Psi melee is really good but occasionally you will encounter enemy groups that resist it really well, like some robot types.

Theres usually a healthy portion of smashing in psi at all times so its more of a non issue, psi more often than not feels extremely powerful, fast and has the mechanic insight to make it even more powerful.

I highly recommend psi melee. In pve you wont have any issues at all with it 🙂

I actually also wanted to ask @Infinitum about Psi Melee! Specifically Shield/Psi, given how much shield experience you have - is this a combo you've tried? On paper, there's a lot to like...

Haha yeah you would think at some point I would have done a shield psi, but the two burned themselves out in my progression at different times so they never intersected.

It would be a good combo though.

This build is how i would try to pull that combo off.

Thanks very much for posting these! I'm just trying a Tanker, and find myself clueless. I made a Dark/Staff, and looking at builds (yours and others) has helped a lot, but I'm still not overly pleased with it.
I was hoping you (or some kind soul) might have a Dark/Staff build, or some guidlines/thoughts for a Tank newb? Pretty please? ;]
Thanks!

Staff is one that i am least familiar with, but ill try to pull something together for you.

@Infinitum - if its not too much to ask, I would like your help with a rad/claws build? I used your rad/rad tanker, and while I love rad armor, rad melee feels awkward and clonky, and the contained mechanic is a bit wonky. I tried looking online and I can't find a single rad armor/claws tanker build anywhere.

Fingers crossed!

We need to tap a seasoned claws person for the claws part, i have never ran it. I have heard its very good though.   let me take a day to look it over and ask a few people some questions about claws and i will come up with something for you.

There are Claws/electric Brute builds out there and some really like the pairing. Rad armour is similar to electric in quite a few ways. Might be a good place to start looking.

I did this proc heavy build though.

@Gobbledegook, @Infinitum - thank you both! and i actually like how that one looks gobblegook, I've never ran a proc heavy build like that before. Might be a nice change of pace! My only question is how often do all those damages proc, because I am a bit concerned about damage being all over the place and inconsistant.

Thanks bunches! Appreciate it!

I can't give you exact figures but i know on my SS/Rad and DM/Rad they proc a lot. There are plenty of procced attacks to cycle through.

Any guide for a Bio/TW tank? Thanks.

Bio is out of my wheelhouse - I have never used it.  I probably will one day just to experience it as I like to experience everything i can when it comes to this game, but not yet unfortunately.

Sorry about that.

Nice. Maybe swap the Tough and Obsidian Shield slotting? Capped smashing/lethal with no proc, more cushion for resistance debuffs, plus slightly lower endurance drain.

...I suppose I should first make sure I understand resistance debuffing. Let's say we have 95% resistance, capped at 90%,  and get hit with a 30% resisance debuff. We only take a 3% net resistance debuff, down to 92%, still capped at 90%. Right? So as with a Super Reflexes with huge DDR, we can make ourselves mostly immune to resistance debuffs by overcapping maybe 5-10%? Where if we start at exactly 90%, we're theoretically subject to cascading resistance failure, at least if there were enough resistance debuffs in the game to do that. Not sure there are.

Not a problem at all.  I re-did my inv/en tank to one of your solid build, but I haven't tested it out live.  Below is what I have for the bio/tw.  Any critique is welcome.

I'll put something together for you when I get home.

Until then you can take any of my invul builds - Infinitum is my primary and the staff part of the dark staff build I just posted to Soldar a few posts up and that should get you off and running.

Hey @Infinitum I am highly intrigued by the lodestar build and have started a Fire / Psi Tanker "The Searing Seer".

I'm wondering if you can provide me any tips on leveling with the build. Some of it's strengths and weaknesses. Really any advice is appreciated as I'm just coming back to the game from many years and am trying to find a char that speaks to me.

Thanks much for this thread btw. It's given me lots of things to try in the Tanker AT.

Ill tell you a funny story, I recently converted Lodestarr to a Fire Energy Tank because it seemed to synergize more.

FIre Psi is still very very good though.

Let me ask you this, what are the three most important gameplay aspects you are looking for out of a tanker?

Posted (edited)

@Infinitum I'd say the most important things are being able to play solo, feel like I'm contributing something in a group, and I like the idea of fire for the character concept.

Ok, trust me on this one - go Fire Aura-Energy melee and use this build.

If you wanted to go more AoE try Shield - Elec Melee - aoe for days.

Or if you want ultimate reliabiliy with slightly less damage go Invul-Energy Melee

Lodestarr - Tanker (Fiery Aura - Energy Melee).mxd

Ultra Infinitum - Tanker (Shield Defense - Electric Melee).mxd

Nova Infinitum - Tanker (Invulnerability - Energy Melee).mxd

@Infinitum Cool man, I'll definitely try it out! I appreciate you taking the time to help me with this.

Any tips on leveling with it?

Does it have any major weaknesses to watch out for?

Any major strengths? (Sounds dmg heavy which is always fun)

Again, much thanks mate!

The Fire Energy though IMO has a perfect mix of AOE with the Combo of Blazing Aura, Burn, and whirling hands - then combine that with the ST capability of Energy Transfer and Total Focus while under fiery embrace and build up thats a solid one shot lieutenant killer nad 2 shot boss killer.
