Claws/Stone

Hi guys,

I just came back to the game after a pause of almost 2 years and didn't fully grasp all those proc changes yet...

I'm in need of a new scrapper after finishing my Ill/Cold controller and Rad/SS tank.

I read about the love for either Claws/Bio or Claws/Stone. I think I already found some /Bio builds but I couldn't find /Stone.

Does anyone maybe have a Claws/Stone build, softcap and procced attacks would be really nice 😉

Soft capping on Scrappers with Stone Armor AND procing attacks is probably a bit of a challenging feat.  Also take into consideration that with the low recharge on the Claws attacks, full proc mode might not have the desired result.

This is what I am currently running. Not soft capped on Fire/Cold defense but better resists there. I will probably move some slots from Kick to Crystal Armor for more endurance recovery next time I respec.

Current numbers on my Brute Ice/stone/soul build.

S/L: 50.19

E/N: 43.87

P: 42.62

F/C: 40.66

I can't get S/L Res as high as I want, but the Def is high enough it matters little. E\N Res is lacking, but again, the def is quite high. Psi Resist is terrible, but I have stood in the middle Psi-Cops and their ranged attacks and been fine. On it and my Claws/en Scrapper, I put a grand total of maybe one proc in an attack and Shockwave has the KD one. I see no reason for Claws/stone to not work out really well. If I hadn't taken Claws to 50 three times already, I would roll one. Scrapper Claws is the most fun melee set going.

FYI, the build skips Evis. I concur on that. I can make an attack chain of FU, Spin, and Shockwave.

In terms of the build, you don't really need Swipe around level 20, so you can one slot it and put those slots elsewhere. You can two slot Sprint to get some S/L Res.

Slash, spin, followup, and focus are all you need out of Claws. The rest is for flavor. Shockwave IS a good power, and I've come to the belief that it is necessary on a proc build (replace Strike in the rotation). Eviscerate is a cool looking power if you like flips and stuff. But other than that, it does pretty bad DPA and destroys your flow. Eviscerate is 100% skippable. Shockwave is skippable too, but if it fits your playstyle GET IT. It's good. Not necessary, just good.

Claws does the some of the best AOE, if not the best, out of all the melee primaries and a big reason for that is Spin. Rad Melee may/may not do better AOE but it definitely doesn't touch it on single target DPS.

These are my top 5 ST DPS characters (no, I do not have hybrid on for these). That Claws uses Shockwave in it's ST chain. And a proc Claws build does really well. As you can see, the times are all really close to each other, so RNG can move one ahead or behind.  I'd imagine Claws/EA would do really well too, since my DB/EA is around 1:32 for a pylon time, and it was WAYYYY less squish.

Didn't bother to softcap Fire/Cold as the Resists are basically capped.   Had some good Pylon times with this as well and I do use Eviserate myself.  Think I had a gap with Shockwave, as the ST chain (but it's close to Eviscerate's DPS) and it hurt the ST DPS so kept Eviscerate.  I don't recall tho.

Are you thinking pulling the 2 from kick and adding a couple of performance shifters into crystal? I can't think of a way of doing it without sacrificing a bit of the e/n defense

The benefit of more recovery might be more important than the lower E/N defense.  I obviously initially planned for the extra defense, more real world testing is needed. Not in a major hurry to make any changes. But on other Stone Armor builds I notice the benefit of slotting for the extra endurance recoveree.

I'm doing two slotted Stamina and one other PS-End% for my Ice/stone Brute. There have been times when end is an issue, but I manage it even red side with all of those freaking Mu and at x8 although that was just today as I had been doing x4. I hit 47 so I don't care about out leveling content so much now. If anything, End can be an issue if you are soloing and take on Lethal Resistant mobs.
