Fire / Nature Corruptor

Hi folks

 

So I'm working through Fire / Nature and quite enjoying it. But probably not enough to go all out Purples and Winters. Pointers / alt builds welcome!

 

I skipped Entangling Aura. Honestly at the moment I don't feel like I need it, I've a couple of cones (heal and Fire Breath) and I've no real need to be in close combat (say unlike a Fire/Nature Controller). Downside is a lack of the lovely Basiliks Gaze +recharge but I can't see how I'd fit it in.

Much as i prefer corrs over fenders i find myself playing the fender version more than my fire/na corr. I skipped cones on both i spend too much time in melee. Had to take agility for the s/l/e and perma hasten and i'm still 5-6 seconds off perma overgrowth which i think should be the aim of nature toons. I'd try fit in entangling if you can it makes it much more survivable when you do find yourself up close and it stops a lot of stuff getting out out of RoF range. Couldn't fit in sorcery on mine i'll just post as is hopefully it will help:

Thanks. Yep, I've considered corruptor vs defender over and over. Decided I liked Scourging RoF too much. I've played Nature on a Mastermind and I know how much mez can mess them up. So decided a RoP build might be fun / less frustrating. 

 

I've been debating Fire Breath vs Entangling. It's pretty much a straight swap IO bonus-wise. As my recharge gets better (level 40 now) I find myself using Breath less. Things running out of RoF, especially solo is getting really annoying so something to at least help makes sense.

I didn't build it yet but this is something I was messing around with. I think I got it from Nihili or someone here (maybe a Defender version).  I think with Ageless the Overgrowth is nearly perma.  Maybe it could be done better. I know it built for resists, with decent early uptime on RoP.

One thing to keep in mind is that Entangling Aura is autohit. It doesn't help you with set bonuses, but you can slot the power really effectively with 2 or 3 end/hold IOs.

Entangling Aura and all holds have one of the most efficient set bonuses in the game for defense+recharge by 4 slotting Basilisk's Gaze. You get 7.5% recharge AND 2.5% ranged defense, that's fantastic. On top of that its a toggle that holds and can take a +2 hold proc as well, giving you a passive form of defense.

 

You know what sucks? Spore cloud, a 3 second cast time power that enemies can easily run out of because we don't have slows or holds. If you depend on it for your ranged defenses it will let you down as enemies run out of it and you get pummeled. If you depend on it for melee defense it will work well, but it becomes such a slog to cast it for 3 seconds before every fight. I really really hate how it slows down my pew pew 😞

 

Instead of chasing recharge, I would rather bulk up my defense and resists while adding soul drain to the mix for more dmg and survivability. Overgrowth+soul drain (7 enemies)+aim >>>>>inferno=a 1857 dmg nuke (according to mids) with a radius of 25 and a -20% res proc on all the mobs affected by soul drain. This build can do that every 35-40 seconds (ageless). 

 

Anyway, I would use this instead. You lose recharge, but you gain softcapped melee and ranged defenses, maxed s/l resists, tons more dmg with soul drain, and a small passive (toggle based) chance to hold bosses with entangling aura.

I totally missed this. I play all my Supports like this. It's much more fun. 

 

Thanks Darkir. I'd respecced into Entangling and its awesome. I was on PuG team yesterday with two tanks and the leader was like "Follow Crom. He's absorbing the entire alpha" 😂

 

I'm not willing to give up Rune of Prot, it fits really well. However I am loving your build and the Positional Caps it brings (and the Dark Epic) so now I'm going to re-look and see if I can squeeze it all in somehow. 

 

Here's my current, exemp friendly build which is a bit of a tank mage. But Dark Epic would make it even more Magey. (on the live build I've actually got Clarion rather than Barrier)
