Does anybody have a Fire/Fire/Fire Build with Highest Possible DPS?

Does anybody have a Fire/Fire/Fire Build with Highest Possible DPS? I'm curious to see what that would look like, a build that purely focuses on DPS.

I'm also interested in seeing the Meta-OP fire/fire/fire build (assuming that has +defenses too?).

Blaster - DefR - Fire Blast - Fire Manipulation.mxd

This is one with Ranged defenses; its sort of hard to go pure DPS because for that you want to proc slow some stuff, but for blaster specifically because your base damage is so high it's kind of better to get bonuses. Unless you plan on spamming enrages.

Should have enough +recovery to not need to worry

I built mine just to do damage.  This is a 2nd rewrite build and I am sure there are a couple more rebuilds needed to approach "the best"

Of particular note is it DOES matter the order of PROCs in Char and burn.  They fire from right to left in game!

Here is something I cobbled together just now for a "pure DPS" build. I am ignoring all IO focus on defenses except the uniques or incidental gains, instead choosing to add even the most marginal bit of extra damage on any power possible. I'm not saying this is the optimal way to play, but it should be plenty fine on teams!

Even so, it does maintain some decent resists across the board. To further empower this all out strategy, it includes Combat Teleport so you can pop in and out of the action even more efficiently. : )

Normally I would go Fire Breath over FSC, but FSC can do more optimal damage when properly procced. Burn is an even more powerful proc monster, but I have gone FSC instead here for ease of use (larger area, less scatter without an immob). You could do a 1:1 swap for Burn if you like - same slotting.

Regardless, no need for any end support beyond the Blaster sustain. Squeezed in recharge wherever possible without sacrificing sweet, sweet procs.

Max hit chance against +4's even without BU/Aim active, some nice recharge resist to keep you churning.

Note that this build has build up/aim/guassian turned off in Mids, and snipe is in Quick Form.

Flares is better DPA filler than Fire Blast these days, though you should have a smooth chain between Blaze, Blazing bolt, Char, and Fireball as needed. Yes, Fireball is good ST damage!

For Pylon tests, incorporating -resist in here (Burn, FSC, maybe one of the ranged aoes) will bring you ahead. However, in most engagements a damage proc will bring equal or greater return.

Ty for this, I just got time to look at it.

In general, is this the build you'd run, or do you have something else that you'd run/build?

Of particular note is it DOES matter the order of PROCs in Char and burn.  They fire from right to left in game!

Please elaborate.

To date in my testing this only matters in Burn because of the way Burn coded it can apply a -Res proc to its own damage.  The only other powers where this happens are ones where damage is on delay like Savage Leap or Mass Levitate.  In those it does not matter what slot the -Res is in, only that the damage is on delay.  Damage procs it really doesn't matter at all save for those of us with OCD. 🙂

If you have timestamps on in combat log you will notice that all procs fire on the same "second" which is the most granular I have been able to get in terms of server time in combat logs.  No matter which slot a -Res piece is located in Leap or Levitate it will apply the -Res before the power's damage is logged because the damage is on delay.  In Burn you want -Res up front (right justified) because Burn is Burn.  I tested this extensively with Leap and Levitate. Moving procs around and trying them in different orders.  Always the same.  Slot -Res into position 6 or position 1 and it still does the same thing.  The key for those powers is delayed damage, not slot position choice.

Again, Burn is the exception, not the rule.

If Char behaves like Burn then it definitely needs to be nerfed.  It is already numerically superior to powers like Echo Chamber by every measure that matters, and for Blasters has 1/2 the recharge time it does within APPs for every other at (16s vs. 32).

However, because of this behavior I have taken to slotting any proc with a duration effect as the last piece to fire (slot 1 or 2 for all FF procs and the Scrapper ATO2 for example), just in case the server is actually logging them on different fractional seconds (possible but I have no idea how to test for that without more granularity in the time stamps).  If they all fire on the same "tick" it doesn't matter.  If they fire on different "ticks" within the same second, then you're getting that fractional second of extra duration by slotting them in position 1 or 2.

I have no idea if that works, or matters, but between OCD and superstition I am doing it anyway. 😛

TLDR:  Yes, Procs log their firing in order from right to left in a slotted power.  No, it doesn't really matter save for outliers like Burn.  Maybe Char but I'd need to see evidence of the behavior to be sure. 🙂

@Makobola Can you look at this one please (like comb over it and see if there's anything blatantly wrong)?:

I copied a lot of what you had &:
- Removed Burn

(The 3% DMG lost from Obliteration set, I regained on Fire Sword via Makos Bite Set.)

(The 9% accuracy lost from Obliteration set, I regained on Weave.)

  (I lost 2.25 resist on Smash/Lethal)

- Removed Hot Feet

(I really wont use these two because I'll be mostly flying for fun and I'll fly down every now and then to Fire Sword Circle + Inferno + Fire Sword, just for show offs/style points). That plus all of my other tools, I probably just wont use them.

- Removed Combat Jumping & Superspeed

  (Went with Hover/Flight instead)

- Added Flight / Hover / Evasive Maneuvers

- Added Assault

- Fire Sword instead of Ring of Fire

- On Fire shield, I thought about trading Aegis for Reactive Armor (thoughts?)

I really like Rise of the Phoenix but I couldn't fit it in there...

@Kodo

You have to take ring of fire, it looks like you did something weird on the power selection, so that means you'll have to lose a power somewhere.

You can basically just play fully ranged anyway though if hover blasting.

You seem to be missing gladiator's armor +3% defense

That would bring you to the 45% softcap I believe

You could then add either more slow resistance or move those slots from Fire Sword into getting Numina's +Reg/Rec, Miracle +rec, and a Endurance Mod in Stamina

Awesome tyvm. I'll tweak it. tytyty

One thing to consider - if you aren't going Burn or Hotfeet, there isn't any great reason to pick Fire Manipulation, and you would be better served by a different secondary. You can always recolor for theme if you like. The powers you have chosen in Fire manip are basically just the generic powers all blaster secondaries get.

Some options that stand out in my mind:

  • Atomic - Provides some additional recharge buffs, and some fun holds, though does benefit from staying mostly in melee range.
  • Temporal - Some good bits for ranged play, including a build up power that buffs recharge, and nice mez options in addition to solid blaps if you want them.
  • Tactical Arrow - If you are okay with the theme, it plays super well at range, and provides some great soft controls that are proccable.
  • Martial - Some neat teleport mechanics, solid aoe with mitigation, and other unusual tools.
  • Electric - Outstanding melee attacks. Ideal if you want to hyper-optimize single target damage.

@Kodo

From what Onlyasandwich said, there are other options that would be superior in terms of hoverblasting.

Fire Manipulation tends to be best when you are playing a blapping playstyle that gets in close combat due to how good having two PBAoE auras and Burn is. Burn is literally one of the best damage aoes

Tac has good self-buffs and oil slick, so you can have 3 area effect pits with Oil slick, bonfire, rain of fire

I have a feeling we are not talking about the highest DPS fire/fire/fire build anymore.

That highest DPS build might be too "HOT" to handle for the OP

And it looks like the defensive hover build has "MELTED" away other alternatives.

I'll see myself out...
