Anyone willing to weigh in on my possible gaming PC choices?

So, I may be buying a new PC, since I'm too afraid to build one, and my old one is from 2014 and has a GFX card from 2009.  There's a few I'm looking at in the low 1K plus range from Best Buy.   I have no idea if the links for them will post or could be too big, but if anyone who legit knows tech be willing to give a opinion?

Try to post your links again.

I would try https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ and see what they have ... Black Friday deals are up on their website.

My cyberpowerpc has done fine by me and has a lot of MSI parts.

MSI sells their own computers as well - https://us.msi.com/ - also having Black Friday deals up.

Whatever you chose, I would make sure that it is Windows 11 compatible to get the longest life-span out of it.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

A couple of tech tips:

  • These days, you have to take what you can get for GPU (graphics card). It's good to get a discrete card, though the Ryzen APU is acceptable. No Intel integrated GPU compares.
  • One of the most overlooked GPU features is connection bandwidth. Try for a 256 bit-wide card or better.
  • Don't go below 8 GB of RAM. Slots to add more are good.
  • SSD fpr your your system drive is a big plus, but if not included, make sure you have a NVMe slot so you can add one later.

Good luck!

Oh, the ones I'm looking at are all SSD+HDD, since I'm a packrat.  And I don't need the psychotic best, more of a console gamer, but my PC has old damn parts.   Looks like a couple of the ones are sold out, but I'll still take opinions. Some are Cyberpower, most are Ibuypower, through Best Buy, since I like their financing deals.

Again, I'm not looking for great, just good.   Heaviest stuff I'll probably play is stuff like MechWarrior, the Xcom Games, the newer Diablo 4 whenever that happens, etc. etc.  Thanks for suggestions and thoughts in advance.

Amazon has a couple of computers on-sale today as well.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

Looks like the RTX3060 models are all sold out, no surprise there!

(BTW, I'd avoid any "open box" offers, as I've heard of some scammers buying bundles, swapping out the gfx cards for a similar but less desirable one, and returning the machine, a sad state of affairs.)

I have the RTX2060, it's a very good GPU if you're not playing 4K. I have a 2K monitor, which is plenty to my eyes,  so I'd recommend one of those boxes.

Looks like the iBuy or the HP models with the RTX2060 would both be good choices.

Just my $.02. Either way, have fun!

Any last thoughts/suggestions before I potentially pull the pin on a choice?

Late to the party by an hour.  For all I know you've bought already.

I'd even suggest starting at 16 GB, if possible.

I did a very quick glance-through on the thread.  I'll just add a minor point.  One think to consider is USB ports and what that might mean for the future of the computer.  Some of the offerings have USB black, which is USB 2.0 at a slower transfer speed.  Less expensive, but slower transfer rates, and aging technology. USB blue, or USB 3.0, spotted on one PC on your list that is sold out, is notably faster.   Also USB 3.0 comes in "flavors":  3.1 giving 10 Gbps transfer speeds and 3.2 giving 20 Gbps.  Some pitch these with Generation names as well.  If you see that, and you want 10 Gbps, don't go for "Gen 1" go at least "Gen 2".

Here's a nice little write-up on the various USB colors and meanings:  https://tech-fairy.com/what-is-the-meaning-of-the-different-usb-port-colors-blue-teal-blue-yellow-red-black/

Nope, haven't pulled the pin.   Still staring at my choices due to my indecision.  The main thing I looked at for these computers is dual HDDs or rather the SSD and HDD for more storage, and 16 gigs of RAM.  That's it.  That's the end of my main applicable knowledge.  All the different processor listings and GFX card listings are all unknown to me.  And if it takes a extra minute for something to transfer via USB that doesn't concern me too much, at the moment any way. Just more curious as to which ones on my list are more desireable.  Within my price range, which right now only included some PCs over 1300 because they were like 200 off.  I'm far more of a console gamer than a PC one.  FFS, I'm still quite happily playing THIS GAME.

So I know this thread is a little old at this point, but here's my 2 inf...

I don't usually have a big budget to work with, and while I used to build my computers from scratch, (or from individual parts, anyway), nowadays I prefer to work with a pre-built "barebones".  To that end, let me suggest a different approach.  Get yourself a good barebones like this, then all you need to include is a GPU and HDD or SDD.  Besides those components, you'd probably need some adapters like these or these.

This approach will be much cheaper than trying to build a full premade system, and will likely have as good or better performance.  Regardless of what you go with, best of luck!
