. (The name isn't very indicative of what it is, IMO.) It looks like an orange/peach version of the "Energy" shield that's one option for Shield Defense. Unfortunately, Void Skiff is not recolorable; nor is Prestige Slide, of course. I'd very much like it if both of them were. Edited November 24, 2019 by Megajoule 2

SeraphimKensai Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 If they patched those powers son we could use toggles and they didn't make us only effecting self, those powers would be amazing. Honestly if they had to keep the only effect self aspect, but made them so they didn't toggle drop us, that would be great as well. As they are though, only Squishies without toggles can get away with them (and in this day in age almost everyone runs fighting or leadership, so everyone is hampered). They are pretty cool powers that would be nice to actually use. 3

I don't think "fix" is the right word, as it's working as intended, it's a change I see no issue with balance wise, though I expect there are animation reasons for it. Mayhem It's my Oeuvre baby!

We were starting to look into that with powers like the flying carpet and hover board. We weren’t discussing additional flight poses, but I think vehicle ideas were being tossed around for our travel powers. I think Colin wanted to look into a motorcycle power. With the introduction of pool power customization we were also considering elemental skins (like Ice Flight and Electric Speed). A) I THINK the above answer was from Keetsie. We all wanted vehicles, but the animation system didn’t easily allow for it. Every animation had to be redone for every single ability in game. Ninja Run alone took Nelson Tam 3 full months of nonstop work to make. That’s why Rocket Board detoggled you. We estimated it would take about 9 months of dedicated animation and tech time to redo the animations system to allow you to use your powers while in a vehicle. Aside from that most vehicles wouldn’t fit inside a mission (imagine a car in the layer cake map), and the game didn’t really have a flag we could use to set vehicle powers to be usable only when you’re not in a mission. The COH engine was really really really really really broken. Which allowed the Dev team to do impossible things on a regular basis, but only if they were mostly impossible versus completely impossible. (Hosun) Topics: bts, proposed, under the hood Developers: keetsie?? hosun Not sure if anyone has figured out a shortcut since the servers went down, but if not I suspect new travel powers will either be "the same with new colors", animation neutral, or detoggle until the dev team expands a good deal. Which is unfortunate, didn't realize how much I wanted that air-step travel for some toons before seeing that scene.
