Is It Possible To Swap Bosses To Make It Appear They've Transformed?

I was trying to figure out if there way a way to make it appear that a boss, when almost defeated, changes into a stronger form. I wish I could have the new form spawn in the same spot, but even if I could just have him run off and disappear (without failing the mission), then he "returns" in a stronger form, that's ok as long as I can convey that a transformation occurred to the player. Is there any way to do this? I'm using an outdoor map and I've read that setting a position for a character to spawn is useless in those.

There isn't, unfortunately.

 

You can't even set the initial boss to flee because if he does escape then you fail and the second spawn won't happen.

Darm's correct. And yes - setting a position for a character in an outdoor map is useless. One of the reasons I don't use them very much. It's hard enough to get indoor spawns just right, while telling the story you want to tell.

If you use a small-ish or unique map, find one with only one spawn point with a particular tag; say, there's only one "middle" point. Put the boss there, then when he's defeated, the Final Form spawns there.

I have a few arcs where I hope the player just runs with the fact that the transformation/resurrection happens in the same room but a different spot. 🙂
