Dark/Elec build

So i've finally decided to shelve my DM/Elec brute that I loved so much on live to a scrapper. He was a buzzsaw build back prior to the proc changes, but since that's no longer an option I'm going to try him with tasty crits instead. I lookd in the Pylon thread but couldn't find a build idea, anyone run one that could share some insight?

I have to admit, my first instinct was that it didn't sound like an optimal pairing.  You are really doubling up on loads of endurance from everything Electric and Dark Consumption.  The -to hit from Dark Melee isn't really enough to cover all the defense shortcomings of the Electric secondary.  And yet...

 

You can do some really funky things with a build like this with some procs.  I'm gonna take a hard look tomorrow.

Electric Armor is much better on brutes due to the higher resist cap. You can easily cap S/L/E.

Yeah my brute was super tough, but now the buzzsaw gimmick doesn't work so I was more interested in damage potential, unless the scrapper is going to be gimped

The brute never had endo issues from mid-30's on, if I remember correctly. And the way it worked pre-ED was you mainly cycled the first two attacks. They recharged so quickly, with the procs not being affected by recharge negatively, he really burned down enemies quickly

@Yomo Kimyata is right that this can get pretty funky with procs, but I also wanted to make sure you would be as safe as possible while still pumping out huge damage. To this extent, I did not build up enough DEF to make you invincible as I did build up just enough that by clicking Shadow Meld, you will essentially be able to soak up alphas with no problem. IMO, this is something Elec Armor struggles with, as Energize is on a loooong cooldown for what it gives you.

 

Endurance not a problem? Great, now you can take Dark Consumption anyway and proc it the hell out to shore up your mediocre AoE damage. Hit Soul Drain before this, proc Critical Strikes, and you're looking at a pretty hefty pseudo-nuke that also gives you End back as a bonus!

 

Some other tidbits in my build:

-Getting slowed is for chumps!

-Tactics is our secret maneuver! The proc rate for Gaussian's increases for each target getting buffed by Tactics. This includes MM pets! Have teammates wondering how your spike damage is so high!

-Alpha slot is very flexible. For safety, I recommend Spiritual Core, as it will make Energize heal better, and make all of your key powers come back way quicker. Or, you can always go Musculature Radial if you want bigger orange numbers. Radial, because it also makes you run fast, and that's funny.

I really really enjoy Dark Melee and I think Electric Armor is massively under represented/rated. DM pairs well with almost anything, and the PBAOE aura with ELA will help the minimal AOE with DM (btw, you can actually crank out some good AOE with DM if built appropriately). Proc bomb Touch of Fear and slot Soul Drain for damage. You may be really surprised how much these two changes can REALLY add to your AOE output. Doing the same with Dark Consumption, as Soul Drain, and you won't hate life when solo and big packs are a thing. Add in Ball Lightning in Mu Mastery for extra oomph. You CAN resist cap Electric Armor to a LOT of different types, but this is capped at 75% on a scrapper compared to the 90% on a tanker/brute. Yeah, it is definitely noticeable. Also, Electric Armor on a scrapper does NOT have a taunt aura. This one is a deal breaker for me personally, but not for others. Take that as you will.

 

I'd honestly be surprised you'd have End Issues. And Electric Armor has some really good Debuff Resistance baked in to the armor.

 

On a static target Electric Armor was king of ST DPS before Bio Armor hit the scene (well, and Fire Armor for scrappers too). It's moved down the list some since Bio, Stone, and Fire were options, but damn. Electric Armor is a really good option.

 

I'm of the opinion that Muscle > everything else for Alpha on a DPS oriented class like a scrapper, but that is up to preference. Muscle adds a LOT of damage. I get confused when people say they are building their scrap/stalk/blaster for damage and refuse to use Muscle Alpha.

 

I was never a fan of buzzsaw builds and my data collection backed that up. You said you were in the Pylon Thread, so you can see I'm decently active there. I'd also peruse the Pylon Spreadsheet when you get a chance.

 

Not sure how similar to how you would build these are for you, but might give some ideas. One is with Ball Lightning and the other is with Shadow Meld. Both are SLFCE resist capped. Obviously, the one with Shadow Meld is tougher to kill.

The SM one personally looks pretty rock solid to me. Has a higher recharge too, and the Psi resist is at 60, instead of 50 with the other one. I can vouch from experience with my DM/BIO/MU that I do NOT miss Dark Consumption. It does have a Proc Bombed DNA Siphon in liu of though. Pretty sure if I spent more time on the DM/ELA/MU one I could really tighten it up, but the DM/ELA/SOUL was pretty darn easy.

I'd honestly be surprised you'd have End Issues. And Electric Armor has some really good Debuff Resistance baked in to the armor.

 

On a static target Electric Armor was king of ST DPS before Bio Armor hit the scene (well, and Fire Armor for scrappers too). It's moved down the list some since Bio, Stone, and Fire were options, but damn. Electric Armor is a really good option.

 

I'm of the opinion that Muscle > everything else for Alpha on a DPS oriented class like a scrapper, but that is up to preference. Muscle adds a LOT of damage. I get confused when people say they are building their scrap/stalk/blaster for damage and refuse to use Muscle Alpha.

 

I was never a fan of buzzsaw builds and my data collection backed that up. You said you were in the Pylon Thread, so you can see I'm decently active there. I'd also peruse the Pylon Spreadsheet when you get a chance.

 

Not sure how similar to how you would build these are for you, but might give some ideas. One is with Ball Lightning and the other is with Shadow Meld. Both are SLFCE resist capped. Obviously, the one with Shadow Meld is tougher to kill.
