With my Elec/TW Tanker, I've noticed a consistent lag in power effect when I use a specific combination of powers. If I have Momentum and use Power Sink, then immediately use Whirling Smash, the animation for Power Sink plays, sucking in End from the mobs around me, then the animation for Whirling Smash plays... but nothing happens; I will be into the animation for my next attack before I hear the *smash* sound and see the mobs around me getting knocked down.

It doesn't skip the effects of Whirling Smash, just delays it for a second or so, and I can't see that it should make a significant survival difference even though I see mobs getting off attacks between the Whirling Smash animation completing and the knockdown effect occurring, so while it looks like a bug in the way the powers chain, I don't think it's serious enough to get priority.

I'm getting the same thing with Assassin's Staff. I have not been able to pinpoint how or why because it did not happen all of the time. However, I am also using a powerset that has a Power Sink effect called Energy Drain, which is pretty much exactly like Power Sink. I'm wondering if this similar effect is causing my delayed action to my attack as well. It animates like it is supposed to, but nothing happens until a second or two later...which is extremely odd. I chopped it up to server lag, but you may be on to something here.

Glad you made this thread. So it's not just me...and it would seem it's not just one power. Makes me wonder if any other powers are affected.

This bug is repeatable and I have made a video of it. I'll quote you and post it so it gets your attention. This bug seems to take place after any type of AoE siphon powers used that do not do damage but rather drains the enemy's endurance and transfers it to you.

Does this look like what you are experiencing with Whirling Smash?

Edit: I used Siphon every other attempt to attack. Used nothing in between the ones that I used siphon.

Now I'm going to have to go back and run the Power Sink/attack pair with other attacks; I've only noticed it with Whirling Smash, but that could simply be because without Momentum all the TW attacks have animations so long that they mask the delay -- if an AoE end drain puts a delay on a subsequent attack reaction, the slow animation may be running the delay out. With Build Momentum, my other attacks should chain fast enough afterPPower Sink to see if that's the case.

The only attack I noticed it affect was the Assassin's Staff. None of the other abilities seem affected...or at least that I have noticed.

It seems to be consistent across all of the TW attacks -- if I hit Power Sink, then attack, there's about a second between the completion of the attack animation and the effect on the mobs being attacked, whether it's a single-target or AoE attack.

I just tested the other abilities, for whatever reason it only affects Assassin's Staff. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact that your abilities and Assassin's staff share a similar mechanic? They both have a charge up period, and under circumstances can cast instantly. That seems to be the one thing that your attacks and Assassin's Staff share along with using the Siphon powers.

That may be the connection; using Power Sink, then the permatemp Sands of Mu from the P2W vendor applies damage immediately. Now all we need is why it happens that way.

I've been experiencing this issue with all sorts of ATs and powerset combos since around the holidays (x-mas).  I finally found the slash command which would show you the network traffic... (/net_graph 1) and there is a lot of packets loss it seems (red spikes).  My ping is sitting between 130 and 150 as well which is slightly high considering I don't think it was every that high during live and I was on cable internet back then, now I'm running gigabit fiber and I get over a gig on my uplo ad and between 700-900mbps generally down (other people on the LAN).  Issues are animation drops, attacks not registering, stuttering, lag and sound drops.  I thought it was just the holiday event and there just being a ton of people playing and it would resolve itself, but it really has not.

The problem we are seeing though, is that this is repeatable on command, per the video I posted. So this particular issue I don't think has anything to do with hi ping or packet loss. Otherwise the issue would be random. I can say for 100% fact this has nothing to do with internet connectivity or speeds or stability...which I know you didn't say that, but just wanted to back you up on it. If it were an issue with internet, I would know about it, since it has been my job to fix any internet issues for the past 13 years. I have the tools and the knowledge to detect it if it were.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on specifically, but I have noticed a lot of weirdness for the past couple months now and it was fine when I started playing last August.  I also doubt it's anything to do with Internet connectivity, but wanted to at least throw it out there.  I would imagine it's a combination of things and not just one thing outright.

EDIT:  While I was responding I was testing something.  I ran the 32-bit client and tooled around for a little bit watching the network monitor and then ran the 64-bit client and did the same.  There seems to be more packet loss from the 64-bit client which is interesting.  The only downside is that it's starting to get into prime time I think (7pm central where I'm at) so this could really not have anything to do with it.

So it looks like the packet loss issues were happening during prime time hours.  It does look like they cleared up quite a bit of delayed/missing animation issues with the recent patch too.

I have a Rad/TW tanker, and I see the delay on Whirling Smash without using Power Sink. I have assumed it was just an issue with Whirling Smash.
