This is an older build I've had for a while, and althought he feels sturdy, his damage feels a bit lacking. Any suggestions to move things around or add an Epic/Patron pool while keeping the softcaps?

Procs, an Epic and Incarnates will likely be your next evolution to get you where you hope to go.

My Shield/War Mace PIMP build (built for bash and flash, through the life of smash). This build uses neither Epic nor Patron power pools, and also passes on Hasten. The damage comes from %procs in AoE, global recharge, and a (IIRC) single use of a Force Feeback %proc to help out with Shield Charge recharge. The core philosophy of this build is to have as many AoE as early as possible, if you intend to primarily play level 45+ content it should be possible to make alternate power pool choices.

 

This is a wonderful "lets do damage" build, if you want MOAR resists,  sacrifice some of the recharge mules to get into Fighting. I respect the choice of Experimentation, its just that Force of Will offers me a good play experience with Tankers. Not everyone devotes as many slots to Taunt as I do, if you want better resists you probably want to slot toggles with 4xUnbreakable Guard pieces, and will have to steal slots from somewhere.

My Shield/War Mace PIMP build (built for bash and flash, through the life of smash). This build uses neither Epic nor Patron power pools, and also passes on Hasten. The damage comes from %procs in AoE, global recharge, and a (IIRC) single use of a Force Feeback %proc to help out with Shield Charge recharge. The core philosophy of this build is to have as many AoE as early as possible, if you intend to primarily play level 45+ content it should be possible to make alternate power pool choices.

 

This is a wonderful "lets do damage" build, if you want MOAR resists,  sacrifice some of the recharge mules to get into Fighting. I respect the choice of Experimentation, its just that Force of Will offers me a good play experience with Tankers. Not everyone devotes as many slots to Taunt as I do, if you want better resists you probably want to slot toggles with 4xUnbreakable Guard pieces, and will have to steal slots from somewhere.

Thanks, I'll take a look.  Can you try reposting the build in a form MIDS can read?  Says it can't import this.  I can try to convert the AXE attacks into WM ones, unless you meant to post a WM build.

@Spaghetti Betty i liked your build and made some slight tweaks--> basically swapped in Smashing procs for Lethal or Psi procs (since Smashing overall is less resisted than Lethal/Psi from what I've read), moved a few slots out of Health into other powers (trying to keep some + resist by 2-slotting WG in SS) as the trade off for regen/sec vs. more damage or -RES seemed reasonable, tweaked some slots in PP and Stam to add the +Health procs, etc.  Nothing major, just some minor adjustments.  Let me know what you think and/or if I missed anything crucial.  I'd like to find another slot to put into Whirling for a 3rd proc, but I can't see what's worth taking out.

 OH may bad... that was an Axe build, not a War Mace build. I do have an WM/Inv Scrapper, but I didn't like how it it played and I didn't feel like rolling it into a Tanker. I guess the Battle Axe played more like I expected the Mace to play!

Overall I don't see any major problems with the tweaks you made. If you find the Heal procs working better for you, then great! Personally, the Slow RES you get from the 3-piece Synapse Shock is non-negotiable, but I always try to build as much as possible. Getting your recharge debuffed at all is super lame, but in the grand scheme of things, 10% won't make too much of a difference if it's not capped.

 

I like the D-Sync in Active Defense. I never even considered that. I will promptly be stealing that for my builds.

 

I agree about Whirling Mace. I would've loved to drop a 6th slot in there, but we're dancing a fine line between toughness and damage, and if I had to give up 1 slot, it would be there. Now if it did KD, that would be a completely different story.

 

IMO if you wanna go forward with this then you are good to go. Oh, and bring Ageless for soloing!

How has this build be working out for you, brasil? I'm thinking about giving Shield/WM a try, but I was worried about low damage. What Incarnate goodies did you end up taking?

Damage is good enough, rotation is good enough, esp on teams with speed boost.  Defense and res seem fine for most content.  Though in LRSF, I could not Facetank LR -- he kept hitting me thru the def and 2-shotting me (since I didn't have greens and couldn't heal), I ended up having to kite him around the towers to stay alive.  I'd say my Rad/SS feels stronger and my Elec/Fire feels a bit stronger, but I'm having a lot more fun than I was with the Shield/WM and likely will play him more now.  I'd say pretty good, not "the best" but fun to play.
