KatTypeM Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 Guess what community? I figured out how to edit the old vidiot maps overlays and get CoH to read them! Yes I know I made atlas all red but that is an easy hex code to read. I want to start work on an i26 overlays for fellow badge enthusiasts, but need help with compiling new locations of badges on the map. (images with little red X's would be nice) Take a screen shot and share. To meow or not to meow... now wheres my tuna!
Janrith Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 Someone setup an i25 version of the maps (from the CoH: Homecoming #badge-hoarding Discord channel): ProfAllisterYesterday at 2:06 AM https://sourceforge.net/projects/vidiotmaps/ plus https://cp.sync.com/dl/97eb06a10/grgtpghh-2qtmgu3h-8yz2bey8-jq77cgp4 and https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/573115173259182091/576034138365231104/maps_20190506.7z Run the first to install into the directory that looks like https://imgur.com/ldtK4v0 then unzip the second to merge the data folders, then drop the third into DATA\MAPS\Static
Nericus Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 Well the good news is that I sent my badge seeker thru all the zones. RWZ being changed plus echo Atlas, faultline and crashsite are the ones that we would need maps for. The other zones are unchanged. A pal of mine is uploading to their YouTube channel vid files of the echo zones to show where the map badges are.

I tried an "updated" overlay recently, and it was the Walk the Dot style, not Vidiotmaps. I did not care for it.
Janrith Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Actual VidiotMaps with additions (but in a different style) for the updated zones.

Jordan_Lee Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 Has anyone downloaded this? Does it look red like the picture above? Or is it like the original Vidiot Maps? Is there a more hand-holding 'for idiot's guide available for those like me?
Impish Kat Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 Actual VidiotMaps with additions (but in a different style) for the updated zones. That "different style" is Walk to the Dot. The zip file is even labeled "Walk to the Dot". Please don't present Walk as the same as Vidiot... they are not the same at all. While I understand that some folks really love Walk, it dosen't work for me. If there is any actual VIDIOT updates, I would be very interested.
Valkeiran Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 If there is any actual VIDIOT updates, I would be very interested. I doubt there are or that there will be any time soon. VidiotMaps has been kaput since live died. Until someone copies their style enough to satisfy you, you may have to make do with Walk.
Impish Kat Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 ... Until someone copies their style enough ... If I'm reading the OP correctly, it seems like someone is working on exactly that... ... I was just sharing what someone else on the forums posted as "an update" to VidiotMaps since the original was AWOL and wanted to be sure everyone was aware of it. I'd also much rather have the consistent look and feel of VidiotMaps, as the large badges are a bit... odd to me. Thanks for the new term... was this a pre-sunset thing? Was it popular? Not trying to thread-jack, just curious. Tare care.
Blondeshell Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 The "Walk to the Dot" style of maps was originally used by Paragon Maps as an alternative to VidiotMaps, and was started by TonyV of the Titan Network. I think the last updates came in 2009 and it went off-line in 2011. http://web.archive.org/web/20071029022131/http://paragonmaps.com/index.php
