Using the new (p6) alphabets?

Recommended Posts

I was doing a little base tidying and remembered the new alphabets dropped with Page 6. However, I was unable to make use of them, and all the new ones seem grayed out. What am I missing, here?

The new alphabets do appear noticeably darker and grayer in the item menu... but they should still be just as usable as the original alphabets... just be sure to enable room clipping if you are above or below the base 😉

Yep, they work just fine. Was just having usual fussy problems with placement (CoX does not like widescreen monitors...)

Nice to be able to throw a few signs and labels around!

For what little base editing I do, I often run an Alt account on a widescreen to check the view as my main edits using a smaller window on a different monitor.

It has been stated before and hopefully being looked into, but it seems the new letters are missing the alpha channel or specular layer, for outdoor lighting. In base lighting they are fine, but outdoor lighting they are dimmer than the original lettering.image.thumb.png.fa4260acaa77740419b53573c2b1c3cd.png

I'm still seeing a big case of "Z-creep" with the new alphabets, especially when they're placed with the grid disabled (which is pretty much required for good spacing on the tiny versions). I'll set the text, then when I log out and back in, it looks like someone has come along and given my base a good shake -- everything is back out of alignment.

Great letters, but frustrating so far.
