In this age of everyone defense soft capping /fire does just fine. I even took whirlwind for moar SPIN. SPIN to win, burn to WINNNN I made one of these as my first stalker. Love it. I got capped resists to S/L/Fire and enough defense to not die immediately. For single targets its BU plus AS but for groups it is Burn, my spin, and my Melee booster attack and then repeat. I can pick off the rest with a jab or two. On the ITF Burn plus your single target attacks can handle shards. I can handle my own up to +3 easy enough. You have to live on the edge though. Most things die before I do and I just heal up and move on to the next. Body epic allows for more end, recovery and regen. By using global proc you can build enough regen, recovery, and hp procs to counter the lack of defense fire has. Being capped to 3 types and decent to the rest, plus decent defense makes fire a premiere set as if has an attack built in that others lack. And yea, burn makes things run, but that takes the heat off me long enough to keep living. If they are scattering they are not attacking me.
brasilgringo Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Savage is insanely addicting due to Feral Charge. The mechanic is kind of cool too -- a 5-stack Rending Flurry is like a PBAOE bomb.
Gulbasaur Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 I have to say I'm really enjoying rad/rad at the moment working through the Goldside story arcs. It's just very... smooth? Nothing fancy, nothing flashy - just steady, fuss-free combat. Rad melee has a heal early on, which is helpful, and rad armour has good endurance management from the get-go. There are two AoE attacks build into rad armour, which I'll get to eventually, but at the moment I'm really just enjoying not worrying about endurance and being sturdy enough at low levels to not have to stop and rest every two fights. All of the attacks in Kin/* have -Damage which works very well when/if any get through */Energy's +Defense. */Energy also has Energize (Heal and End discount), Entropy Shield (+Recharge status protection toggle), and Energy Drain (PBAoE End siphon) to make sure you never want to leave combat. Kin Melee has a bad reputation of being a "slow" set, but the attacks feel very quick to me (Concentrated Strike being an outlier). CS, however, does benefit from resetting Build-Up on crit, so I can't advise skipping it. The set also boasts a very decent ranged knock-down power in Focused Burst, though it comes late at L26. All-in-all, it was a very fun Praetorian character for me. I skipped Placate from the primary, and Disrupt (PBAoE Stun-toggle) and Overload (+Defense "Oh crap" power, with a hard crash). You can abuse the hide proc to have build up at all times unless you get very unlucky with it. build up> body blow > smashing blow > assassin's strike > concentrated strike > build up I think you'll actually have the gaussian proc for all these attacks too. VashNKnives Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 (edited) Staff/Ice Armor/Leviathan may be the toughest non-tank character I've ever made. It hasn't been defeated yet at 51. I also primarily pick-up teamed all the way there, except for soloing a few of the accolades and one task force (Numina). For perspective, if you care, all my 50s have I/O sets and most start getting them at around level 10, I have 2 other incarnate stalkers (ice/shield/levi and elect/nin/mu) that are no where near as tough, and I've played very recklessly on this character for most of the ride - soloing x8 size mobs without insps, pickup group for Lady Grey (mini-Hami), speed ITFs when I was sub 50, rushing mobs on teams... etc. I have one tank, brute, and defender and many scrappers, blasters, doms, controllers, corruptors, etc.... all I/O'd heavily... and survivability of the Staff/Ice/Levi Stalker easily rivals my dark armor scrapper and makes me feel like I'm more on my rad/titan/energy tank due to all the AoE and non-stop assailing. I love my blasters and scrappers... but this stalker has risen out of nowhere to be tied for my main alt. Edited October 26, 2020 by VashNKnives 1
