Claws/Fire Brute Build Critique?

The Heavyweight Champion

Recommended Posts

I've been recently playing a Claws / Fiery Aura Brute.

This is my first foray into using Mids, so I was hoping to get some insights as to whether or not this build would be effective.  Are there any things I could change to improve this?  Did I completely miss the mark here?

I greatly appreciate anyone who lends their expertise!

Farm Fresh Builds

Has all the standard fire farm builds

You falsely assume they are looking to farm. This is a rather poor build for doing so. See sub 20% Fire Def and 55% Res Fire and no added AoE via Epics.

At a glance, it is fine.

Sorry, just to clarify:

Were you referring to the build I made with those percentages?  Mids is telling me it sits at 33.93% Fire Def and 90% Res Fire.

Correct, I wasn't actually look at your build as I had assume it had loaded up when one of my own builds was in there. Fire Def is still lacking for a farming build, so my point stands.

I would look at some one offs.

  • A Def Debuff: Chance for -Res in Slash.
  • Move the Hecatomb: Chance for Damage to FU.
  • Spin can use a FotG: Chance for -Res.
  • A general rule is damage/recharge can be switched for a damage proc. There's enough ways to get additional recharge you won't miss that one slot.
  • See Focus.
  • I might look at using some LotG: +Recharge in your Def powers. Claws is fast enough. You want the clicks in /fire recharging asap.

You have enough ways of getting End you might want to scale back and invest more into Healing Flames. Consume is fine in end recovery as along as the mob is sort of decent. You can look at things like Bombardment or even Mocking Beratement. I'm just going to assume you are a sane person and grabbing Shockwave at 32. /fire craves mitigation. Barrier will get you to softcap for S/L.

Thanks again for your great input.  I'll definitely make good use of this when modifying the build!

My own build for pointers. I've taken to use it as my 'main' due to how exemplary it exemplars despite EM/Fire being brute damage without -res finnickyness. It does behave better in the Trapdoor test than the EM version though.

I did not pick Shockwave though. Burn and Spin is all the AoE the build needs (IMO) with Shockwave actually slowing down the arresting. It has value for mitigation with the KD but I don't feel that I need it and I noticed the skill was just gathering dust, hence it is not picked.

Your build does reach the mitigation values needed and wanted but it lacks some QoL like procs in Burn which elevate the damage from warm breeze to blowtorch. Regardless pick what slotting seems useful and incorporate in your own build.

Thank you for this great feedback, Sovera.  I'll definitely take a look into fixing up Burn with some more procs like you suggested.
