RikOz Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 I keep finding relatively long mission arcs, mostly in Kings Row so far, that I somehow don't remember ever encountering before. Given the huge number of alts I created back in the day, I spent an inordinate amount of time in Kings Row, so I'm surprised to be coming across these missions. In particular, I've now completed the arc about shutting down the Skulls' superadine trafficking in KR, and another related arc that got into Skulls assassinating city council members and The Family getting involved. The only reason I can think of for missing them in the past is that maybe I fell into a rut with regard to the missions I ran in Atlas Park. For pretty much every character, I ran Matthew Habashy's stuff, and the stuff from Twinshot, and all the stuff that directly branched off from those arcs. So I always got the same Kings Row contacts from those arcs. This time around, it occurred to me to go talk to the origin-related NPCs in the basement of City Hall (M.A.G.I., S.E.R.A.P.H., etc.), and clearly they're introducing me to different contacts. Anyway, it's cool finding new stuff!
Charistoph Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 They were put in when Galaxy City was smashed and they added that Tutorial which allowed your character to decide on hero/villain as you played, as opposed to Character Creation. Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound? Quote They called me crazy? They called me insane? THEY CALLED ME LOONEY!! and boy, were they right.
Shinobu Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 I think some of those might have been on the test server at the time the game was shut down? Or as Charistoph said, brand new but you just missed them. I remember distinctly that the last part of the second Signature Story Arc was on the test server and never made it to Live, because I went to the test server specifically so I could run it and see what it was like. I thought it would be my only chance to ever do it. ^_^

Anyway, it's cool finding new stuff! It's actually old stuff... The origin related arcs were before Habashy/Twinshot/AE/DFB... If you run the original "Outbreak" (hero) or "Breakout" (villie) tutorials instead of Galaxy, you will get those origin contacts in your starting zone. Glad you are enjoying them!

Yeah, I knew that Habashy et al were added with Galaxy City. I actually never got to see the Outbreak/Breakout tutorials until this time around, as they'd been replaced by GC when I was playing previously, so I always got sent straight to Habashy. I think that, by the time I discovered the folks in City Hall, I had always already done Habashy/Twinshot, so I'd outleveled the origin people and they weren't offering anything. But this time around, I decided to try Outbreak since it was being offered again, and I got sent to Ms. Liberty and then into City Hall. So I'm sure the arcs I mentioned are actually "old", but they're new to me.

You can still use the City Hall contacts as soon as you get in to Atlas Park, and it doesn't matter which Tutorial you take, or even if you didn't use one. So long as you meet the requirements of a contact (i.e. level, introduction as needed), you can just approach the contact and start talking to them. Works in Praetoria, too. Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound? Quote They called me crazy? They called me insane? THEY CALLED ME LOONEY!! and boy, were they right.

Yup, for several alts now I've just skipped Habashy/Twinshot and gone right to City Hall to see what I get.
Zombie Hustler Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 I think some of those might have been on the test server at the time the game was shut down? Or as Charistoph said, brand new but you just missed them. All of the King's Row Skulls story missions were on test and would have been a part of i24 had it been released. Sadly, any followups to those (excellent) stories may never come. I think the Devs were clearly leading to an ongoing storyline that would incorporate the Trolls and either some updated missions in Skyway City or in the Hollows (or both), and possibly that would have extended even further. They were an excellent series of story arcs, though, and have contributed to my character using King's Row as his home base. I think it was part of the devs revisiting older zones and updating and expanding the stories therein. (Personally, I'd love in an ideal world to see various city zones being able to support a much broader range of gameplay- so that one could have a "street level" guy from levels 1-20 or even all the way to 50 without having to also go into some of the more cosmic/mystical sorts of storylines.)
