This is a bit of a tough theme for me: I don't have a character that is my global and I never remade my very first character when HC started up.  But, if it's all the same, I can bring my first villain in her original costume (Hostia Usta - Fire/Dark Corr.).

Perfect.  That's kinda what I meant by this.  On Live, I recall the default was the first character name was your global unless you changed it, but maybe on HC it's a little less set in stone.

That sounds right.  And, as self-damning as it may be, I chose to rename it to what I had used as my global back in the Live days (which I had *also* chosen apart from my initial character).

Yeah, my first character is also not my global, lol. It also probably doesn't even exist anymore since I go through so many alts. Closest one I think of is Apocolyptica - Demons/Storm MM. I think she's my oldest HC character at this point so I'll bring her. 🙂

Even though her original costume was the witch pregen one without the hat, I do still have the file I think.

"Bananiac" was definitely not my 1st toom on live, and definitely not my Global at that time. I just remember when I came up with this name, I found it so absolutely brilliantly funny that I kinda kept it as my Alias for all future things I would do on the Internet from then on.

 

And when I discovered HC, it had become 2nd nature and was the obvious choice for my new Global. Even though, it was not the first toon I made. I had about a dozen new and re-made toons before I settled down on that one. This is by all accounts and for the purpose of this excercise what I will roll with! For the record: Rad/Plant Controller (*)

 

 

(*) Even though the original on live was I think a Spines/Rad Scrapper or something... but that Controller fits the idea much better).

In my head I always think of you as Valnara or some form of that, right? When I click on info of your character in-game, I think that's what it says. Valnara1, maybe?

I love learning the story of how Bananiac came to be! Thank you for sharing that with us. I'll tell you how I came to be Midnyte. When Rich and I first starting playing together in 2005, shortly after the CoV expansion, my global name was by default, my first character, "Decanatrix". Many old-timers will remember me as a clumsy, bumbling dominator who died a lot. Not only was it my first MMO, but I chose a difficult AT as an introduction to that! But I persevered with her, and made friends villain-side in the game (who kept me alive LOL). But somewhere along the way, I made a hero to play with some friends hero-side, and I discovered the beauty of dark melee scrapper. She was Midnight's Shadow, my first L50 hero. I got a reputation for having characters with midnight or moonlight or any night/celestial theme in the name, and got teased about it quite a bit back then. 😄 

 

Then a few years went by and I was playing other MMOs concurrently and was playing Warhammer Online quite a bit. My main on there was a witch elf named Midnyte, and it somehow became my brand. So in CoH, I renamed my global from Decanatrix to Midnyte, this was around 2010 or 2011. From then on, it's just always been my name in any game I play.

Aye, I had originally started the server as TygerDarkstorm since that was my first character on Live; but I was never happy with how I was remaking her and changed my global to Valnara, and since I guess it existed, it turned to Valnara1. ^_^

I've gotten massively into reading after a great many years of not reading much, and all of a sudden I wondered if we've done any book themes? I suppose we technically have since comics are a type of book and many of the movies/character concepts we've done are also books.

 

But anyway, some ideas--some may be duplicates of things we've done since I can't remember everything:

• Lord of the Rings inspired costumes
• Crusades - powers/costumes
• Genre based costumes - e.g., sci-fi, fantasy, romance, horror, etc.
• Steven King inspired costumes
• Favorite author/series/book costumes
• Religious icon costume & powers (e.g., base it on a famous religious figure providing this idea wouldn't cause offense to anyone; could easily be inspired by Norse, Egyptian, Greek mythologies)
• Mythological creatures - powers & costumes
• Angels & devils costumes
• Modern Robin Hood (using guns & technology instead of bows & arrows)
• Witches/coven costumes (I know this would be a redux since I think we've done witches for Katie Hannon)
• Victorian/gothic era costumes
• Wizard of Oz/Wicked inspired costumes
• Costume inspired by classical literature (American or otherwise)
• Shakespeare
• Shape shifter costumes (would need 2 costume slots to accomplish)
• Star Wars inspired costumes, bonus points for matching powers
• Nymph inspired costumes
• Costume based on a recipe
• Military powers & costumes (or just costumes)
• Police/law enforcement costumes
• Literal description (e.g., your character's name is explanation of their powers--example: Tyger Darkstorm must have dark and storm powers)
• Girl/Boy Scouts - teenage scouts get empowered to fight/commit crime

As it turns out, I do have a Star Wars theme for next week, since it's close to May the Fourth. 🙂

 

Here are themes for May:

• 3 May - “May the Fourth be with You!” - Abandoned Sewer Trial (Mairenn MacGregor, Level 38-50) - Star Wars costumes (Jedi/Sith), appropriate AT/powers (a lot of powers could qualify).
• 10 May - “Forged in Fire” - Beast of the Mountain (Virgil Tarikoss, Level 15-20) - Melee weapon powers (e.g., swords, hammers) or fire powers - Blacksmith and Firefighter costumes
• 17 May - “Rikti Infiltration” - The Lady Grey TF (Lady Grey, Level 35-50) - Rikti costumes with matching weapon-based powerset (We postponed this one last time for “Red/Blue Wedding.”)
• 24 May - “Lite Brite” - The Sky is Falling (Admiral Sutter, Level 20-40) - Spectrum Body type (other costume elements are fine, but the spectral body should be visible). Everyone picks a different color. Any AT/powers.  (I’ll be out of town for this one.)
• 31 May - “Mutate This!” - The Kheldian War (Moonfire, Level 23-28) - Professional-Grade Gene Alterations with Radiation/Radioactive, Bio/Nature, Poison powersets; appropriate costumes.
