So I have level 50 Illu controller full T4 incarnate. I havent played him for a while now was leveling a few tanks and my plant/storm (its is amazing).

I was wondering if you guys could give me some tips for my build. I allmost never use phantasm cause he will allways run in and gets himself killed.

I took tarantula but on +4/8 it die pretty fast too. I used to have group invibility to buff my pets but found it lacking. Most groups dont like it ( escort missions etc).

No particular feedback about the build, but I can say I actively avoid x/8 settings on my ill/cold. The aoe damage is too anemic, no aoe containment options and so much potential damage from PA is lost when they don't focus fire due to healback.

I prefer +4/3, not because most enemies types are too challenging, but just for expedience purposes. Or just hunt AV's/GM's/solo TF's. That is illusion's forte imo.

That said, consider slotting spectral terror for tohit debuff. Rad Infection plus spec terror (tohit debuff slotted) should get pretty close to flooring most +3's (considering alpha level shift at +4).  Maybe the 2 defense pet IO's would help Phant? Other than that, he just dies. The power has been bugged for over a decade haha.

For anyone looking, this was my Illusion Radiation Guide on the old forums.  Most of the information is still good.  The Rad debuffs now last a little while after the anchor is defeated, and this might change one's strategy on choosing an Anchor.  Most of the other strategy tips are still good,

Obviously, since there are some new IO sets, the builds can change.

My philosophy with my Ill/Rad (and controllers in general) is to maximize them as Controllers, not try to make them tanks.  I want to maximize CONTROL, not defense or resistance.  An Ill/Rad is ideal for maximizing Recharge for Perma-PA, then using Stealth and misdirection as protection instead of Defense.  That might mean an occasional face-plant, but I'm OK with that since I find it to be more fun (and challenging).

Holy smokes, it's Local_Man! You're a legend. I referenced that guide so much both in the old game and when I first started on HC. Glad to see you here in HC and in the Controllers forum.

Sadly, someone grabbed my "Local Man" global name, so I have to go by @Area Man.

But thanks.  Back on live, I wrote 3 Controller guides, but the Ill/Rad one was the most popular by far.  I was active enough on the forums that the Devs asked me to take over the Controllers "Guide to Guides" at one point, so I reviewed all guides posted and indexed them to be easily found.

Not long after Homecoming came out, my old desktop computer died, leaving me only with my office laptop -- which can't be a game machine.  But a couple of months ago, one of my sons got my old desktop working again, so I'm up and running. However, I don't have as much time to play.  So far, my only 50 is Area Man (an Ill/Rad, of course) on Excelsior.
