Hi guys,

I recently got a Thugs/Storm to level 38 but I find that the only powers that I enjoy pressing in /Storm are Gale, Freezing Rain and Steamy Mist. I found the rest of the powers that are considered "good" are in actually miserable in practice, Tornado and Lightning Storm (A.K.A The Disappointment Cloud).

So I remade it in /Cold since it has most of the powers I like minus Gale and a bunch of actually good powers. I don't feel compelled to skip half the set either (Only power I see that isn't very good is Frostwork). I really like how much sturdier my pets are with /Cold compared to /Storm. With the 4 MM auras equipped my pets are already at Defence soft cap and I'm not even level 30 yet

So here I am with my Thugs/Cold sitting at level 29 now, anyone got a build framework for this combo ?
Thanks !

I'm at work, but I will say that I got a thugs/cold to 50. All pets can easily be softcapped. I haven't played it since the update, so I'm sure it's even better now since all but the Bruiser will usually stay in ranged mode. I would command the Bruiser to "go to" the middle of the pack, and then unleash everything on the poor mob. Fun times.

Be sure to take hasten so you can get freezing rain and heat loss back as much as possible.

When I can, I'll get on mine and give my build.

Seigmoraig,

This is NOT my current build....similar, but not quite. I will probably respect into this build. It gives me perma hasten, adds about 35% Defense to pets (NOT counting their inherent Defense or the Maneuvers from the Enforcers....if you throw those in, the pets will be soft capped). Heat Loss every 104 seconds, Sleet every 18 seconds, and Benumb is like 3.5 seconds shy of being Perma. Between Infrigidate, Benumb, Weaken Resolve, Sleet, and Heat Loss, you're looking at over -59% Damage, -500% Regen,  -74% To Hit, completely floored Defense, -66% Resistance, and completely floored run/fly/jump speed on your target. Then throw in your Pet damage (and the few procs I put in them...Chance For Build Up, Chance for Resistance Debuff, and Chance for Neg Energy Damage), and with them already being at the Defense Soft Cap....you can see how safe, effective, and damaging Thugs/Cold can be.

 Above all else....just have fun.

This doesn’t change your experience with /Storm. But Thugs/Storm is the highest DPS you can get as an MM. Tornado and Lighting Storm are phenomenal. That being said, I would roll a Cold Dom MM if I didn’t have several Cold Dom Defenders/Corrs. Trying to branch out!😅

Edit:

As an MM I would highly reccomend taking Frostwork. I’d argue that it’s most valuable on an MM since your pets will benefit a lot from it.

I currently have Frostwork. I take turns applying it between the Bruiser and Arsonist. I've decided that they really dont need it....at least in my experience. The soft cap defenses are just that good.

 YMMV

I had read about how good the DPS is and I can see it... on a Pylon. Seriously though Lightning Storm in a "real" scenario that isn't hitting a Pylon for DPS is an awful power.
The dinky little cloud pops up over your head, can't even target it, and shoots a single lightning bolt every 10 seconds, How is that even remotely useful when it takes 20-30 secs to clear a pack of mob and you move on ?
Tornado is cool on paper too, until you see it running after that one minion that leaves the pack and aggros the next spawn.
Storm was a nice dream but it's not for me, at all

I have it right now on my MM, but I will be respecing out of it when I get higher up. I got it thinking it could serve as a backup heal but I realized that it doesn't even do that. It's just a +MaxHp buff.

Really like being being Cold though, it's a late bloomer set that's for sure, not that it sucks at lower levels, just that it's really passive at lower levels. Once you get there it's really fun though !

on my Demons/Cold I have Frostwork for 2 reasons: It's a very fast recharge, and a good boost to HP/Regen. I can pop it on all my pets over a routine and I slot it with Numinas boosting my own regen with very little cost

There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.

I changed up the build a bit because I wanted an EPP that had a shield toggle in it for more durability, I also ditched Weaken Resolve and Snow Storm in favor of going down in the Sorcery pool to get Rune for Protection for the status protection

here is what I came up with

Looks like you have 6 of the LotG:Global recharges, or I cant count. One of the 2. That 6th one you will not be getting any benefit from due to rule of 5. You need to drop one of them somewhere. Maybe in CJ and slot it with Resist Slow enhancement? Or in artic fog and pick up something else there?

Other than that, at first glance, it looks good! What level are you, and how are you enjoying it?

Ahh thanks for that ! I did not know that it was capped at 5  !

I guess I would just drop it from Scorpion Shield and get the 6 piece set bonus of Red Fortune. I'm at work right now so I'm not sure if those bonuses would be useful yet. Either that or drop the slot from Scorpion Shield to put it into Rune of Protection for another recharge IO

I'm sitting right now at level 35 I think, doing well although I haven't been playing that character much in the past 3 or 4 days, been rocking on my Crabby Soldier that I recently got to 50 doing ITF, Apex and Tin Mage to get those incarnate slots unlocked ! I will certainly be playing more of the MM though because it's a real fun combo and I'm just getting into the part when it opens up
