Spines/Fire + Rad/Fire AFK farming build overview.

Posted (edited)

Heyo! Been away from the game for awhile, also haven't posted a forum topic in awhile and I missed you all :3

Happy New Years to everyone! This is going to be pretty straightforward, just sharing some builds here. No obnoxiously large and bold headings here (although, I AM tempted....) ahem....

Anyways, these are the two Brutes I have been using to AFK farm and I have been having really great success with them. If I get behind the wheel I can sometimes clear the asteroid farm map before my T4 Ageless expires (2 minutes.) Just AFK farming you can expect to 'clear' the map in about 5 minutes on average. I call it AFK farming, but if you're doing the asteroid map you can clear so quickly you start wondering if you're AFK at all.

So let's start off with the Spines/Fire Brute whom I had to name "Generic Farmer."

Pretty simple stuff. You might notice I don't have 45% defense to Fire... Heresy... Right? Well, both Brutes have Maneuvers and Tactics,  which means when I afk farm with them both (which is all the time), my Fire defense jumps up to 45%+... I forget the actual number. But they have never died on an AFK farm, so there's that! Also, having Tactics on both Brutes really helps out since your AoE attacks have a lower base accuracy. I normally just put Burn on auto, hence the AFK farmer part of this whole thing, but sometimes... I'll actually drive. Outside of the double Ageless buffs, perma-hasten is easily achieved via a few Force Feedback procs from Ripper. Build Up and Fiery Embrace recharge so quickly on both of these Brutes it's actually sort of annoying. There are zero gaps between all of your AoE but the perfect attack chain goes something like this... Burn -> Fire Ball -> Spine Burst -> Ripper -> Fire Ball or Burn -> repeat. Sometimes I will skip a rotation of Ripper and opt for a PBAoE that is recharged, but you do want to squeeze them in there as it really pumps up the recharge on Build Up/Fiery Embrace, Fire Ball and Burn. Not really sure what else to say here... Soooo.. next!

Now for the Rad/Fire whom I call "Less Generic Farmer." At the time, Spines/Fire were everywhere and Rad/Fire was not. Now I'm not so sure who's more generic! 😛

Alright, so this one I think is the better AFK farmer. And pretty much for one reason only. Irradiated Ground and procs. If you didn't know, Irradiated Ground drops a patch every 5 seconds. Why does this matter? Well, normal damage auras, like Blazing Aura, have a chance for procs to activate every 10 seconds. Well, what does that mean? It means your proc rates are doubled in Irradiated Ground, which means every 5 seconds you have a chance for free damage and that is HUGE on an AFK farmer. It also inherently debuffs enemy defense and has a chance to reduce their damage resistance via a proc. Outside of all that fancy talk, it's pretty much the same thing here as the Spines/Fire. Perma-hasten, less than 45% Fire defense when solo, a gapless AoE chain and a chance to boost your recharge via Cross Punch. As per usual, Burn takes priority here and is always on auto. But when I do farm by my own hand I do an attack chain like this; Burn -> Atom Smasher -> Ball Lightning -> Burn or Cross Punch -> repeat. It is rare that I use Electrifying Fences, maybe only occasionally throwing it in every 4th or 5th rotation or if I get really unlucky and get zero Force Feedback procs. If you do use Electrifying Fences, I would recommend using it only after the mobs have grouped up on you.

Figured I'd go over Incarnates here. What to pick and why;

Alpha slot - Musculature Core Paragon- This is definitely the Alpha to pick here. Especially on an AFK farmer since you won't be combining and mashing inspirations like a madman until you are at damage cap. This also helps shore up the lack of damage slotting in Ball Lightning, Fire Ball and Cross Punch.

Interface slot - Degenerative Core Flawless/Reactive Core Flawless  - Someone with the numbers can clarify this, but I believe Degenerative slightly outperforms Reactive. Hard to go wrong with either pick here, though.

Judgement slot - Pyronic Total Core/Ion Total Core  - Ion is hands down the better option here. I took it on my Rad/Fire Brute for thematic reasons. Took Pyronic on my Spines/Fire for thematic reasons. I appreciate both but Ion is better.

Destiny slot - Ageless Core Epiphany - Just take it. Don't ask where it came from, what's in it. Just trust me and take it.

Hybrid slot - Assault Radial Embodiment - Assuming you will manually farm sometimes, the chance for double hit Hybrid is far superior since you can and should be at the damage cap sometimes.

Lore slot - Banished Pantheon Radial Superior Ally - I haven't tested all the Lore pets here (shoot me) but I am pretty confident this is the best one. The Defiler that it spawns is untouchable, can draw aggro, buffs you AND has a location AoE rain power that does some serious damage.

So there we have it. These are my two AFK farming Brutes and I have been having tons of success with them. If anyone hasn't done this, here's what you do.
1. Make sure you have two accounts (or more ;D)
2. Have one of these Brutes on one account and the other on... the other account.

3. Level them up, you can solo farm a /Fire Brute to level 50 in one day if you have the time. M3z has a great tutorial
4. Sup @M3z
5. Type in 'Fire farm' in AE, find which one you like. I personally use the Bloody Rainbow Comicon Asteroid farm map. (arc ID 125)
6. Hop into the mission with both Brutes, spawn your Lore pets, buff yourself with your Ageless and turn on your Hybrid, find the NPC that draws aggro if there is one, gather as many mobs as possible and... Do nothing! Just stand there.
7. Profit.

Here's my third AFK farmer, not a Brute, at least on his birth certificate. Whatever, haters gonna hate. He can't afk farm solo, but with the two Brutes I just shared this Blaster can AFK farm just as well. Check it out!

Are you running some kind of script to automate them or a controller that hits every button in rapid succession?  Are you running multiple machines or tabbing between instances of CoH on the same one?

The damage auras and with Burn on auto kills everything  it just takes a little while

No script, just Burn on auto. I do tab through instances to set them up initially. But once I get both Brutes in the middle of the map, pop hasten and whatever else is beneficial (Ageless, Assault Hybrid, sometime I pop both build ups and also use my Judgment/PBAoE that isn't on auto.)

Other than that and resetting the mission I don't do anything. It can be tab heavy though if you want to AFK farm quickly. You'll find yourself resetting every 5 mins or so.

The @Brigg maps don't appear to be updated for the last few pages so you could pretty easily still get away with afk farming on them at a significantly decreased level of inf/xp (like 1/3 of the updated farm maps) The above builds won't last on the new maps if you go afk, you pretty much have to build in a ton more hp/regen to survive forcing you into epic energy mastery which means giving up any decent aoe's other than the ones from primary and secondary. Page 5 meant Irradiated doesnt proc as often so your killing slower and burn doesnt seem to be as good as it was either. None of this matters if your actively farming you can keep the best stuff from mu mastery and still kill pretty quickly.

Okay so it turns out @Brigg maps may actually be worse if not updated the older maps may now have mobs running with all the new - def from fire attacks.

Haven't tweaked my brute and I ran that tunnel map with the mafia theme, can't remember the name.  They now aggro with range attacks even above the taunt aggro cap, but there is a fun exploit....break line of sight, hit burn, and they melt as they run to you with each death.  Its the same as before, you just need to break LOS so an office map might be a good farm if someone can make one.

I'm still running rad/fire/mu with almost no changes since page 4+5 and still using the atta cave map just hiding round corners a bit more when i afk so wandering mobs don't ranged blast me but i stopped using @Briggs maps hoping he'll get around to updating them eventually. Not sure an office map could squeeze in even 1/5 of the number of mobs let alone roaming ones and you'd probably have to hop up elevators 😛

Sounds like Big Gotter's "Big Mobs"...ends with the two hostages and "I like big mobs", right? 😆
