Washuchan Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Just looking to see what are the pros and cons of a fire/dark/dark and fire/dark/soul in pve soloing and ae farming which includes fire farming and s/l farming set at 3/8 and 4/8 for farming on a team. Quick question how does the corruptor version with these powers stack up to the defender version with the same powers on both soul and dark
Darkir Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 A fire/dark Corr will be better all around compared to dark/fire defender when fully IO'd out. Both can achieve softcapped M/R def with very good resists and recharge. Fire is not a set with good proc opportunities and so the defender can't really use their extra slots (after softcapping in comparison to a Corr) for meaningful procs. The the corruptors gets more dmg out of fire while have the same -res in tar patch. Add to this that the corruptor also gets more out of soul drain due to the higher damage scale and it's easy to see why the corruptor is going to be better. The reason to go soul mastery is to get power boost, but /dark doesn't have any good boost able powers, so in the end it just ends up being defense buff for a few seconds that you won't need due to being at the softcap. You pay for power boost by getting a smaller radius soul drain on a longer cooldown. The only reason I can think that you would want to go fire/dark/soul over fire/dark/dark is for thematic reasons and then it'd be pretty specific. So, farming and soloing fire/dark/dark is the way to go. I enjoy mine immensely and I have builds for soloing and fire farming that I'll post for you later. The fire farmer is incredibly expensive though.

I have one that I run but am curious to see yours. Would you mind posting it? And are you able to solo 4x8 and AVs? I am not full Incarnate shifted yet but run on 2x8 going to try 4 soon!

The original devs gave dark miasma to corruptors in 2005 in issue 6. This lasted until all the way to sunset in 2012, even after going rogue where the devs knew that heroes and villains would be teaming together. I never saw any plans from the original devs to change this, did I miss it? If not this is a straight nerf from the homecoming devs, not a bug fix.

The Homecoming developers have stated that the technology they used to fix the bug did not exist back in 2012 (eight years ago), so Paragon Studios couldn't have fixed it.
