Hello !

I recently started an Electric / Kinetic character and I must say, I am having a really good time playing it ! Although I have not found much info on these boards about the Electric Control Archtype.

I really enjoy the electric aura that transfers end from enemies around me. With this power up i never even come close to running out of endo, even when I forget to turn off ninja run and sprint.

I'm not looking to play this character as a solo, going to be 100% group oriented so I went with Kinetics so I get to stack buffs and stuff while I'm not CCing.

I'm looking for some general help with slotting and enhancements. Also I would like some feedback on interesting power pools and epic powers (I have not gotten a character to epic power levels yet) with considerations that my electric control power "conductive aura" seems to give me near infinite endo when I am in fights

At level 22 here are the powers I have (Sorry no character planner software at work)

Electric Control:

Tesla Cage

Chain Fences

Jolting Chain

Conductive Aura

Static Field

Paralyzing Blast

(26)Synaptic Overload

(32)Gremlins

Kinetics:

Transfusion

Siphon Power

Siphon Speed

Speed Boost

(28) Inertial Reduction

(35) Transference

(38) Fulcrum Shift

Super Speed:

Hasten

Leadership:

Assault

Tactics

How has it worked out for you? I've never tried electric control and am thinking of trying it. With kinetics, you'd be a sapper supreme, based mostly on draining their endurance, right? Control by having them have no blue.

Synaptic Overload is a great power and lasts really long in addition it doesn't cause any aggro on you. If you like Jolting Chain, you will love this power.

I am undecided yet on the Gremlins though. They can jump pretty high and frequently jump on balconies and ledges in those Skyraider base or CoT cave missions. Their AI doesn't seem to be the best.

I'm level 35 so far with my Elec/Time. Elec/Kin would have been my second choice, but I just love the combination of Time's Juncture and Conductive Aura way too much. :)

Are the gremlins basically the same as the fire controller's monkeys?

I haven't done a /time anything yet just because I don't like the visuals of the swirls. Maybe I'll do one eventually. Its silly I know, but for me half the draw to the powersets are the visuals. I made a grav/storm and a grav/kin only because of Propel's objects. Kin means more of them, and storm blows them all over the place (purely visual).

No, they cast some of your effects.  Most notably they do Jolting Chain, which will throw people for miles away if they are to far below your lvl.  This might only come up when Tip farming though.  Fire Imps just attack, no control effects.

Visuals and sounds.  I avoid Sonic because the sounds...

I play where my toons are... and they are everywhere.  But Everlasting is my current main home.  Come on by my base GOLD-11404.  And, yes, most of my toons start Gold Side (Bold Side)!

I have tweaked the visuals to baby blue/pink for Ele/Time ... looks kinda neat. For Grav/Time I made them blue/green to match the Gravity powers. The noise is not that annoying but I get what you mean. I could never play Beam Rifle because of the sounds.

I heard that KB>KD IO comes in quite handy with the imps.

Yeah, Overwhelming Presence is good on imps because it gives them a Knockdown.  And I believe they otherwise on KB when the enemies are too low and they just do too much damage.

Electric Control was one of the newer sets before the game shut down, which is why there is so little info about it. Overall, it's a very low damage set, similar to Ice or Earth. It was designed in many ways as a sister set to Ice Control.

On a Controller, the low damage means this is a set that is not ideal for soloing. (Comparably, on a Dominator, it's pretty incredible at soloing).

Jolting Chain is IMO the most skippable power. I'd still take while I was leveling up, and only drop it later. In fairness, though, the power is significantly better now that other Controller's immobs wont stop the knockdown effect of this power.

The pets are similar to Fire Imps in some respects, but their punches do endurance drain, why is often very useful for keeping enemies totally drained.

Synaptic Overload is one the best powers in the game. The only thing keeping it from being THE best power in the game is if your first attack roll misses, the power doesn't spread to other enemies. For that reason you want it heavily slotted for Accuracy. Even still, there is a 5% chance this power will miss even in the best of circumstances.

(On other hand, since SO doesn't alert enemies, if you miss while soloing all it means is you lose a little time. This goes back to how effectively Electric plays on Dominators).

FYI like any set that heavily features a PBAOE toggle, you will want to think long term about obtaining mezz protection and some kind of defense (likely Ranged defense). Getting detoggled is probably the biggest risk to this character.

One last note: Electric Control pairs ridiculously well with the incarnate Alpha slot that adds Endurance Modification, Recharge, and Defense. After slotting one of those my Electric characters make a huge jump in their ability to sap. My Electric/psi Dominator (who, in fairness, also has Power Sink from the Mu pool) frequently saps all energy from the Elite Bosses featured in the ITF so that they can't do anything. Being a /Kin, you should be able to do this to even some Arch Villains.

Would Electric/Kin not solo pretty well thanks to fulcrum shifted gremlins? Is is far far behind Fire/Kin in that respect?

Yeah, Elec damage is just really low.  Even buffed it feels slow.
