I personally think that the Electric Blast changes are going to throw this set into the lime light. The set already hits pretty hard and now the changes coming and with a paired secondary that enhances survivability.

Yeah, it's awesome if the don't change anything in a later build on the beta server. I really like it. Have run a few different iterations of a Electrical Blast/Energy Aura build  through some incarnate and ae missions. Good damage and survival. In prolonged +4/x8 fights the drain effects helps more and more. The design changes are IMO one of the better parts of the beta build.

Tried to find a balance between caped S/L/E def without (incarnate barrier will cap F/C too) and some solid resist (~50% S/L, ~38-40% E/N/F/C, 25% PSI) and some damge (procs). Global recharge is with hasten at 153.75%, possible to focus more on certain points but the slots don't grow on trees 😉

Fun build, created a baby version on one of the live servers

I am looking forward to checking out the elec blast set.  I haven't jumped on Beta and don't want to really since it will take away from my regular game time 🙂

I have no idea why Sents are bashed so much. They're one of my favourites and I guess they're the tankmage. I always team so their meh damage isn't a huge issue. They can be very durable and do OK damage.

I just hit 50 with a RAD/ELEC Sent and absolutely love it. I have a number of Sents and this is one of the faves. I also quite like my FIRE/BIO and WATER/RAD Sents. They really seem to be a versatile toon. I still do get the odd comment about what a trash AT it is when I join the odd PUG but I could care less.

Do they need some improving? Sure. Maybe they add a mechanic to the AT where the odd attack can do double damage (like the newer version or Arcane Bolt) from time to time. There are lots of options. Hopefully the Devs start a thread to ask for suggestions. It's the players that play these toons that can provide some of the best feedback and ideas.

Got four /Invul Sents, all with the capped typed defence (all except Psi) and capped S/L.

NRG/Invul/Lev - Probably my favourite, but only because he’s most Golden Age.

Fire/Invul/Fire - One I had highest expectations of, but didn’t really do it for me.

Psi/Invul/Psi - Best damage with great Proc options.
Elec/Invul/Mu - Probably the one I use most, due to ranged nuke and sapping fun.

Off on a trip for two weeks tomorrow but will post some builds when I get back if people are interested.

I'd also like to take a look at these. I definitely want to get and ELEC/? Sent going and have a Psi/Inv sitting around waiting to get rolling (you only have so much time!). Do any of the beta testers have a suggestion for a secondary for ELEC? I guess I'll also have to wait for MIDS before I can tackle a build.

Or maybe some of these changes are writing on the wall that the Sentinel overhaul is going to be pretty deep.  Perhaps that is why Sentinels aren't getting any changes, not even the ones to Electrical Blast, or (Oops, I missed that Electric Blast does apply; fixed!) any of the new sets or proliferations.  Why do that now when the AT itself may be overhauled later.

Obviously, I'd more than just really like some communication here, but the sentiment that it is a dead class to be forgotten for evah is a bit extreme.  If that were going to be the case, then just let us all know so we can strip our characters down before they delete the option to play Sentinels further.

What is going to suck though is the power balance is going to shift once again towards *everything* else which is just going to further creep the divide of the Sentinel (which started somewhat behind and is now exacerbated further... FUN).

I'm sure we can all look forward to a new future series of shitposts about how bad Sentinels are or how we're all mentally deficient for continuing to play it.  Can't. Wait.

/popcorn

Sure.  They will fix Sentinels.  And they will fix Rage crash on Super Strength (one of the most iconic powers in Superheroes yet here representing only Superadine addicted anger management candidates) in the same issue

now go ahead.  Hold your breath.  ( you will get neat new powers if you can hold it long enough!)
