Slotting Sentinel /Bio

Howdy all,

 

I am a returning player and live was my last real experience with the game. I joined after some friends informed me about the game and am enjoying it. But Sentinels are definitely new to me and I am unsure of how to slot Bio Armor effectively for my Beam Rifle build.

 

The toon is about to hit the thirties and I figured I may need to pay more attention to such things now.

You got the right forum.

I don't know if you have experience with Bio Armor on any other AT, but similar concept. The idea is a layered approach. They typically build for recharge through IO slotting as ablative, rebuild DNA, and parasitic leech all make heavy use of recharge slotting. Otherwise you could also works towards building defenses as well to help mitigate the incoming dps.

 

Early/mid game you'll use adaptation as necessary, but once you get enough slots/and IOs you'll likely set it to offensive and forget it.

 

Beam rifle takes a little getting used but it can pack a wallop and works with meshes with the sentinel's vulnerability mechanic as well.

You live and die by Ablative Carapace which is your clicky absorb power. Also the Heal and the final cone based absorb which I cannot remember the name off. So really you want to be looking for maxing the heal and recharge in all those powers and overall building towards a good amount of global recharge.

 

If you are just running Single Origin (SO) enhances, Heal x3 and Recharge x3 in all those powers. Your beam rifle powers probably looking at 1 acc 2 rech 1 end 2 dam (or 2 acc 1 rech)

Ablative Carapace is the simple click absorb

Rebuild DNA is the heal.  On other ATs, it's a fairly complex power (DNA Siphon), but it looks like Sentinels just get a straightforward heal/end heal that does a bit more healing if in defensive mode, a bit more endurance if in uh, whatever the endurance mode is called, and a perception increase if in offensive mode

Parasitic Leech is the capstone, a cone.  It gives you absorb, regen, and recovery per target hit.  Max of 5 targets, and a 90 degree cone, so it should be fairly forgiving to max it out.  You probably want to hit it at the beginning of a spawn if it's up, so that you are in a target-dense environment and can max it, and so that the  absorb is there when enemies are still alive and regen works for the duration of the encounter.

Strong combo at endgame. You will trash 54 bosses with ease.  Get your hasten perma and S/L resist at 75. I don’t use my health syphon anymore in offensive stance, just the abs shield and a few greens on hand for 8’s. Bio is tanky. Pick up electric fences later for limited but strong aoes.

Thanks very much for the replies. I have very little experience with Bio (or beam rifle) but it seemed like a neat sci-fi character idea.

 

It does seem like beam rifle with disintegration takes a few moments to set up compared to the other ranged types but it has been fun.

 

Just was sort of unsure how to get the most out of Bio once my offensive powers are slotted out and while I did search for examples of Beam Rifle and Bio characters they seemed mostly older posts or other secondary's besides Bio.

 

If anyone does know of Bio review for sentinels or build example I don't mind taking a look under the hood so to speak.

I can take a screen shot later on my build for you.

 

Disintegrate is awesome, it spreads. Throw it on the highest tear mob. Spam aoe to spread it and then turn to single dps on boss and aoe after. Routine will be second nature. Unless you use the big aoe haha. That rivals the pyro incarnate.

 

What level are you now?

Checking my blaster, and I'm pretty sure this is not the correct slotting, but she has

Four Slotted Hypersonic in Hover,  single slot of flight enh in Swift, and Fly, and just some defense in Evasive

 

Her Hover is at 55mph, flight is capped at 88mph, with afterburner at 102.27

 

That Hover is close to unslotted flight iirc

What follows is meant to give you ideas and is not presented as the be all, end all of Bio sentinels or even a particularly outstanding build.  It is the target build for my Fire/Bio sentinel and I have tested it on the Test Server to make sure it will give me the playstyle I want--I focused on extending the range of attacks. 75% S/L resistance (68.6% in Offensive stance), 45% F/C defense, 43.8% E/N defense. 2 end/sec difference between consumption and generation.
